I nearly choked when I first saw the "challenging wank" comment. Sean Locke is amazing
@Gaj He said challenging not impossible
Meh I've seen it all over youtube for years lol
One of his best..!
Sean's ninja talent is those utterly random lines.
That was worth more than a meh
What did you choke on
Never imagined id spend my Monday evening watching people watch other people do maths
@Eric Burkheimer America only needs one math to get it done right
Attempt maths
Imaging people watching normal countdown
Sean Locke recounting his proudest moments is beyond hilarious.
I cry with laughter every time and I've seen it numerous times
Can't believe it, RIP Sean
On 'Countdown', you have 30 seconds to solve to puzzle, regardless of if it's the numbers round, letters round or conundrum.
You may enjoy watching the real Countdown as some of the answers from contestants are impressive; '8 out of 10 Cats do Countdown 9' was originally billed as a one off/limited "mash-up" for charity but because it received great reviews and ratings, it has just continued ever since and had become a weekly regular on TV.
Also, Rachel Riley is incredibly smart so you should watch a compilation of her best bits. I say best bits because she is also funny so a mix of her problem solving and humour would be great!
Rachel Reilly would normal have the number exercises done in about 10 seconds. She's a genius.
and on the rare chance she doesnt she has a mic in her ear to tell her the answer on normal countdown
You can do it too, just remember some number tricks. If she were really a genius, shed be a math professor. You really have to know your way around the various results in number theory and how you can combine that with Euler's lemma.
@@summushieremiasclarkson4700 No, genius doesn't mean you have to become a professor. She's still a math genius, doesn't matter what methods or techniques she employs.
@@OneAndOnlyMe My dude, mathematics is very different from mastering arithmetic combinatorics. There are so many resources and books, on numerical combinations, that allow you to quickly reduce a problem by splitting it into likelihood estimates of factors and so on. It's like a rubics cube expert, they just really mastered the algorithm. Real math geniuses are working on pure/abstract problems that require them to reason their way across complex fields and axiomatic/theorematic problems.
@@summushieremiasclarkson4700 Yes I know the difference. Many people use "math" in a general sense. I'm sure you know this but you're being pedantic.
Diago Maradona is considered one of the top football players ever. But he cheated England in the world cup.
And I assume the setting the sprinklers of joke was a reference to his chain smoking I guess.
It didn't really matter who he was, just the idea that someone had a bum hole so shocking that exposing it caused the sprinklers to go off.
@@TerranigmaQuintet nope.. But keep trying 😎
Alan Lee Diego Maradona is considered one of the top football players ever. AND he cheated England in the World Cup. Not “but”, “AND”.
😏
Yes, he did! By being too good...
Sean Locke is very dry witty type. You need to listen to his storys called The Tiger who went for a Pint. Nan Thats what i call music and The Spider story. The way his brain works is crazy sometimes
"To the zoo, you silly bollocks!"
@@RenaissanceEarCandy its the tiger who went for a pint, not the zoo
@@billford5553 No, I know that's what it's called, I was quoting a line from it. When the barman asked the tiger where he wanted the minicab to take him, that was his reply.
@@RenaissanceEarCandy haha yeah thats right 🐯👍
The Tiger Who Came For A Pint is my favorite Sean Lock story!
This is like watching a dogs face when you talk to it. The dog knows something is going on, but it's too slow to comprehend.
Stop watching British comedy. It's clearly not for you.
@@mwaoh8726 no big react channels get people to pay to see the content they want to see. they should just go off the comments like FBE do. theyd build more subscribers and then earn more money
@@mwaoh8726 They could. Decent reaction channels actually watch stuff they're interested in and stuff they know about. Not just random shit because someone gave them money.
@ jim jimjim They seem to enjoy it but you don't seem to like watching them watching it. Says something, more, about you. Don't ya reckon? Maybe take your own advice & stop watching their videos.
nagastrac
Oh, don't worry, I have. They're shit.
You enjoy watching talentless people watching talented people. Why not just cut out the middleman and just watch the original videos?
Comedy is a lot funnier without it getting paused and being told someone doesn't understand a joke.
These two hacks have no content. It's just repeats of pre-existing stuff under the guise of 'reaction video'. Most of the time they sit there in silence looking bored too LOL. Providing nothing original, ever
Tell me 1 good thing about their videos.
