  • I walked miles today and came across some interesting locations and found a few old things. First thing I did was hike up to the top of a good size hill with my Fisher F19 to see if I could find anything, I did not but at least I went and checked. I then started a very large hike exploring and doing some landscape history reading the land. I came to a spot that had been dug out decades ago and there was some interesting dump stuff like an old 6 volt flashlight and probably a 100 year old milk container of all things. Exploring these old deserted New England farmlands is amazing when you really look around and see it all over grown. I finally came out to an old road that had nice rock walls so I did a bit more metal detecting and finally found a nice 1700s Tombac button. The whole point of taking these adventures is not so much the relic hunting and finding old stuff. It is soaking in all the history of these deserted places and reading the land to see where people did things long ago. a great day !

💥💥💥💥That awesome flashlight! You took that home right? Super nice! A little touch-up and anything shaped like an old battery would make that a super display piece. Use cardboard box or a block of wood for a replica battery.

Glad you found the button towards the end of your excursion. I did like the milk can you came across as well. I would probably have emptied the soil out and hooked the bail/handle onto my pack and hauled that out too. (?)

have you guys collaboratively tried to get a "BULLETT BOARD" (cartridge casing) going? per se for the "CABIN"....save all those old casings and eyeball or clean them up and add to the board...if ya find a better example swap it out...I said one day ya know what as long as I find all these old casings I should just try and complete a collection...sometimes I get lucky and find a complete live round from the 1800s...there plenty of research material to ID and date....I especially like finding them surplus Army casings..headstamped with the location and date when and where made....WW1 WW2 Korea dates are pieces of history

You're happy about finding one button in 4.5 hours? Seriously? You need to find better places to detect or find another hobby.

Obviously dumbass it's not about scoring big all the time, it's about getting out and doing something relaxing, yes relaxing. My brother and I spent two days detecting an old church grounds from 1910 here in Peoria Arizona and eventually he scored a buffalo nickel at one corner and at the far opposite corner I scored a Mercury dime. Nothing big right? Except when you consider that that property must have be hunted by 150 other detectorists over the years. Score!!

Hey couch potato- it's not about finding something valuable all the time it's about getting out there and relaxing, yes relaxing. My brother and I once spent an entire day at an old church grounds here in Peoria Arizona and he eventually scored a buffalo nickel in one corner and I scored a Mercury Dime in the opposite corner. Nothing big right? Until you consider that this 110 year old property must have been searched 150 different times by other detectorists. Score!! I can tell you that you sitting on your couch is going to find nothing at the bottom of your bag of potato chips!
