When I see young Tuomas, it makes me shiver, he is such a cool composer, and when Tarja starts singing, my body is covered with goosebumps and it seems that my soul is flying away
Creating all this magic gives him/them a place in metal that can not be replaced, utterly genius! That same genius sadly took an abrupt break when they threw out Tarja without warning, of which they perhaps owe half of their fame because of her opera power and exotical, tainted english. Still bless them all, no need to disdain it forever ❤ I went to their concert in Oslo 2003 while being only 16 and even met them backstage because we knew an influential person at the time who had a part time job as our teacher. Very cool people!

This band (especially this line-up) is nothing short of a miracle. Heartbreaking to know what happened between them, but it is clear to me that Tarja left an imprint on the band that lasts even to this day. God bless their souls.
I hate when people leave under unhappy circumstances. It is indeed heartbreaking. I hope there's still a path to healing (although not reunion), but I fear it long past that point.

Emppu,Tuomas and Tarja created the band...and they are metalband cause when they heard Tarjas powerful voice then they changed it and became a metalband...tosupport her powerfulvoice...and it really was something at that time...Tarja is soo beautiful and sings like a gothic angel ( I know that manythink that she canonly sing opera but I have studied solfege and singin for 19 years and if you can sing opera then you can sing everything....its just that Tuomas wrote these songs for operatic oice...even Floor has admitted that some songs are somewhat hard for her tosing cause she cant goas high as Tarja so she invented new technigues and since Tarja is Floors firnd then "bye bye beautiful" is the song they never sing on stage anymore outof respect for Tarja...they all admitted thatthey treated her very badly but for me Tarja,Marco,Jukka, Emppu and Floor are my favorite Nightwish bandmates :)

@@BigBlackCat not quite sure as to what you are intending to say but if you are suggesting that by siding with Tarja, i somehow banish Tuomas and by extension NW from my listening repertoire (and going by all best available info she was unfairly mistreated) then i have to tell you that i do not consider this a zero sum game..while i am still a huge Tarja-holic, i followed Floor's career for some 15 years and despite the sad fact that she is now mostly singing with a far more generic voice than the one i grew very fond of in the past, i will not abandon her...she is a very talented performer and at times gives a performance which i find very enjoyable...at any rate , love your nickname...i take it your a cat lover,same here...

Tarja can hit those high note without a doubt but Floor's version is one step ahead because it isnt quite so forced and just a tad more soothing. Plus...Floor has a better handle on the English language than Tarja who sometimes squishes some notes(Oh and her English interviews are hard to listen to.Maybe she didnt focus that much on English as a child and you can't say the age difference is a factor because Floor is only 4 years younger). There is no doubt that Floor is an incredible singer. I do not dispute that.
However, as a follower of Nightwish since the beginning, the combination of Tarja and Tuomas is simply magical.
It is that combination which saw Nightwish explode into mainstream popularity.
I've kept myself open minded over the years, and listened to every album post-Tarja. The soul remains, but something else is always missing.
There are tons of metal bands with great, powerful, versatile singers. That for me is normal. But metal with Tarja's transcendental operatic voice made them so unique. If Floor had started initially with the band, there is no way I would love Nightwish as much. I will see it simply as just another metal band with great lyrics and composition.
That is why so many old Nightwish fans love this era, and this beautiful piece of memory from that era remains.
Yeah, Tarja made Nightwish unique at first but the operatic vocals became truly boring over the years. Now the songs are much more dynamic and an absolute joy to listen to.

@@R20set Boring for who isn't into this kind of vocals. In fact their sound would be so much different as Thuomas initial idea was to make more of an acoustic folk, camping song but after listening to Tarja's voice he decided that they needed a havier sound to suit her voice and so was born this Symphonic Metal with operatic vocals that was so unique at the time and made them famous for being so outside the box and even created a trend, I would even say that not only would they have a much different sound but would be unlikely that they would have gone that far without Tarja, she was a pioneer and deserves more respect than she is getting lately.