I'd prefer them watching this than some US wank. Better they try and get it and fail than watch shit comedy and think it's hilarious.
You guys should know that the amazing Sean Lock has now passed away 💔
Watching this couple makes me thankful im single.
Diego Maradona is a very famous Argentinian footballer. (Soccer player in the US)
Rachel Riley is a mathematician (but because of some of the solutions she comes up with in 30 seconds I'd rather call her a mathemagician) so if she can't get the solution, it means it's a really difficult one. They can use as many of the numbers as they like, they don't have to use all of them, but they aren't allowed fractions so they can't divide 5 by 2 or 7 by 3 for example.
Sean Lock on 8 out of ten cats is best comedian in the world!!
Rachel Riley is a maths genius, like Carol Vorderman who preceded her in the job. They do have to work it out live, which the point of the name Countdown, and it's very rare that Rachel Riley doesn't have it worked out on the spot. Diego Maradona is an Argentinian footballer who famously cheated in a World Cup match against the England team, touching the ball with his hand, which the referee somehow didn't see. He's also famously had a cocaine addiction, and prone to various bizarre and emotional behaviour, so he makes a good character for imaginary comedy anecdotes like this.
Has to be an Englishman to describe the greatest player of all time in such a manner. All you need to say is: Diego *Maradona* is the greatest football player of all time.
@@gart9680 Keep telling yourself that and whilst you're at it tell me how Patricks description of the alcoholic, drug taking cheat was incorrect?
He did famously cheat against England in the world cup.
Don't do that if you're the so called *greatest of all time*
yesi agree he was a cheat but look at his 2nd goa lworld class
We live on the moon, and the 'moon' is the real Earth.
@@gart9680 Personally, I put Pele ahead of him. He was damned amazing though.
RIP Sean Lock
Rest in peace Sean Lock
Don’t know Diego Maradona ... Jesus Christ !!
In just 3 words, I can explain this and make you understand. "They are American."
i know. its painful. stay strong.
I've been to a recording of 8 out of 10 cats does countdown in Manchester.
Its as you see you, little editing, the show is recorded for 1 hr and the show is 45 mins on TV
I believe that they knock out up to 5 a day. That way they can shoot a whole season in a week and then get back to their regular jobs.
It's not about using as many of the numbers as you can. Rather it's using the numbers you need to get the right answer. Also you can only use each number once during the calculation.
I saw Jimmy on this other game show he hosts, and the panel kept giving him a hard time about looking like a robot, and once he was referred to as a puppet, leading up to Noal(a goth panel member)saying, "I want a blowy from the puppet",as Noal was wearing a big, comical mascot type head ,adorned in colorful buttons, with a matching shirt-while poking fun at Jimmy. Funny bit, gotta love them Brits.😃👍🇬🇧💓
The Big Fat Quiz of Year i believe you watched there my good man two bloody hours long that show is
@@Lucifer11. There are plenty of bits on plenty of shows where Jimmy's similarity to a dummy is, to put it politely, commented on!
"no i want a blowie off the puppet! and the whole time i'll be wearing this" (noel pulls down the button man headgear)
Watching these guys do maths is a real treat
Rest In Peace Sean ✝️
5:32 Have you seen original UK Whose Line where nothing was rehearsed? You really should...
RIP Sean!
“Character” does he think it’s a scripted show with actors or something
Sean lock had his own sitcom called 15 stories. And the Australian version is called "letters and numbers.
One of my favourite TV shows ever, I love our when it's on, plus this video doesn't even show it at its funniest 🤣🤣🤣 I love channel 4 shows, they aren't afraid to push the limits
Don’t know what to say or understand anything that’s happening ??
Just reply with - “ Dayuuum “
When you're doing a numbers game, the trick is to add a small number to the big ones before multiplying. Like how Rachel added 3 to 450 before multiplying by 2. It helps you get closer to the target instead of adding/subtracting all the small numbers at the end.
RIP Sean
🙏 RIP 🙏
I always have to pause the show to solve the puzzles too!
You have 30 seconds to do it! It's actually pretty fun to try and get it along with the clock.
Rest in peace saun lock
Glad to see reactions to this stuff. Love the British shows, even though you have to watch a lot of them to pick up more of the references.
