Well isn't there any superheroes they would be interested in? Grace brings up the family animated movies _The Incredibles_ from time to time. If women liked that would they like Wanda and Vision raising a couple of super-powered youngsters?
@@sandal_thong8631I just think women generally don’t wanna be in an online space dominated by loud incels and misogynists. You see less of that amongst animation fans in gen, so probably why more women watch The Incredibles than MCU movies lol 🤷🏾
Despite how much the media wants to propagandize to people, Marvel is a boy brand. It always has been. Doesn't mean girls can't watch. Doesn't mean girls can't watch Star Wars but when you try to completely flip an audience unnaturally in a contrived way you should expect what you get. For years the lines for genre content was very clear. Women liked romance and drama and men liked science fiction, fantasy, and action. Now it's taboo to state the facts. Again something being for a group of people doesn't exclude you from watching it, it just means you come to the table with an understanding that this already has a built in largely unmovable audience. Plenty of women showed up for Marvel when Marvel was made for guys probably because people enjoy classic tropes not the tropes you try to force on it via modernization. Make things for the audience they are meant for and you will see the fruit in the form of money, make things for a niche audience and you will see fringe profits to deficits.
Just read that Agatha was apparently the cheapest show they produced yet, even lower than Echo's $40m!!! If true, that's a pretty big deal for increasing the likelihood that Disney will continue greenlighting shows that explore the more interesting sides of the MCU.
“The more interesting sides” if they were more interesting the franchise wouldn’t have gone from making 2 billion to straight fI0pping like captain marvel, they’re not more interesting, they’re more interesting TO YOU. No one else
@@mildhoof You wrote more than me so should you calm down? Or are you just saying that as a tactic to seem in control of the conversation? I know the answer but I would like to hear your Iie
I rememeber as well when the mcu shows were coming out before the disney plus ones there were folks saying some were bad, most were bad etc..the mcu was in decline etc..Heck i remember a few folks saying during phase 3,phase 3 was not has good as phase 1 and 2.Anyway there is was always someone saying this phase is not as good as this phase before phase 4 even happen.
@@Williamson-q6o You seem angry for no reason. Your example of "straight fl0pping", Captain Marvel, made over a billion dollars. I don't particularly enjoy either of her movies btw, and I'm not sure why you're connecting them to Agatha all along?
We haven't gotten a _Wong_ show even though he's pretty well liked. He wasn't expected to be the Sorcerer Supreme but was handed it, and has had to rise to the occasion. They could have done a show about him learning the job over 5 years, since the Doctor Strange movies are few and far between. The first _Doctor Strange_ movie was like _Wonder Woman:_ an origin story leading to fighting the most dangerous being out there: Dormammu and Ares. How do you go up from there?
If there is no Scarlet Witch movie, there is frankly no point in Olsen returning. Her arc cannot be done justice in what will likely be little more than 5 minutes of screentime in Secret Wars. They need to wrap up the story with Chthon, IMHO ending her story with a solo movie is preferable to some lame, lazy wet farm of an exit in Secret Wars.
Ok I'm gonna say it. I don't think the viewership for Agatha is bad. She's a D level character and the viewership is perfectly acceptable and respectable. The discourse around the show has been ok compared to things like the Marvels so it's fixing that gap slightly too. It's doing what it needs to atm. If the show stays in this just ok lane then it will be fine but if it goes off the rails like a lot of star wars things have then it will be bad
It all depends on the cost of production if that is low enough then these are acceptable (not great) viewing figures. But all depends on the ratings improving .Marvel needs hits because the shareholders are complaining.
I agree. And I think it's okay to have smaller shows - just as long as they stick to a budget - a known marvel weakness. I had tons of genre shows to watch growing up, and they still made good stuff with small budgets.
I’m also not concerned given that Disney Plus has had a string of disappointments so people are turned off. But Agatha is getting great word of mouth so I can see more people getting onboard as it goes along, similar to your Agatha videos that you mentioned.
Yeah, me too. I was chatting with one of my best friends last night who actually said she hadn’t heard anything about the show. She said she hadn’t been watching Disney Plus that much recently bc she’d been disappointed with a lot of the prior MCU and Star Wars shows. But her and her sister loved Wandavision so she said they are both wanted to start watching it tonight! I’m eager to hear her thoughts!
All the mcu disney plus shows are really good. Anyway on average they have good to really good rt scores. On average the star wars disney plus shows are really good too and on average on rt they have good to really good and for most have not been disappointed. So speak for yourself if you are disappointed.
@@marvel22-mf1jsidk personally I stoped enjoying the MCU shows halfway through Hawkeye, I kept falling asleep during the episodes, everything since then really hasn't heard my attention. Star wars is also a little stale to me at this point. I am genuinely enjoying Agatha though! It's the first D+ show I've enjoyed in a long time and it sucks seeing it's not do well
So many people were saying "who wants this show" before Agatha releases so these numbers aren't a terrible start. It has 9 episodes to build up viewership and the word of mouth has been positive unlike other shows on that list.
