You're very nice. Unpretentious and relatable. I love Chewy so please keep featuring him. I'm 71 and am not much of a cook so thank you for the simple foods. Keep at it, you're doing great.
He's something else. I named him after Chewbacca, from Star Wars because of his hairy feet. ( : I know, was hoping my daughter and her boyfriend would take some of them but they gathered two dozen more this afternoon before they came to my house. I'm glad I made the store bought ones I had into deviled eggs for an appetizer before dinner.
LOOK at all of us subscribers ! There is place for your type of sweetness and calm. I hope each person will remember to press LIKE. The recipe looks very good. My husband and I travel full time in our RV. We try to be very frugal most of the time so this will be enjoyed. I look forward to following your channel and watch you become very confident behind the camera. By the way, you have a lovely smile.
I’m 73 and also a retired nurse. Cooking for one isn’t always enjoyable. Seeing videos like yours helps. I don’t enjoy cooking for myself so I’m enjoying finding simple recipes that I can convert to small meals and freeze portions. I cooked for my family for many years and the last three years it’s just been me. It’s an adjustment learning to cook small meals for one. Thank you for sharing your recipe and video.
It is hard to cook for one person. I only recently started making smaller pots of soup. I was so used to just making a massive pot. Then I kept seeing youtubers just making enough for one or two bowls. I will still make big pots of it if I have vegetables about to go bad, though. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations on over 1,000 subscribers, Kathleen! That was wonderfully fast. I really enjoyed watching you make those simple meals. Again, so yummy! Blessings from Up North (Canada)!
I've found that farm fresh eggs are generally larger than store eggs & have a richer yellow color. Happy cooking! I wish you much success with your channel.
Hi, cabbage can become a deconstructed cabbage roll casserole. Although I prefer a hot coleslaw. You're my age so I can attest that our kids are at that stage when they have no clue what it's like dealing with all the changes and challenges, building a support group via YT for ideas, suggestions and motivation is wise. You're so humble and sweet. That's why we all love you and support you. Love Chewy too! You're doing a great job. I'm proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone . The drive was nice and sunset was beautiful. xo
You're doing great! Actually, it's refreshing to experience your calm and soft spoken demeanor. Sometimes I've watched/listened to others and their TV is blaring in the background, they are shouting and I exit the video. We live in the country and really cherish the quiet. However, talk about always needing to attend to cleaning floors. Yes, I'm right there with you. I'm curious about sprouting and we actually got a sprouting set up, but we've not yet used it. Just something we saw at a garage sale. Any tips would really be welcomed. Thank you so much and take good care.
Am so glad your channel came my way, because you are so calm and pleasant to watch and listen to. Watch you in the evening, from here in the California Sierra between :Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park where we have snow.
Such a beautiful area. My dad retired in Northern Nevada, so graduated from high school there. A friend and I used to drive to Lake Tahoe to "lay out" on giant boulders on the shore and have a picnic in the summers. Thanks for watching!
Kentucky is such a beautiful state. What a nice son you have to take you on a drive like that and let you film. Sounds like you got two wonderful gifts from the marriage you were in... your son and your daughter. I enjoy your channel and your simple recipes. They're just right for singles or couples who don't have big appetites anymore.
Howdy from Texas! 🙋🏻♀️ You’re such an inspiration! I’ve had my channel since 2016 and have only done a few videos for a tomato growing challenge in 2023. I’m not so quiet though. ☺️Riding in the country is one of my favorite things to do. Loved the beautiful ride. Your doggy is a sweety.
Hello henny! I’ve never thought of mixing eggs and cabbage, sounds and looks delish. Please consider doing a video on the seed sprouting process, looks intriguing. Hope you have a nice weekend henny 😊
I really like your channel especially how you refer back to your mother's cooking , it's amazing how much we learn from our mothers just hanging out in the kitchen and observing their process. Thank you for the relaxing and informative video. 🎄
Sometimes, our kids do not need to know what we are doing. I am 42 and have a 23 and about to be 18... they think they are smarter than us... i am 42 and look to older people for advice... The only thing I agree with when it comes to where you live. Please be mindful... there are crazy people out there.. I am glad u were in my recommendations new follower.
I subscribed yesterday. My family is from Tennessee, I'm currently living in Vegas, I have already gotten ideas for meals from you that I didn't think of, you also remind me of my Momma, she's two years older than you. You're my new comfort channel 💗
This is my second video of yours I’ve seen today. You are a sweet lady and I love where this channel is going. I’m older than you but I’m learning also. Your dog is adorable ❤❤. Enjoy your week
I was so happy to see you'd posted again! This is my kind of recipe. I love every ingredient, and it was so quick to prepare. You have a supporter in Texas!
