Now, if Virgil does get injured and has to miss considerable time then our defense won't be as good if you're comparing a Virgil/Konate (#1 preferred pairing) or Virgil/Gomez (probably the 2nd best option) pairing vs a Konate/Gomez (third option) or Konate/Quansah (which should only happen if both Virgil and Gomez are injured/unavailable). And honestly, the majority of our defensive mistakes lately have come from Robertson to the point that for now I'd rather see Tsimikas starting. He might not offer the offense that Robertson does going forward, but his defense is more steady and solid and IMO that's a bigger need as we have loads of attacking options. LFC is unwilling to break the pay structure which is understandable, but these 3’s performances are doing all the talking at the moment. I don’t see the contract negotiations settled soon and won’t be surprised if they are stretched well into the 2nd quarter of 2025.