Problem is, we have seen during these years that hardly any new show is capable of building an audience during the course of just one season (Wednesday being the first exception that comes to my mind), so we will probably see Agatha's numbers fall from the second week, especially because there will be just one new episode released weekly (so fewer minutes of show to watch), after the first two. Probably with the last two episodes it will go up again, but I believe it's possible for Agatha not to show in nielsen ratings starting from its second to its sixth week
@@shauncorr7205 Personally, I feel the opposite: Wanda is not in this series and I think this could be one of the main reasons why this show is bot successfull enough. I believe Wanda has still some strength and recognition from the public; these other characters not so much, they're wonderful, but niche
I think Agatha and this corner of the MCU will be fine. It's safe to say that most of us who are watching are really enjoying it and those who were doubtful are enjoying it more and more as the show progresses.
I really do feel like the show will continue to pick up viewers as the series progresses and perhaps once it fully when it drops its season, there may be those that binge it. I’m loving the show so far.
Agatha is like a super conservative show from a budget standpoint. The last episode took place entirely in a house with *one* CGI shot the entire episode. The word of mouth is good, the RT score is increasing everyday. Acolyte debuted high and fell off a cliff because it was bad which hurt it because it was insanely expensive. I can’t imagine Marvel/Disney are hurt by these numbers.
While i agree that it may not be hurting by numbers, we should also consider projects hurting overall interest in the brand as a whole. It may be a slow burn but if the core fan base (males) continue not caring about projects n asking "who it was made for"....then I'd wager Feige n co. are in for a rude awakening down the line. Here's to hoping the new strategies being made remedy the effects of phase 4 n 5 decisions.
@@jozey5215 I think that we’re seeing the recalibration currently. I think the success of GOTG, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, etc. (more obscure characters) gave Marvel the blind faith that the brand was enough to sustain any character they want to introduce. Unfortunately they’ve tried introducing characters with little substance in the source material, but looking at the projects left on the docket, it seems like we’re getting back to core Marvel heroes audiences already have an attachment to. Agatha is helped because not only is it good (very important) but people feel a connection to the Wanda side of the MCU. She’s the most beloved female superhero they’ve ever introduced, to the point that people are willing to watch a spin-off that may lead to her return. The way to make the core fans care about characters and projects is to introduce them in projects they already care about. (Black Panther in Civil War) And put very specific care into the introduction of those characters. Agatha is getting praise because it’s a character we already came to care about in someone else’s project.
If Agatha was actually a "The Craft" or "Witches of Eastwick" branded show that starred Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza, I think it would get susbtantially more female viewers. The MCU just can't expand into another demographic now. Imagine Grey's Anatomy in year 20 trying to launch a spinoff aimed at guys. There's no way it would catch on.
I predicted a couple of weeks ago that Agatha's viewership would be even less than The Acolyte's, and I was right. It was very apparent to me from the trailers that the show wouldn't appeal strongly to Marvel's male audience. And let me add that the problem is not the absence of Wanda or the show being about witches. It's simply the execution. Agatha looks like it's written *for* women; it looks like The Real Housewives of Salem's Lot. And I'm not saying the show is bad. I respect that a lot of you like it. But within the Marvel fandom, it has niche appeal. (There's also the fact that MCU fans don't have much faith in Marvel shows, period, these days. So very few people are willing to give a show the benefit of the doubt unless it looks amazing or gets great word-of-mouth. Maybe Agatha will have good word-of-mouth by the end of its run, but right now it's not drawing people in on face value.)
Disney could make FIVE Agatha all alongs for the price of ONE Acolyte. Expectations are not going to be the same for both projects. Love Grace but I think her take in this video was a bit melodramatic. Also think she's way off the mark thinking this show has any bearing on the likelihood of Wanda's solo movie being made.
I think we have to remember that Disney+ has increased their prices and have cracked down on password sharing. This has to have had an effect on viewership.
Can I ask you how Disney Plus has cracked down on password sharing in the US? It's the same as Netflix? In my country it seems they still haven't done it...
It's worth noting that D+ reports worldwide viewership but HBO reports US viewership only. So Penguin got 5.3m over 4 days in the US and Agatha got 9.3m in its first 7 days globally. And they only counted one ep for the acolyte as well btw.