I have done a little sprouting too, but usually in the winter when fresh veggies are expensive and not very tasty. You are doing fine with your videos, your meals look good, and I can hear you fine. Your sweet personality shines through, don't let any future negative comments or your children discourage you. Kentucky is a beautiful state, have driven through it a few times. Thank you for having the courage to make your videos!
G'day from Australia 🇦🇺 I'm 48 years old. I love to cook, my maternal grandmother and mother both are fantastic cooks it's where I get the love for food and cooking. I live semi off grid in the Australian bush and do most of my cooking out doors simply because I enjoy it. Chewy is gorgeous! I have an 8-year-old amstaff called Dougee. Keep up the videos they are great!
i cooked plain cabbage tonite and have leftovers and now that you mention beef soup....i know whats on my menu tomorrow and it will be perfect because we have rain all day.
My Dad was Canadian Navy. My Mom was a teacher. So we weren't poor, but we had to watch the budget. And I worked retail until my health failed. So I was on welfare for years, then disability. Life does throw us opportunities to be frugal!😊
Thank you for sharing your tips and recipes with everyone . This dish reminds me of a dish called Okonomiyaki ( pancake ) or a twist on it because it has bacon and cabbage. With how expensive everything is these days we have been trying to be frugal so when one of your videos appeared in my news feed I subscribed.
I agree. With everything so expensive these days it’s nice to find a channel with a nice pleasant lady showing us how to make quick, easy and as cost effective as possible foods. Not only do I enjoy her cooking and tips, Kathleen is like having that nice next door neighbor lady who invites you in and you’re happy to have a nice little chat with as she’s making something in the kitchen.😊
Hi Kathleen ~ Just subscribed. Love your content. I can't wait until Spring to see what you do with your garden. I went to your community page. You have a beautiful garden. Chewy is Adorable. Looking forward to many, many more videos. Please dont feel discouraged. You're doing great❤
Would you please show us more uses for the sprouted seeds? I know they are a powerhouse of nutrients, but I don’t know how to incorporate them in my cooking. Any advice would be so much appreciated. Congratulations on your channel. I know you will help a lot of people.🥰
I believe there's a Japanese recipe called "okonomiyaki" I hope spelling is correct but I think it's very similar to this it tastes amazing I made the same by chance trying to use up some leftover food I had some fried cabbage and added egg n parmesan cheese thanks for your down to earth attitude and normal food recipes that I think people will really enjoy n can afford
Congratulations on your 1000+ subbies.🎉 Thank you for showing the car drive. I really miss KY. I have to go visit soon. My family is from Paris, Lexington, Georgetown, Louisville, Paducah and more.
That looks good.I crave eggs and cabbage a lot.My husband makes a cabbage carrot, potatoes and smoked sasage soup.I like you're calm personality. Its calm and peaceful.
Been really enjoying your videos! I'm very happy that you've decided to share your life with UA-cam even though the attention can be intimidating at times -- that takes a lot of courage! It's easier to tease than it is to create!
Love this recipe idea, I enjoy "rice bowl" type meals. I have a bit of cabbage in the fridge right now needing to be used up & always keep white rice in the freezer to build meals with. Sugar in the eggs felt like a very Japanese technique. I half expected some mirin too. Hope to try this in the next few days. You're doing great.
Please be careful and don't give to much information on your location , state ok but be careful even showing to much yard . One you tuber had a guy show up at her house cause he googled her area and found her address from picture of the Yard . And where you stated you live alone . Maybe block your house on Google . I hope I am not scaring you not my intent . I am subscribed and looking forward to adventure of frugal living with you and others . Doing a 2 month pantry challenge . Gieaning ideas . Blessings always to you.❤
so glad i found you by mistake last night . i tried to do a video once and i never did another one . maybe i'll try again . i'm going to be 61 and i live in michigan .you are doing way better than i did with my video . lmao .ok keep up the good content and i just love your dog . have a great night .
Howdy!!! Dont put your videos down!!!! Theyre pretty good,!!!!! I hav very bad internet tonite i live in the mountains and i think we got a snowstorm.coming!!!
The cabbage and egg and cheese dish looks really good! I bet my family would love it. I buy bacon when it is on sale and cut the pound in quarters and freeze them, just to have a little bacon flavor in dishes. Gonna try it soon. I dehydrate cabbage when it is on a huge sale, I wonder how it would work in this dish? Will have to reconstitute it and try. My adult kids put american cheese in their raymeon!
