brad, im sorry.... you'll never be the 22nd pilot. give it up brad

Honestly I prefer when brad reviews an album without chat. The chat tries so hard.
I wholeheartedly agree with this for any music reactor. Chat can be very distracting and sidetracks the reactor too much.
seriously
Not even bro, if he was truly authentic about how the quality of the music he’s listening to sounded with his audience than he wouldn’t be trying to negatively review the album based off chat spamming Ls. He even said it himself that chat was inclining his judgement because you can tell he was ticked off. The chat doesn’t try to hard, Brad tries to hard.

Calling this a sequel to Blurryface was uncalled for, Brad.
It's spot-on, but still.

Blurryface but with no religion or radio references
Blurryface is my favorite album so I actually like that about it. I’ve been listening since Vessel for reference
HAHAHAHHA fr
Blurryface if it didn’t age like milk
the fact that it literally says "Welcome back to Trench" at the beginning certainly didn't help the project at all lol
Edit: y'all, whether or not they specifically meant simply the "place" rather than their prior album, it doesn't change my opinion of the album as a whole. I'm not thinking of that *singular* line 5-6 songs in. Just found it a little odd, considering they *had* to know that a good amount of listeners would interpret that line in both ways.
Yeah haha it literally sells the vibe that it’s the direct continuation of Trench and the rest of it was just misleading, re listening to it on its own as its own thing I think it’s good, not bad but the advertisement of being something and then not being it does bring some mixed feelings cause of that and leads it to not being well received by others too which I honestly don it blame
Yeah I don't really get that. This album was its own thing, and it excelled at that.
Eh, that’s honestly just nit picking.
Just feels like them blatantly going "oh they really liked this one, let's just tell them this is somehow related to it and they'll eat it up"

its weird that everyone's hating on bradley for hating a tøp album, when he negatively reacted to pretty much all of their discography everyone was cool and thought it was funny, what changed?
Personally for me this just feels sorta lazy in a way? I think doing it on stream wasn't the best idea, but in general just seemed like because it wasn't dark like trench that he immediately dismissed the album.
@@Milkyway101 I agree I liked brad in the first place because even if he hated my most beloved album I still laugh from the funny and unhinged edits now the edits gone because he does the reactions live
@@Milkyway101it was literally marketed as Trench part 2, though, so I don't think it's unfair to be unimpressed and disappointed when the album we got was not that.
Maybe it's because it just felt he really wasnt giving those songs a proper first listen before critiquing them? Talking over, mocking them midway, getting angrier and angrier. Either way he didnt like it in the end after multiple listens and thats fine.
This album is better than Scaled and Icy, Blurryface, and Vessel. That's what has changed.
We have a momentous occasion everyone. Brad after loving Trench has just returned as a Twenty One Pilots Critiquer again with the double streak. What a legend.
Edit: in response to Brad’s recent community post blacklisting TOP, What I meant was a goofy joke. I’m not a twenty pilots fan nor am I a troll. I just made a dumb ironic joke with no harmful intentions.
sad that you even have to apologize for a joke, both from the perspective of brad and the people behind his channel can't take the criticism to the point where they have to blacklist it and where the stans got insufferable about it. Don't get me wrong I think the stans are out of line but also when you put a music review out there's always going to be backlash from the following the artist has, if you can't handle it then you really shouldn't be making public reviews on music?

A lot of people are saying this and I agree completely. I was expecting the griminess of trench, but it seems like blurryface through the scaled and icy production style, and then some odd trench here and there.
This is why reviewing albums live with chat is a bad idea. Just review the music instead of letting chat piss you off.

Pretty much yeah I found his channel in late 2018, Gorillaz The Now Now reaction was my first video. Eventually I started getting into the TØP content not long after.
31:45 That guy is speaking facts tho. Speaking as someone who has been following Brad since the original Blurryface reactions, I really do think the live reactions impact his enjoyment on some level. Even though Editing-Brad felt a lot more level-headed than Reaction-Brad, an initial reaction fueled by an annoyance at chat isn't going to just disappear over the course of 12 hours. I would have much preferred if he listened to this without an audience
🙂↕️
There's no money in a level-headed off-camera evaluation anymore. Brad's quality as a reviewer started to nosedive as soon as he switched to this stream-based format, and although the entertainment value has skyrocketed, I pretty much no longer come to him for reputable music takes untainted by the whims of a live audience (except maybe his year end lists where he's had time to sit with the albums.) This culture of being reactionary above all else is really harmful towards having and exercising media literacy.
(p.s. I don't really mess with this album that much either, I think it's just okay, I'm commenting on the greater issue instead of trying to defend 21P or anything)
@@sammieslaterjr.8982 I get what you're saying, but I personally still think Brad is a pretty good reviewer when he and the chat are both excited for the music they are listening to. Hell, it's even fun sometimes when it's a particularly bad project and both of them are fueling the memes. But when you go into a group as critically divisive as twenty one pilots are, the negativity in the chat is going to stick out more, and they're going to fuel one another. I don't think Brad is greedy or a complete drone to his chat, but I do think he should pick his battles better when it comes to reacting live and pre-recording, because I would have respected this reaction a lot more if he was focused on the music rather than joking with the chat for the entire second half of the album
@@plaintive8953 I didn't mean to imply that he was being greedy, he's doing this for a living and you gotta do what you gotta do for better or worse. I'm not a fan of the format, but I respect his efforts.