@@Nickkj09we shall see. I believe the mainstream fans do not know who he is and once they do they will be like... is there any Hulk or Spider-Man coming out
@@Nickkj09agreed I personally have been waiting for him in the MCU forever, as he's my favorite marvel comics character, and a few of the other of the young Avengers for a while and have been more excited about them than the original avengers. My only problem is they took too long to bring them in and now I'm kinda burnt out. I also know he has a pretty big fanbase that's been wanting him to appear in the MCU for years
I agree with you on Variety's reporting. I know the reporter Marc Malkin is gay and is excited for the show (and rightly so) but to consistently ask the actors and creators the same question at the premiere, "is Agatha, Marvel's gayest show?" and write about it, did the show no favors. It was embarrassing. I watch Agatha and I'm loving it. But I don't see it as a 'gay show'. I see gay representation among the characters, but the mysteries are geared for everyone to enjoy. I can see Variety's overzealous reporting as a detriment, not a positive to reach a maximum audience. Hopefully, the mysteries (some ruined already) will allow folks to invest in the journey as the show progresses. Because there are so many narrative directions it can go to get to the end.
The biggest issue with the show is momentum and good will unfortunately. You still have it by enjoying the show. But the momentum and goodwill for casual fans has dwindled. After Endgame and Wandavision, fans had a lot of time for MCU. But after Eternals, Secret Invasion and the many others people are more choosey with their time. And that can't be blamed. Marvel execs need to win people back.
I think Agatha can be a soft streamer so long as it launches Wiccan successfully. He doesn’t have a huge fan base because he’s not been introduced to mainstream audiences yet. If they take good care of our boy, he’ll provide the merch and viewers over the next 10 to 20 years. I think you’re being a little too doom and gloom about these numbers. The point of Agatha isn’t to break the internet; it’s to make to a new Hocus Pocus. Agatha is a playing the long game.
That’s if they don’t mess him up which apparently they already have by mixing him with nicholas scratch sigh. Plus I’m uncertain if the MCU will last that long.
Look at The Marvels. If the shows aren’t doing a good enough job introducing new characters (Ms Marvel/Monica), no one will follow them to their next project. Some people might follow but The Marvels box office showed that is not enough. Gotta get the mainstream audience interested. Right now they aren’t so much with this Agatha show.
Omg.. Received a gifted membership.. am not sure who the gift was from.. Thanks a lot to whoever gift😊 and tomorrow is my birthday .. best Birthday gift.. ❤️Happy to be part of this family
Agatha is not getting toxic backlash cuz it’s not a toxic show or a show that trolls and disrespects part of the fandom. The Acolyte on the other hand made creative decisions that disrespected the lore and fandom. For me Agatha’s issue is it is such a niche project very few people are watching.
Even with the direction of marketing and controversy surrounding the Marvels, the audience ended up being 64% male. I am willing to bet a similar scenario for agatha as well.
As an MCU fan, I really have no sense of urgency to watch the Agatha show. Seems like a good binge for Halloween week maybe but I’m feeling a little mid about it. I like penguin quite a bit more but I don’t understand why they’re waiting 10 days to drop episode two. Unfortunately, I feel like the show was unnecessary. Too many spinoff characters and teen is supposed to be a bigger character really hasn’t been enough to make anybody care here. It’s a shame because the whole Disney strategy has been pretty bad since the pandemic. It all seems to be a waste of really good actors like Katherine Hahn and Aubrey Plaza, and other situations like the God butcher from love and thunder. Great actors wasted in mid rolls that should’ve been great rolls. Daredevil is the show that everybody wants to see. So these unnecessary shows only hurt the MCU. We need all bangers like Deadpool and wolverine for a good two years. Less content more bangers.
I think it’s really good, but I can’t wait to binge it for Halloween, too. It’s just the perfect spooky Halloween vibes I’ve always wanted. It’s so perfectly to my taste, though, that I can’t predict anyone else’s experience. I am completely biased by how specifically I love it.
Agatha is deep cut for most of the fandom launched from another Disney Plus show. I would be interested on how it compares other Disney Plus Shows for the same/similar duration.
I have a question, why would Disney take into consideration how well Agatha does to do a Scarlet Witch movie? Wanda is a juggernaut by herself, in my opinion
Who would’ve thought that marvel shows that tie to the MCU will hurt marvel. Back in the day we were upset that the marvel Netflix characters lived in their own space and never showed up in the movies… today we are overwhelmed by all the tv characters and it seems like separating the movies from the tv shows, was actually the right call
So, what's the point of comparing Agatha with Acolyte, Percy or Ahsoka if only 1 episode was measured for Agatha and the others had 2 episode measured at the begining?
Got to wonder if people bailed after the first episode and didn't watch the second of _Agatha._ I haven't started the second episode of _Ahsoka_ yet. Maybe I'll go watch it someday.
Agatha should have been a hour and a half Halloween movie on D+. Kathryn Hahn also said on the red carpet that Agatha was only a one season show. Maybe that hurt it as well.