A new subscriber here!!! Happy New Year, Kathleen 🎉 You are such a sweet soul and are very courageous for starting a UA-cam channel. I wish you success in the New Year and abundant blessings. Thank you for your content.😊
OMG I just made this recipe. It was delicious. im guessing that you are a very good cook. Would love it if you made a video of your beef vegetable soup. Thank you for your channel.
Glad you liked it! I had a lot of exchange students over the years who liked it okay, which is one reason I went ahead and made it for a video. Quick, cheap, and delicious.
Very nice video. I do get a bit sick with the driving unless you are going straight, but the curves do me in, so I shut my eyes! KY is a beautiful state. Chewy is quite handsome!
Thanks! Sorry if my vidoes made you sick. I get motion sick myself if I look out the side window too long or some movies or tv shows. I think it was CSI from years ago that I could never watch because of that.
Another garden show i watch she orders 108" wide full bolt tulle like the wedding dress stuff in green so it blends in landscape for bug netting. I forget how many yards it is but is alot. From ebay. cheapest ones they hav. Apparently it lasts a long time. I ordered one bolt of it but havnt used it yet. "Robbie and gary gardening easy" or something like that. She also makes tons of hummingbird feeders for hundreds of hummingbirds!!!! She has some good ideas to make gardening easier for older people!!!!! Shes in California.
The algorithm sent your video my way. Did it know I’m frugal too? I even thought of eggs and cabbage recently but went for eggs and potatoes instead. Now I’m rethinking as your dish sounds tasty. Frugal too with my travels and imagining that’s me (I live in WA state) and my daughter who lives in KY driving together through the back roads in her neck of the woods. It’s been way too long since I’ve had the funds to go visit her but at least this brought a little joy if even for just a moment. New subscriber here wishing you lots of luck.
It's a little scary how our computers/phones are paying attention to us, isn't it? Hope you get to visit your daughter in the new year! Thanks for subscribing!
I love the growth in confidence I'm seeing from your first vid (which I only just watched within the hour!), to the second, to this third vid! You have a good energy - and it's attracting good energy to you - I so love this for you! One thing I would advise, is that you not give too much info, or show too much of your immediate surroundings that could be used to find your location. I don't want to scare you, but there are legitimately scary people out there, and they can get ideas about interacting with you in person, and could try to search you out... To avoid issues, don't show use wide-shots for your close surroundings that could show more than you realize - which could make the area easier to identify. When you go out exploring away from where you live, you can experiment then with wide-shots of scenery... Best wishes to you - and don't pay attention to your children if they tease you - because you're just a few vids in, and you're already slaying it!😊🎉 Oh! I forgot to mention it before, but I subbed after watching your first vid!😉
Hi there! Glad to see another video from you. I haven’t seen alfalfa sprouts in a long time! I love them so much. I will have to get some soon. Love the cabbage egg recipe idea, too. Hoping egg prices go down soon but not holding my breath on it.
We lived in Fukoka city for four years , 1959 to 1964 I believe , when I was a small child. A woman there came once a week and helped my mother in the house and we became quite close to her and her husband. They were like grandparents to me I called the Mammason and Pappason. I was with them at their home as much as I was at home. She made a sort of fried rice dish. Rice, cabbage, small cubes of ham and an egg. No cheese. But anyway. I still love it to this day.
Give ‘‘em hell ..We are behind you. I was a nurse and then taught school. I grew up very poor. Keep the videos coming….Check Clara’s depression foods. She is gone now but her grandson puts her videos on… you at least have your kids around. Mine have not talked to me in 20 years. so you are blessed. Like your videos….
It's so nice to get to know you. I know you will do well on here bc you are genuine, Doing good 'trying' to be frugal, like everything you'll get better and better at it. Your garden is already good-sized. Chewie is a cutie. Do you like butternut squash or any of the winter squash? Even if they don't get to full size I have picked all mine and pureed them and freeze in quart/pint bags. Versatile veggie for sides and desserts.
@@kathleensmith6200 That's wonderful Chewie loves it! So nutritious, I've even microwaved a sweet potato for a quick snack. Looking forward to your next video.
Hi Kathleen you have reached out to 1000 subscribers in just a few days so you must be doing something right. I tried the recipe from your first video,it was yummy so that’s one I will be doing again. I love one pan meals. I also use my slow cooker for meals that need longer cooking. Don’t worry about what your kids thing you are doing great, they will be happy for you when your channel gets monetised. I always view food in the freezer and pantry is as good as money in the bank. I use my freezer to allow me to buy larger sizes to reduce the price per Kg. I also freeze and reduced or free food I get like blackberries when in season. Any other fruits/veg people offer me when they have a glut.
new here . I am also in central Ky near ft.knox , When Im recording my dog looks at me like im crazy to lol like who are you talking to . Have a good day. night or what ever time..