“Blurryface 2” is such a good way of describing this album’s sound and I’m loving it

@@pk251blurry face was great

Scaled and clancy
I can't even imagine what that means
bro MIGHT be blurryface
I can’t believe no one notices this album is a timeloop. If you have this album loop. Right after the hello Clancy it rolls straight into Overcompensate in a nearly seamless transition. Sort of like a 1984 esque, “you thought you escaped, but really you played right into my trap” style thing.
Woah… you are so right
L O R E
That’s bullshit lmao, just because the ending is silent does not mean it perfectly loops. Nonagon Infinity loops, this album doesn’t.
I don't agree, there's no real indication that the album loops beyond a sudden end silence and I don't think Overcompensate would make a great deal of sense as a continuation of what we get at the end of Paladin Strait.
What's more noteworthy is that the "So few, so proud, so emotional" echoes "the few, the proud and the emotional" from Fairly Local, the first single of the Blurryface album cycle. In that sense it is absolutely a loop - Clancy has in some way fallen into Nico's trap in an attempt to put an end to this.
lol what? That would work with any song. Definitely not a loop
I liked it! Tyler joseph finally learned how to rap in a way that doesn’t sound like he’s frantically trying to cram as many words into a sentence as possible and it really improved the 21 pilots experience for me
i understand your point about not liking a serious topic on top of a upbeat song, but i think it matches perfectly, because it is not a sad song, its an encouraging song, to reach out to your friends, to make sure they are safe, it perfectly matches the message in my opinion
After the singles, Brad took the goofy part of the album too seriously, and then when the serious songs came in he stopped caring.
Yep pretty much. Seems like Brad turned his brain off because there is plenty of similarities between the sound of this album and Trench and he's acting disgusted and insulted for some reason lmao
@@jackboller124Nsh this album isn't nearly as well crafted as Trench. They may have sonic similarities but the tonal consistency just isn't there and the balance of lore and actual music just isn't there

I thought some songs were good but it felt kinda underwhelming to me and the chat spamming “L” and otherwise being weird throughout the stream just made me think you should turn off chat for album reactions in the future. It’s just not worth it.

too late bradley i already formed an opinion on this album, better luck next time!
Backslide is, in the lore DEMA related, but as a believer in Christ its the feeling of holding out and not wanting to fall back to sinful ways. Honestly most of these songs makes many Christian points its awesome. I can see why if someone doesn't relate to not like the song but the poetry for me is incredible.
It’s not just a specific Christian thing, backsliding is a universal concept for people falling back into their old ways
@@christopherlyndsay8611 Backsliding (Backslider) was coined Biblically Proverbs 14:14 (It being written however means it was most likely used beforehand, but nevertheless is very popular in the Christian Community). Today it's now used everywhere, but the obvious nods to him picking up bread, and not wanting to backslide, realizing he lost and going back for more is the word of God. Take a seat with the crease in it, Luke 8:11. Sinking under water and it going over his head, Peter sinking in the storm and "reaching out" (throw me one more line) to Jesus and then coming back to security. Yes, I probably shouldn't have just written a paragraph but this song (in my non professional opinion) had God written all over it. However it relates to you is subjective, and if you made it this far thanks for listening to my TED talk.

Honestly, after going through the tracks and the videos, and especially after their livestream, it feels like they actively tried to mislead us. The trailer said the story would conclude here, but then Tyler said something like, “Does it sound like it's over?” in an interview a few days ago. The visuals and lyrics clearly have other priorities besides the Dema universe, too.
I think we're gonna get a lot more clarity on what their true plan is when the video for Paladin Strait comes out.

I honestly enjoyed this album. Sure I don't listen to much music nor do I have high expectations, but I still found it pleasant to listen to regardless.