I dont think it was billed to be a multiple season show in the first place n i'd be surprised if it ever became more than 1. I mean most would rather have a clear cut WandaVision sn2 than more spinoffs. P.S. i'd also bet if VisionQuest performs way better it will get a new season. Haha
I think that Agatha should be releasing two episodes a week. This isn’t must-watch TV-it’s just fun TV. And 30 minutes of fun once a week isn’t enough to build hype. Also, I have to say, Rings of Power is surprisingly compelling this second season. I do feel more compelled to watch it when it drops then Agatha All Along.
Update: Agatha All Along cost less than all the other MCU shows to make, budget of less than $40 million (Echo) according to Hollywood Reporter. Which probably looks better business wise compared to Acolyte's $180-230 million cost. 🤔 Also, it's not Halloween season yet, I'd give it time to build even more viewership~
True. We needed either a reboot of the MCU after _Avengers: Endgame_ or the next team-up movie whether it's an Avengers movie, Fantastic Four, X-Men or even Illuminati. Imagine if instead of _Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness_ we got _The Illuminati_ which instead of being dismissive of The Scarlet Witch, is teaming up with Chavez to hunt her down! It was mostly Spider-Man vs Mysterio in _Far from Home_ but then a massive team-up in _No Way Home. Multiverse of Madness_ got $900 M but was a disappointment to many!
I'm going to mention this. I'm from South Africa, and every episode releases 3AM. Nobody is going to stay up that late. Plus, everybody was hating on Agatha before realizing it's pretty good. It's going to take some time before its fully realized
I had 7 days to watch Agatha to get those viewership numbers up so the drop time doesn’t mean anything. It also had 7 days of good work of mouth so again people still chose to still not watch it
Omg hi. I'm south African too lol. And yes people were not giving this show a chance especially first week. But it's got good WOM so I think people should let it grow its audience as it's ratings are improving too. I have no doubt by Halloween it'll have many people wanting to binge it
_Transformers One_ is having good word of mouth, but parents and their kids haven't been going. This weekend might be it's last chance. But it now competes with _Wild Robot_ which for some reason is putting little butts in seats.
As much as I started liking the show, the MCU brand is damaged after low-lows such as Secret Invasion and Quantumania, and let's not forget this is a pseudo-aftermath to Multiverse of Madness, which sunk the franchise like Batman v Superman did for the DCEU. Maybe this will get word of mouth (if they keep the quality bar stable) going into Thundebolts or the next TV project, Daredevil or whatever.
Regarding female viewership, I think they'd have to look first into the source material. Comics certainly aren't attracting readers beyond the usuals, unlike manga and anime. Reading the reactions and comments to this week's Jujutsu Kaisen paints a completely opposite picture of demographics opposed to current MCU.
I think they needed to release the two episodes together to get people to come back week after week for 1 episode at a time, since the first didn't really sell me as to where the series was headed.
I didn't like majority of episode 1 becasue of the detective character Agatha was stuck as. But she breaks out of it at the end of the epsidoe and then things kick off. Epsiode 2 and 3 are total solid
I think regarding Agatha it must be considered that the show is not allowed in many countries (in the whole middle east Disney Agatha is not streamed, but the Acolyte it). There is also the fact that it is much cheaper than other Marvel shows.
I think Agatha’s viewership reflects the fact that Marvel has spent a lot of their goodwill with fans when it comes to tv shows and people are proceeding cautiously aka waiting for good WOM after serious duds like Echo and Secret Invasion. As for the Acolytes shocking 11.1 M I’m making a reachy assumption that hate watchers boosted that…
Or it’s just not as bad as a bunch of people who expect x are making it out to be. It’s one of my fave SW stories so far so I wish people could get over the nitpicking and allow writers to make things they actually believe in instead of cloning the first few films ad infinitum
@@nailinthefashion THIS. If the biggest movie franchise of all time can't take risks, 20 years into its history, what's the point of making new content?
I agree on all fronts, but mostly just shocked that any Star Wars content is getting so many viewers as The Acolyte's first episode got. I don't know a single person in my life that watches Star Wars, I just assumed it was a legacy franchise for boomers at this point.
I was bored by WandaVision, and the ad campaign for Agatha did not interest me. However, I enjoyed Wanda in the Madness movie, and would watch a movie with her.
I like the Scarlett Witch but I have no interest in watching a stupid 1950s sitcom style show with Wanda. I want Scarlett Witch content not Wanda content.