You're very nice. Unpretentious and relatable. I love Chewy so please keep featuring him. I'm 71 and am not much of a cook so thank you for the simple foods. Keep at it, you're doing great.
Thank you!
Chewy has the cutest ears!! And 50 free eggs is like a $20 value, that's amazing!
He's something else. I named him after Chewbacca, from Star Wars because of his hairy feet. Thanks. Crazy about the subscribers!? I watch a lot of van life people on youtube. I love to travel and do so as cheaply as possible.
@kathleensmith6200 We LOVE this adventure in our old age 71&73. Keeps us young feeling

Hard to believe! Thanks!
Over 1000 now! 🎉👏👏👏
I've found that farm fresh eggs are generally larger than store eggs & have a richer yellow color. Happy cooking! I wish you much success with your channel.
Thanks!
Have a Blessed and Productive New Year.
Thank you!
You're so humble and sweet. That's why we all love you and support you. Love Chewy too! You're doing a great job. I'm proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone . The drive was nice and sunset was beautiful. xo
Thank you so much!
Please talk about your seed process. Thanks! A terrific video!!
I will, it's very easy. Thank you!
Thanks. Sprouting video soon
Absolutely love your channel ❤️ Great content!
Thank you!
Thanks!
My mom just passed in March 2024, She was 89 and would have been 90 this month. She was Japanese too…My dad was retired Air Force… miss her so much 😭
I'm so sorry. Big hugs to you.

Take care and hope you keep watching.
i cooked plain cabbage tonite and have leftovers and now that you mention beef soup....i know whats on my menu tomorrow and it will be perfect because we have rain all day.
Sounds great!
I recently made cabbage "steaks" (a head of cabbage cut into round pieces and roasted). They were delicious.
Wow. I've never eaten a meal like this. I'm definitely gna try this. I don't eat a lot of sugar so I will omit that.
Hope you enjoy
Hello from Texas. I'm glad I found your channel. Keep it going.
Thanks for watching!
Keep going!! I’d love for you to get enough subscribers to start getting monetized! ❤😊
Thanks! Hopefully someday!
Will try and find her channel, thanks!
Best wishes to you - and don't pay attention to your children if they tease you - because you're just a few vids in, and you're already slaying it!😊🎉
Oh! I forgot to mention it before, but I subbed after watching your first vid!😉
Thank you!
@kathleensmith6200 - You're very welcome!
Hi there! Glad to see another video from you. I haven’t seen alfalfa sprouts in a long time! I love them so much. I will have to get some soon. Love the cabbage egg recipe idea, too. Hoping egg prices go down soon but not holding my breath on it.
Thanks! I don't remember when I last saw them in the stores either. I guess too many recalls?
Great video! My son is Korean. You are so relatable, and I am really enjoying your videos. Please keep your sweet pup in future videos!
Thanks for watching!
This meal looks really filling.....
It really is. I used to eat a large plateful when I was a kid. Can't do that anymore.
This looks great.I’ll try it soon.
Thanks
It just takes one share and in people come! You seem like a kind person and you are doing great so far!
Thanks. I am kinda shocked right now that so many people have subscribed.
Would love to live in Japan for a year or so.
Just subscribed😊 congrats on your MANY MANY SUBS! WOW!!!
Thanks for subbing!

You’re a very pleasant person to watch. 😊 I’d like to see a video showing us how you make your Moms spaghetti sauce!
Maybe one day!
I've seen Clara's videos in the past, will have to check it out again. Sorry to hear about your kids. Take care.
Your mom's recipe looks good Kathleen 😋
Thanks
It's so nice to get to know you. I know you will do well on here bc you are genuine, Doing good 'trying' to be frugal, like everything you'll get better and better at it. Your garden is already good-sized. Chewie is a cutie. Do you like butternut squash or any of the winter squash? Even if they don't get to full size I have picked all mine and pureed them and freeze in quart/pint bags. Versatile veggie for sides and desserts.
Thank you. Yes, Chewie especially likes all kinds of winter squash. I grow it every year. I grow those and sweet potatoes mainly for him.
@@kathleensmith6200 That's wonderful Chewie loves it! So nutritious, I've even microwaved a sweet potato for a quick snack. Looking forward to your next video.
If you add a couple of tablespoons of water or milk to the eggs, it will increase the volume of your scrambled eggs. It'll also make them fluffier.
I used to add milk to my scrambled eggs but I don't anymore.
Thanks
