In my opinion, if the card was officially released during the time, then it is included in the format. So, if it can be proven that these bundles came out when the original 3 sets were released, it's a part of the format.
Inb4 "muh Exarion": Exarion was only made available during GOAT due to a mistake made by a retailer and was never intended by Konami/Upper Deck to be officially released during that time. Exarion was not meant to be released in Goat's time period. Whereas Metalmorph and Acid Trap Hole were officially released in March 2002.
From what i can find on the Wayback Machine from Pojo, it seems like the DDS-cards were legal in the 2002 Yugi-Kaiba format, but Forbidden Memories weren't.

My locals way back then didn't permit these cards as the legality of promotional cards was ambiguous at the time (especially given the foiling they used). Then again, that predates amy official locals/prize support so that doesn't hold much weight. Still, it's an interesting and complex issue.

Tbh, I think the promo sets are legit if it can be proven they officially came out before Metal Raiders. I agree with Yuginono that Metalmorph and ATH make YK Format more fun, but if we can get a concrete answer, that would be for the best.

I've had my fingers crossed for yugi kaiba format content
I'm pretty sure the DDS cards came out at least before Summer 2002. That was the Summer I first got into Yugioh, maybe a couple of weeks before MRD was released. The only reason I got DDS was because my friend showed me his Seiyaryu card, which I thought looked so cool (especially because it was a different type of holo I'd never seen) that I had to have one. We also played Forbidden Memories a lot that Summer, but I don't really remember using Metalmorph or REBMD until later that Fall 🤔
Edit: Just found your second video and I'm glad that at least my memory lines up with reality haha. Good to know none of the promo cards were legal until December anyway due to them being distributed by Konami instead of Upper Deck. And with the DDS cards being released in early June that means my friend and I had some very good timing with our purchases of the game 😂

Firstly, I think that if the cards were *officially released before Metal Raiders' release, then they are apart of YK Format, unlike Exarion in GOATs since that was sold before its street date to a mistake on the part of some retailers.
Secondly, I remember getting DDS way back when. I was only 8 years old at the time, but I remember getting Seyraruryuyuyuyu, Salamandra and Acid Trap Hole in the box. As for the time of year...I can't tell you exactly, just remember the weather being cloudy and rainy...sorry, but I was only a kid at the time, so my memory isn't crystal clear. My neighbor had Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon from Forbidden Memories around the same time, and said he got it from his step brother; I remember this clearly because I thought the card looked awesome and wanted it, but he wouldn't trade me.
Thirdly, and lastly, I agree with you in that Metalmorph and Acid Trap Hole make YK Format much more fun and engaging than without. I personally, would love to be able to use them in the format when playing with my friends. I saw Goat Format comment that they would be looking into DDS and FMs releases and if the cards came out upon the games' initial release. I'm hopeful you, Seto Kaiba and Goat Format can get to the bottom of this.
TL;DR, Metalmorph and Acid Trap Hole are great and improve the format, I remember them from back in the day, and I think they should be included if they officially came out back before Metal Raiders.
Getting a definitive answer on this issue will be for the best, regardless of outcome though.

I remember winning the Kids WB contest for the Dark Duel Stories Gameboy color, which had blue eyes, dark magician, exodia. i even received a summon skull a few weeks after from kids WB. still wish i had them but time did not do those old cards any favors.
I did some research and the game release date was in fact March 2002. But I believe allot of places didn't let the promos be used in their tourneys
Im not gonna lie when i saw the title i thought this was about some special format that uses the dark duelstories rules where any fire monster can kill any "forest

Mr. YugiJesus - I'd recommend checking out the OCG Series 1 format. It's basically our 02 format with some extra spice!
I could be wrong but I could’ve sworn it was March. I wanted it as a kid for my birthday in April one year and while I didn’t get the bundle version, my friend got his hands on seiryuu in English (traded the other two) shortly ahead of me.
Tbh I'd like for someone, really any yugi-tuber but more so Yugi Jesus, BladeYGO, or Mega Capitol G because I like their story telling, to go through all of the TCG formats. Learning the history of yugioh and what caused some of the most interesting hits on the F and L list.
to me it would seem that the FM promos are not legal, because the original march release of the game did not come with promos at all.
the promos were for later, premium editions of the game, released in november.
the DDS promos are fair game though in my opinion

The DDS promos for the initial print run of the game were blue eyes, DM and Exodia DDS-001 - DDS-003. The initial print run was small which is why these promos are exceedingly rare. A subsequent print run to demand updated to the second set of promos DDS-004 - DDS-006.

I remember both sets when I was younger but could never find the blue eyes darn magician and exodia one, i also remember both forbidden memories and dark dull stories being out at the same time cause i could only get one on the release date
I remember getting DDS and the 3 promos including acid trap hole, in summer of 2002.

Thirt one is Pinguin soldier. And last one is the Stern Mystic. If u dont now them them read them in my oppinian they are good in goats
Wall and Peten are very underrated for sure. Peten even triggers when sent from hand. Stern Mystic is interesting in goats AND 02 lol it just gives knowledge.
What deck do you run peten in? And stern seems hard to play and make worth, how do you utilize him?

I own Forbidden Memories, got it as a birthday present way back in 2002, the game did NOT come with any promo cards.
Can't speak about Dark Duel Stories as I never owned a Gameboy Color, nor did I know anyone that bought it.

@@yuginono I was living in Latin America at the time, but I believe the game releases over there were the same as the U.S.
@@KaoruMzk latin America has the same region Format NTSC, your game was probably from the US.
I bought an NTSC forbidden memories a few years ago and it has the normal cover without the cards.