Agatha is just an okay show. I'm not super excited to see the next episode. Maybe if it was a binged, I would like it more, idk... Like what happened to Susan at the end of the last episode wasn't shocking to me as I felt I just met her. I felt that they did a little potion and the episode was over... The concept is interesting when it comes to the theme but I felt it needed more I think
Even 1/night over 9 nights might have been good. The questions that came up about streaming shows back when I was watching _The Punisher,_ was "What happened this episode?" and "What's this episode about?" There were a few where not much happened. It's not like one of the good action series of the '80s (A Team, Miami Vice, Airwolf) where there's a mission or whatever and they deal with it that episode. It' kind of like bad comic books where you got the issue that month and nothing's happening but talk, either because it's just after a major event, or it's just leading up to one starting on the last page or panel. But you could have missed it and not been disappointed.
So Agatha’s viewership is crap and we get all this coverage The Penguin is AMAZING with solid viewership and we can’t even get a breakdown? What’s up? 🤷🏽
I think we have to accept that Marvel and Star Wars are no longer pop culture mainstream franchises anymore. Especially when compared to it's multi-decade history.
@@mildhoof you seem to have missed the part where I said when "compared to its multi-decade history." There used to be multiple billion dollar movie entries every year from Marvel. Now we have one every couple of years and mainly because it does not resemble the normal stuff that has been surrounding it.
I love this show and I think what’s sad is that it’s Feige’s fault for letting all the crap shows continue for so long that people are literally so apprehensive because they’ve been burned by 💩 content for years now and they don’t have faith anymore… I have a friend who felt this way and I had to BEG her to watch AGatha which she did and her exact words were “Now, where the $&@? has this quality been?” We watched episode three together 😅❤
Boom. This!! - Marvel Execs have burned a lot of people thats all. They need to earn it back but it won't start with Agatha unfortunately. We like Agatha but we adore Wanda - The powerful Avenger missing the story arc she deserves after Wandavision.

I don't agree so much, for the show to be a disappointment, first it should have had high expectations, And that's not something that I think fans and the studio had for a show with an small audience and with a supporting character as the protagonist. You tend to look for every disney ip to be at the top or to have an enormous box office, you did it with romulus, but in this post-pandemic context i think it is not necessary.
I've said this a million times before, but someone needs to order a third-party audit of the Acolyte's finances to account for every dollar spent to create that show. I'm sorry, but there is absolutely no universe in which $180 million was legitimately spent to make it. I find it absolutely stunning that more people accept that number after watching the series from start to finish. I believe anyone who takes an unbiased look at what was spent compared to what was produced would share the same sentiment as me. Unfortunately, I think Disney would prefer to wash its hands of that show and pretend like it was never created in the first place.
Let me preface my statements by saying that I like the BTT channel for Grace's business viewpoints on the entertainment industry. A few videos back, Grace said she would be doing breakdowns of the Agatha show and not of the Penguin show as "nobody would be watching the Penguin". I winced when she made that decision. Grace usually glosses over her past mistakes (I understand the need for self-promotion in the UA-cam market). But I take this video as somewhat of Grace's confessional of her mistake. So I'm glad that she can show some humility in her on-screen persona.
The HBO/Max numbers were domestic only. From the deadline article, "In the U.S., the series debut of the HBO Original averaged 5.3 million cross platform U.S. viewers over its weekend debut. The Matt Reeves series dropped first on Max before premiering Sunday on HBO".
22:21 this is a Good point and It's worrisome that channels like this give as much credit, or all the credit, of the Multiverse Of Madness box office to Wanda. She was extremely important in the movie, but Strange is a character of her level or higher. With an extremely important participation in Infinity War and Endgame, besides it was a Sam Reimi movie, that is, Wanda was crucial in the success of the movie, but a hypothetical film of hers would be her, along with a cast similar to Wandavision (and Agatha's unfortunately), without Sam Reimi and with a cameo, at most, of Dr Strange. It seems dangerous to me to expect a billion dollars from that movie B.s: maybe with Magneto, Polaris or some
Grace I have to give this feedback. You desperately need a mic. The change in volume between your stream and the ad breaks is dramatic. I have to turn up my volume to max to hear you and then when the ad comes in it’s bombastically loud. I don’t know if anyone experiences this but I’ve had it occur on every stream and video. 😢
The Penguin and Agatha viewership would be the same if you took the average and made the days the same. Of course, the difference is Disney+ is available worldwide, HBOMaxx is NOT. So there you go ;)
How do you feel about fact Agatha All Along has the lowest budget of any MCU show?? Echo cost $40M so Agatha would be less. I feel the numbers don’t have to be as high as long as the quality is good and you build a solid fan base.
I love Wanda but i'm not super hyped for a possible Wanda movie after Multiverse of madness they wasted her big moment there and i fear it would be like the black window movie situation all over again a solo movie that is so late to the party that is not even about her anymore. Btw marvel says a lot about making strong female characters but they failed both black window and scarlet witch 2 of their main female characters and some of the most popular ones
I think a Wanda redemption movie would be incredible, but only if Jac Schaefer writes it. She took a C-lost character in Wandavision and made her infinitely more interesting. She gave her agency, made her relatable & overall more interesting. Unfortunately Michael Waldron threw this all away though.
