    Hi Amy! I just got done making a pair of watermelon slice earrings and I’ve watched a few of your other tutorials. They are so easy to follow and I’m
    learning so much from you so thank you! I was just wondering if you would put any kind of backing on these earrings? Or not necessary since there are three layers. Thank you again for the great videos!

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  2 роки тому +2

      Hi, Tina! For multi-layered earrings, I only but a backing (like heat transfer vinyl) on the bottom layer. I hope that helps! :)

      I did.
      I just got my cricut 2 days ago and I feel like I’m in slavery haha minus the abuse lol.
      I can’t step away from it!
      I make earrings and cut them from hand at first because the metal cut board I got was so close together that it would cut into my faux leather and waste material!
      This joy is a game changer all around!
      So glad my fiancé got it for me!

    Hi! Great tutorial ! I didn't know the joy could handle material like this. How do you go about choosing the material? Does it have to be a certain thickness? Thank you!

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  2 роки тому +2

      Hi, Andrea! Yes, it can! Honestly, 99% of the faux leather sheets you can buy are the right thickness (that being said, I would avoid double sided faux leathers, because they are too thick to cut well). I have a post on my blog about the best places to buy faux leather, if you want to check it out: amyromeu.com/best-places-buy-faux-leather-cricut-earrings/

    I'm trying to make earings with a flower in the middle and the detail that's cutting keeps lifting from the mat and ruined the flower. Any advice?

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  2 роки тому

      Hi, Ana! Are you cutting from chunky glitter? It's best to use a simple design when cutting chunky glitter. If your design is too complex, it may not cut well.

    What did you use the punch whole for?

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  4 роки тому +2

      nana c Thank you for the comment. I’m glad you found it helpful! I use the hole punch in the video to punch the earring holes in the faux leather. It is a 1/16” hole punch, so the hole is very small and the perfect size for faux leather earrings. :)

    Will you know by the faux leather when it is time to use the deep point blade?

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi, great question! I would say if the faux leather is thick, test cut a small shape with the fine point blade (with "more") pressure and repeat the cut a few times. If that doesn't go all the way through, then try the same small shape with the deep point blade. :)

    I saw a comment as to "why do you mirror?" Does it flip the image and cut backwards? I'm also new to this and thinking of buying a Cricut Joy!

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  2 роки тому

      Hi, thanks for your comment! You will love the Joy, it's so fun to use, and very versatile. Heat transfer vinyl cuts in reverse, face down so to speak, so the design has to be mirrored when it cuts. This is super important when cutting text or any design that has a specific left and right direction. :)

    Do you have to use the tape to keep it in place?

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  3 місяці тому

      Hi, thanks for your question! Do you mean the blue painter's tape? Yes, it keeps the faux leather in place so it doesn't shift during the cut. :)

  • @TheWendy0507

    Is it necessary to put de designside down on the mat? I understand that you did it with the glitter, but is that how you are suppose to do it with all material? I just bought a machine and all the video’s I can find are in English, sometimes hard for me to understand as a Dutchie, so I couldn’t find a lot about this.

    • @AmyRomeu
      @AmyRomeu  3 роки тому +1

    • @AmyRomeu

      Hi, Marlene! All of the current Cricut machines can cut faux leather, but for bows, you'll want one of the Maker or Explore machines to cut the larger bow shapes on the 12x12 mat. :)

      Sorry to hear that! Have you tried using a small silicone stopper? You can thread those onto the back of the earring hook after it's in your ear and then the hook can't slip out. :)
