I don't understand why people compare covers with originals🤔🙃 A cover song is a tribute, an expression of gratitude and awe?! Especially when there's so much work involved and it's done a little professionally. You don't cover a song because you think you are better but because you honour, respect and love a song/band so much. 🙏🏼👏🏻
I think both is true, there are covers and there are tributes. A tribute e.g. is Nightwish - High Hopes. I think people compare only to say that you did it awfully good, like, as good as the inventer himself.
Even as much as I hate to say it, some do covers and end up being way better whether they intend to or not. Dan Vasc has conquered both Donnie Osmond and Adele with his covers. I do not to listen to those originals much anymore.