Nobody really cares about agatha and nobody asked for this. for the minority of people who do like it and want it they can have their fun for one season and we can all move on. it is what it is 🤷♂
I saw Twitter claims that Agatha is Disney+ most affordable show to produce yet, so weighed against cost, I would assume that makes the viewership better in overall context in a business sense?
I’m confused. So Percy Jackson, acolytes and Ashoka has had 2 ep counted and they ranged from 11-14; however, Agatha only had one ep viewership counted for 9?; if I do to the math, shouldn’t Agatha’s viewership be kinda hopeful? It’s like saying that someone sold 4 merch for $65 and someone else sold 2 merch for $55. Like-
Agatha I doubt will go toxic, it has a target audience and I expect they will like it. Personally I thought the first two episodes were good but it looks pretty grim after watching episode 3.
Love that you spotlight classic enduring films including Hitchcock, Crawford, Clift, Mildred Pierce, Giant, Suddenly, Last Summer, East of Eden & It’s a Wonderful Life! ❤
I know a lot people waiting for the end of Agatha to binge-watching it. They prefer getting word of mouth that the shows is good all the way to the end, n binge watch it making it easier to digest most of the show while feeling u getting all the good parts fast n nonstop, while just cruising to the slugs that u would not feel as much.
I cannot stress this enough, there is really ONE group of people who give a fuck about representation in media. That is why hyping up representation, hoping for representation, or encouraging people to watch because of representation have more strikeouts then hits. If a show or movie is good, the average person does not give a fuck about its representation. I think about all the media I have consumed since the early 80s, and I never once watched, did not watch, or hate-watch something due to representation. I am no one special, so I highly doubt I am the only person who feels this way.
They need to give a show time to grow a large audience. Multiple seasons. Everyone expects huge numbers for Agatha (a very obscure character) just because its Marvel. Is that really fair?
I don't understand, why are we expecting ratings on the part of Falcon of the winter soldier by a spin off with a bunch of unknown characters (non appeared in the movies) Maybe a halloween special in the vein of Werewolf by night. And leave the sequel to vision story?
I Wonder Why female led shows like Blue-Eyed Samurai or Arcane do well across the board critically and commercially, escape the toxicity while Marvel and Star Wars do not any longer.
Місяць тому+5
Because animation is very nich, and marvel and starwars are brands pretty maintrem at this point
Samurai is a new show so I'll give you that but Arcane is huge. It started off as a video game and Word of Mouth stretched it to the normies. Disney's animated movies were suffering for a long time and faced a lot of the same issues that Marvel and Disney did. What about alien Romulus, that's a female lead movie that is doing well and escaped to the drama.
Disney plus marvel shows, one shots etc.. overall have not been a disappointment to me and most folks looking at the rt scores and imdb scores. Not everyone watch everything, mcu,dc or star wars etc.. and by the way most folks are liking disney plus marvel more then the past marvel tv stuff on average looking at the scores i posted here somewhere.
I just cancel my subscription to Disney because the price don’t match the quality of the products! This shows are to weak for me and don’t even bring me any interest anymore! Hope for a better future!
I’m so confused. Wanda isn’t even in this show, so I think that more speaks to her popularity than lack thereof. Everyone I know has seen wandavision and talks so highly of it. I think if she was coming back we’d see different ratings. Marvel casuals I know have such positive impressions of her
How about giving us shows about characters we actually give a fuck about? Instead of some niche villain that was popular 3 1/2 years ago. Where is Kate Bishop, Moon Knight, Shang Chi?
If another company like Sony had those characters they would have a shorter turn-around time. If it was me, instead of doing _Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania_ I'd have called it _Avengers: Quantumania_ and had Ant-Man, Wasp, Shang-Chi, Wong, War Machine and someone else to get involved in the Quantum Realm between two versions of Kang fighting the multiverse war that "He Who Remains" talked about. Instead at the end there was a party of Kangs getting along, and they all pretty much had the same face, which the Loki variants didn't have.
@@mildhoof Well Amy Pascal at Sony says she in charge of the "good" Spider-Man movies, and someone else is in charge of the Spider-Manless movies. I think they did a great job with Tom Holland's Spider-Man in 3 Marvel movies, and a good job with the three Spider-Man Sony movies and two Miles Morales Spider-Man animated movies, but not with the spinoffs.
One thing about HBO shows - lower budget but also made for a different purpose. The Successions and True Detectives of the world are “prestige” shows that are made to attract attention at the Emmys and Golden Globes. Disney makes shows just to make that dough.
also, wiccan is such a disappointment. this is not a character who's gonna go long in the mcu, there is nothing in wiccan that appeals the main mcu audience.