I have been to a live taping of this show, they really do the sums and things in the time limit, that part is not edited, only the comedy bits inbetween to cut it shorter for airing, it airs a while after its filmed, thought you might like to know, it's filmed in Manchester, media city xx
8/10 Cats does Countdown. One of the funniest shows on UK TV. Sean Lock is just wonderful.
as I live in England I watch countdown every day to every few days you don't need to use all the numbers.
I do the same thing. First I watch the numbers and them react, then I pause it and try to get the number myself and see how close I can get. Then i'll see them finish.
Countdown is the original prog this is based on. It was the very first program shown on channel 4 in the UK back in 1981 when the channel was launched. Its been on our screens ever since.
Most people say thay hate it. But most people within 3 minutes of it being on are playing along at home. 😂
Came to watch video. Spent whole time staring at adorable sleepy cat instead :D
Haha!! Happens to the best of us ^_^
It is live obviously. You have 30 seconds to try and get the answer which isn't always possible. Even in a show like 8/10 cats that part is not scripted.
So sad he just died R. I. P.
People should really know that the gorgeous blonde that picks the letters and the numbers is actually more then just a stunning looking girl. Rachel Riley is a certified genius with Degrees in Applied Mathematics, Fluid Mechanics and Quantum Theory from Oxford.
Goes to show you should never judge a book just by the cover :)
awesome, love you both
Racheal Riley is a cambridge educated mathematician she is insanely good with math problems
Oxford.
Her predecessor, Carol Vorderman, is a Cambridge woman.
maths
@@MookFarchings nope math. I'm British and I just don't like the way maths sounds but I agree the correct way is with the s at the end lol I must just be watching to much American shit
You are both hooked. Lol! I often pause to work it out.
The only place in the world not to know who maradonna is is North America, South Americans certainly do, Africans do, Europeans do, people in Asia do so also.
Americans are so self obsessed with their own sports
Mexico is North America, they definitely know Diego there.
English people definitely know who Maradona is! 🖐
Paul Keywood Ah yes we know well about his handy tactics
Even here in Australia where football (soccer) is our 3rd sport, everybody still knows him, unless you are under 20 perhaps
@@alexwarner6111 I can attest to that. I have lived in Australia for well over a decade and the country is a very different western country compared to America, I would say it's a western country made up of many eastern countries, european and some south American while still keeping those countries values and history which are incorporated into Australia general society allowing a much larger spectrum of global knowledge to be shared.
@6:31 i know what's coming... probably Sean Lock's best line ever!!!! I'm crying with anticipation!
The maths game works as follows: you can use each number only once but you can multiply, devide, plus or minus any way you want and you will have to get the number on the top. you dont have to use all of the numbers but you cant use any of them twice even if you dont use some other number. you have 30 sec. time to solve it. 10 points if you get it, 7 points if you are 1-5 away and 5 points if you are 6-10 away.
I love how you both played the game, it would be awesome if you guys did some research and finished of the video explaining your reactions to the bits you learnt
In the maths part, you don't have to use all the numbers, but you can only use each number once. I'm not certain, but I think you can only use basic operators (multiply, divide, addition, and subtraction). I say that 'cause I've never seen someone use powers or roots.
G H Yep that's right.
The "secret trick" to the numbers game is to learn your 75 times table really well
This is a spoof of the true program “count down”!
The true program is recorded, and not a comedy.
Both are good programs and some contestants can do the problems in under 30 seconds!
Ps... I like the cat!
The sprinklers going off was because the hot air that came out of the arse when bending over would trigger fire safety.
The numbers,
- You can use all the numbers and +, -, x and divide
- You can only use each number once from the 6 tiles.
You have to come to the total target that is given.
A couple of clarifications. You can also divide only as long as you get an integer value. And you don't have to use all of the tiles.
9:43 - Ashtyn, it's all just practice, and given how you light up, it seems you enjoy and want to learn.
So give it a crack 🙂
Alot of people on that show start off all crap, but then they get into it, and they get good at the Maths, enjoying it they get more and more encouraged, and over time, not much mind, some get to kicking butt at it.
Plenty of online resources.
Really, give it a go, I've not seen people make that kind of face since school & uni, in Maths class!
you can only add, minus, multiply or very unusually divide...the numbers are picked from a table the contestant gets to choose from... there ARE some possible tables that are regarded as impossible to solve, hence you will never see "5 from the top please"
i got it once when the people on show didn't in real time i felt like Einstein lol
Every time Sean lock speaks am in kinks
I love how you stopped to try to work it out :)!