I enjoyed Agatha. But I enjoyed it in a watch when you can kind of way. It's just not appointment television. The Penguin has lower numbers but after I watched episode one (also on my own time) I felt like I wanted to watch episode 2 right away. It's appointment television even if at a smaller number.
I guess it just comes down to different tastes. I enjoyed ep 1 of the penguin enough that I'll probably come back to binge it later, but for me Agatha is absolutely appointment television. They're also very different shows, and I think there's room for both to be successful.
There's so much "CONTENT" out there. That's Marvel/DC/Star Wars' REAL PROBLEM. No one has time for OK shows/movies. Their biggest strength was that most of Marvels stuff was GOOD to GREAT well told and interconnected. Now it's their biggest weakness, ONE good show or movie won't bring people back bc the stuff surrounding it is subpar.
I haven’t enjoy a marvel project as much as Agatha in a long while! So good
I haven’t enjoyed a marvel project in a long while either
As a woman who likes genre content I admit that the majority of women just aren't interested and never will be.

@sandal_thong8631 Possibly, but how many women who saw The Incredibles movies were mothers taking their kids to see the film?
A majority of women have no interest in Superhero content .
Same with science fiction.
Has been this way for quite a while.
No one else

!!!!!
@@Relugus In the first Secret Wars, the Enchantress was on the side of villains, opposite Thor. Maybe that's where Wanda/Scarlet Witch is going?
Yea, I don't think disney will care that they are d list

Great word of mouth? Really?
@@marvel22-mf1jsidk personally I stoped enjoying the MCU shows halfway through Hawkeye, I kept falling asleep during the episodes, everything since then really hasn't heard my attention. So many people were saying "who wants this show" before Agatha releases so these numbers aren't a terrible start. It has 9 episodes to build up viewership and the word of mouth has been positive unlike other shows on that list.
Good point. Well made but i still think without Wanda it's in trouble
Yeah I haven't watched a MCU show since she-hulk and this is the first one that I am remotely interested in catching up on once it wraps
Agatha has worst global numbers than The Acolyte. I doubt it’ll be in the Nielsen ratings at all 🤷🏼♂️
Problem is, we have seen during these years that hardly any new show is capable of building an audience during the course of just one season (Wednesday being the first exception that comes to my mind), so we will probably see Agatha's numbers fall from the second week, especially because there will be just one new episode released weekly (so fewer minutes of show to watch), after the first two.
Grace still hasnt accepted the fact that her opinion on Multiverse of madness was the minority
I've been enjoying every episode of the Agatha show!
I hope it's not too expensive! Disney Plus shows tend to cost so much...
There’s an important mistake here, Disney + numbers are worldwide, Max’s numbers are domestic
If it's true, Agatha's numbers are even worse than how they appear in Grace's list...
That's my understanding too.
Correct. Many people know this, so should Grace.
Edited above.
@@crestedargo4663 I don't know about Max but the Disney numbers are worldwide indeed.
I think not everything is for everyone no matter how much representation you add to it.
A new report came out saying that The Acolyte's budget was really $230 million.
The show cost 179 million British pounds so 230 million dollars is correct.
@mildhoof disney/marvel did not make the production cost public.
Shocking. They could have made a proper film for that.
@dutch3533 True, but I doubt that Agatha costs $230 million.
Why spend millions and millions of dollars on Agatha's show and not spend that money on Wanda?! That's the big question.
I think we have to remember that Disney+ has increased their prices and have cracked down on password sharing. This has to have had an effect on viewership.
For existing users, yes. But they're also running promos for people to get DisneyPlus at a dollar and ninety nine cents at the same time.
Yes, I agree. I think after prices went up and it became more difficult to share accounts, the people who kept Disney+ were using it for their kids.
Can I ask you how Disney Plus has cracked down on password sharing in the US? It's the same as Netflix? In my country it seems they still haven't done it...

Didn’t seem to affect Netflix
FYI that 5.3 Million figure for The Penguin is only US viewership.
It's worth noting that D+ reports worldwide viewership but HBO reports US viewership only. So Penguin got 5.3m over 4 days in the US and Agatha got 9.3m in its first 7 days globally.
And they only counted one ep for the acolyte as well btw.

Who Is wiccan?
Like I’ve been saying for years… no Wanda, no watch.
They could’ve made the exact same show but featured Wanda and it would’ve done so much better.
Hahahahahah Wiccan will be forgotten before anything he appears in.
That's the problem no one wants to mention.
Women aren't supporting these projects as much as they need to for them to be successful.
Agatha is the only Marvel show that my female roommate has ever wanted to watch, and she’s loving it.
I know for sure that The Acolyte only had 1 episode measured when its viewership was reported if you read the articles about the acolyte's viewership.
Or a movie released to theaters. ❤
HBO shows here are US numbers only, where as the Disney+ show here are world wide. So the comparrison is actually even worse for all the Disney shows.
I think there's not quote unquote toxicity discussion around this show because people have settled into apathy for Marvel.
Thank goodness
Very predictable, they really fucked up the casting of Wiccan, and making this all about Agatha.
I'm going to binge watch Agatha.... So maybe a lot of others will too. I'm excited for the show
As much as I started liking the show, the MCU brand is damaged after low-lows such as Secret Invasion and Quantumania, and let's not forget this is a pseudo-aftermath to Multiverse of Madness, which sunk the franchise like Batman v Superman did for the DCEU.
Reading the reactions and comments to this week's Jujutsu Kaisen paints a completely opposite picture of demographics opposed to current MCU.

ep2 is even worse!
I didn't like majority of episode 1 becasue of the detective character Agatha was stuck as. But she breaks out of it at the end of the epsidoe and then things kick off. Epsiode 2 and 3 are total solid
East of Eden, wasn’t that also a mini series back in the day, ca 1980-81? That told more from the book? Jane Saymour played Pughs character I think.
Gotta say I’ve loved Agatha so far, is giving me Labyrinth / Time Bandits / Cartoon Dungeons and Dragons vibes
I think regarding Agatha it must be considered that the show is not allowed in many countries (in the whole middle east Disney Agatha is not streamed, but the Acolyte it). There is also the fact that it is much cheaper than other Marvel shows.
Really I didn't know that
I think Agatha’s viewership reflects the fact that Marvel has spent a lot of their goodwill with fans when it comes to tv shows and people are proceeding cautiously aka waiting for good WOM after serious duds like Echo and Secret Invasion.

Frankly, 'The Penguin' is adult psychological drama, whereas 'Agatha All Along' is goofy fluff.
It seems dangerous to me to expect a billion dollars from that movie
B.s: maybe with Magneto, Polaris or some
Yeah, that could work: a reboot movie with her, Magneto and Pietro. But they might not cast Olsen as Wanda.
Like-
"99% confirmed!" What a ridiculous notion.
Wasn't that the hope for other series that underperformed, like _She-Hulk?_
Sorry, but I have a hard time being sympathetic to the big umbrella argument when there hasn't been the same concern for the male centered content.
Right on point!
They need to give a show time to grow a large audience. Multiple seasons. Everyone expects huge numbers for Agatha (a very obscure character) just because its Marvel. Is that really fair?
I don't understand, why are we expecting ratings on the part of Falcon of the winter soldier by a spin off with a bunch of unknown characters (non appeared in the movies)
Maybe a halloween special in the vein of Werewolf by night. And leave the sequel to vision story?
Agatha as a C or D character. I think the numbers are great.
I Wonder Why female led shows like Blue-Eyed Samurai or Arcane do well across the board critically and commercially, escape the toxicity while Marvel and Star Wars do not any longer.
You really do not see the difference between Arcane and The Acolyte?
Story and the fan bases are fairly new compared to those IP’s
Disney plus marvel shows, one shots etc.. overall have not been a disappointment to me and most folks looking at the rt scores and imdb scores. Not everyone watch everything, mcu,dc or star wars etc.. and by the way most folks are liking disney plus marvel more then the past marvel tv stuff on average looking at the scores i posted here somewhere.
I love the mini reviews! I hope you have a great weekend Grace
I have little patience for Disney marvel content. It’s a given that the quality will be low and not worth investing your time
I told y’all that Joe Locke casting hurt the show
Its always cosmix & poke who want to boop grace into the next story 😐
The only one that shares the blame is the showrunner-she made these decisions
Grace. The Penguin numbers are domestic only. Agatha numbers are worldwide. Which is why, they are much much better.
I just cancel my subscription to Disney because the price don’t match the quality of the products! This shows are to weak for me and don’t even bring me any interest anymore! Hope for a better future!
Grace, you should do a video where you are actually positive about James Gunn and DC.
How the hell was Tony Stark beef cake?
@@sandal_thong8631 As troubled as the MCU may have been in phase 4, thank GOD it's not Sony at the helm 🤣
That guy has everything going on
I enjoyed Agatha.
Agatha getting its sh!t pushed in by Penguin in review scores and viewership 😁😁
Fwiw I actually reactivated my Disney+ account to watch Agatha and will keep it active through the whole season. I wonder how many of me there are
I did too! It’s honestly become a highlight of my week ✨
Sorry but I don't think anyone else is pushing this actors following actors footsteps narrative...it's like trying to make fetch happen...
After decades of movies, event & tv don’t go together. Maybe the MCU doesn’t belong on tv. Unfortunately the movies have gone downhill. 😔
I signed up for the new Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle just for Agatha All Along.