Sean Lock’s greatest achievement is one of the greatest bits of comedy ever...
This entire show is a parody of a real show where very smart people actually compete.
Rachel Riley, besides her looks, really has a math degree and is usually able to solve them all within 30 seconds.
Watching you guys do math made me consider donating.
The numbers aren't always possible, the target number and the selection they have to work it out are random
You should watch the full episodes for sure
Within a couple of minutes? There is a giant clock behind them that counts back from 30...they have 30 seconds to do the maths and letters
First time watching you watch this, much better then the other videos with you. You are a pretty cute couple with a chilled out kitty cat. Anyone going on at Ashtyn stop!
You know countdown is a serious quiz show on it's own, and 8/10 cats is a comedy show all on it's own, they r channel 4 shows, and someone came up with the idea of putting them together, and it works really good
Mine is Jimmy Carr. I think he is hilarious. Seen him live 4 times, going to see him again in July 😁
I've been to a taping, and the time they get on video to solve the problem is the time they get live.
The numbers, you don't need to use as many as you can. You just need to do any math at all on them, to make any or all of the starting numbers into the number that's up on the board. I think you can only use a number once, but I'm not sure, I just watch highlights. :p
I think together as a group there all funny!
Just so you know, for the number rounds there isn't always a solution. The numbers are all randomly picked and you just have to get as close as possible to the number (the closer you are, the more points you get).
Countdown is live with an audience
I'm a Kiwi Pakeha , A white native, I grew up in the 70's and 80s in New Zealand , Check out our best NZ comedian Billy T James check out home improvements
You can use some or all the numbers to get to the target figure.
sean is easily the best
I'd love to see you react to the full episode and see if you can solve the games
Jimmy Carr did a roast in the USA he was great
MOLE yeah of rob lowe, it’s savage af!! Check it out for sure
You can make multiple sums to get there. Using the numbers provided.
ah shame you didn't get that last bit by sean, it was hilarious!
2:11 - naw, so cute that smile for eachother and the nostalgia.
Fair bit of a shame that that needs a disclaimer...
I try to do the numbers in my head, I don't where to start most of the time, the majority of they mainly add or subtract two small time.
i do too. I always start by trying to get to the nearest 100 of the target eg if the target is 666 then I start by trying to get to 600 or 700 then I play around. i'm sh*t at the word rounds but I love the number rounds.
It is Count Down
There is a giant clock behind them
It counts down 30 seconds
they don't have a couple of minutes
Here's a tip for the numbers: don't try to randomly add up to the number. Either try to use the available numbers to reduce the number down to zero (which means reversing it is the solution), or else take the first two numbers (in the case of 9:20, it would be 96) and try to create a number as close to that as possible that you can then multiply by 10 (meaning you need to first create 10 to do so, so in this case 5x2). That will usually get you pretty close.
I usually try to figure a way to divide the first two digits by ten, or else divide the whole number by 2 or 3 (even or odd). It's like a shortcut since there's almost always both an even and an odd small number available off the start.
5:20 the sum is 5 x 100 is 500. 75+8 is 83. 50/25 is 2. 83x2 is 166 and add the 500 for 666
There is two shows the original was called Countdown and has been on for about 30 years and this is called 8 out of 10 cats it’s the late night comedy adult version of countdown the daytime one is serious with a different host.
the clock behind them ticks for 30 seconds each time for the maths and 30 for the letters.sean was really ill here, you wouldnt believe it.r.i.p.sean.
Sean says what he wants. Great comedian.
I'm glad these beautiful people are bad at maths. This is balance.
If you learn the 75 times table up to ten, the numbers round becomes a lot easier. (if a 75 comes up, that is).
Live recordings. Whole segments are filmed then edited together.
Watch: Jimmy Carr on "Was It Something I Said?" from 2013 (A game show episode featuring: Jimmy Carr, Richard Ayoade, Micky Flanagan, Charlie Higson, David Harewood, David Mitchell).
I don't think the joke is hard to follow tbh. but Diego Maradonna is a famous footballer, he gained a shit load of weight once he retired. The whole joke revolves around Sean being given "Rectum of the year" rather than "Rear of the year". Obviously, rectum being what you'd see if you bent over. Maradonna's rectum would be so bad the sprinkers would go off.
Also the amount of time they have to work out the maths or the letters is only 30 seconds.
12:53 the time i went seal Clubbing
