@@floaters56 I wonder why you won't say the same of University professors who speak so authoritatively on subjects they spent their lives studying. Many people who argue points like this are usually oblivious to the fact that many of the foremost speakers on matters of Christian doctrine spend time studying the subject in Theology schools.
Like I said, the topic of discussion is clearly out of the intellectual grasp of some people who take it upon themselves to discuss Christian doctrine without having proper/conventional knowledge on the subject. It's really appalling!

People didn't listen very well or not understand what he really said in his statement. He literally took back what he said and demanded for more percentage. "He was wrong and at the same time right" according to him..... His light does not travel in a straight line.😂
The last caller the pastor didnt complete his claim that tithes can be converted to money. Here is the summary. Deut 14:22 - tithes are paid annually (unlike today where it is monthly). Deut 14:23 - eat your tithes (Yes, you eat it, not given to anyone). Deut 14:24 - if your place of worship is too far (exchange it for money). Deut 14:25 - go to place where God choose for you. Deut 14:26 spend your tithes as you want in fact you can use it to buy drink i e. wine (alcohol), and eat before the Lord your God with your household (family).
Pastor Julius should say the truth. Today, we read our bibles and we know what God is saying.

Hebrews 12:14 “ without holiness no man shall see the Lord” Holiness is Obedience, meaning if you don’t obey the word of God to pay tithes, you have disobeyed GOD, which means you are not holy and without holiness you cannot see God. Baba apologized for his own life but we need to look into the scripture in Hebrews 12:14 to see the requirement to heaven.
Holiness = seeing God, which is heaven, Holiness is Obedience, refusal to pay tithe = disobedience. Disobedience = not seeing God which is no heaven. Baba Is right, no tithe no heaven. Ask God for grace.

He's not turning any bible but digging deep to expatiate it,the payment of tithe in the scripture is a clear injuction to God's people at any given period, whether in the old or new testament, so not doing this is disobedience to God,now to make heaven requires one to live in holiness and righteousness according the the bible,the big question will now be,can a disobedient fellow be regarded as a righteous & holy one? So, in light of the above explanation,i personally do not agree with Papa Adeboye on this. Of course, some people may not agree with the above submission, which perhaps may not accept that the act of not paying tithe is considered to be disobedience,even Jesus Christ himself didn't play down the issue of tight payment in Matthew 23 vs 23, when he was rebuking the Jews leaders of their hypocrisy.

In the book of 1 Corinthians, Apostle Paul said “follow me as I follow Christ”. This is apostle Paul keeping himself accountable, meaning his followership isn’t unconditional. His followers only follow him as he follows Christ. As a leader, there is such a huge mantle on you so you can’t just say things as they come in it head because they sound good or right to you. This is what frustrates many Christians in Nigeria towards the leaders. Most of these people challenging the things our leaders do aren’t trying to rebel against God but want accountability. YES, church leaders need to be accountable but our big pastors don’t want to hear you challenge anything they do. This is frustrating. The house of God is not a cult. It’s a place to meet and grow in Christ, the center of our salvation. Any other message that isn’t centered on the person of Christ needs to be carefully digested. We have really dangerous people on pulpits all across the nation and you cannot expect the people to just keep quiet and follow everything these men say. God help us.
The way many preachers use the fear tactic on the people is getting exposed and the country is on the right track. The Bible never said just follow everything the leaders do. It says honor the leaders but never says leaders can’t be held accountable, rather he holds leaders at a higher standard.

Pst Adeboye did not force anyone to pay tithe. The problem we have is that we are too busy to read the bible. As a christian, going to hell for not paying is not true and no one can deceive me with that. I follow the bible and not the pastor.
If you're a worker in RCCG, tithe isn't by choice as long as you're a working adult. In fact, you also pay tithes on gifts, and even allowance as a student. That is the doctrine of the church. It is wrong to say you are not forced. It is compulsory hence it is by force. And if you can't do it, you will be advised to be a regular church member. Before you argue that, every worker and even members have tithes cards which show your monthly tithe payment.

What pastor Adeboye did isn't restitution. The act of restitution comes with physically paying back or making amends to what has been falsely taken. He's just made an apology to his followers and also to educate them more on the subject. God bless Nigeria, God bless Africa.

Those Pastors will make some managerial adjustment to get money from the church members if you discourage tithes. The adjustment might lead to full commercialization of churches that will hurt the poor.

You can't be right and wrong at the same time. This alone is false doctrine. The only purpose of tithe is to eliminate poverty. I will be willing to pay 100% tithe if schools, hospitals, food etc are given to the poor for free. People in Saudi, Singapore even China etc don't pay tithes yet most things are affordable by their citizens. Just imagine 4 Mega pastors in Nigeria build farmlands or refineries instead of buying private jets, mansions and rolls Royce. Food and oil will be affordable by majority of Nigerians and don't need to depend fully on the Government. If members pay 20, 30 percent. It is expected that pastors pay 70- 90 percent back to people development and 10 percent back to church development

Restitution is not the same as giving an apology. Restitution in this situation would be paying back everyone who gave money thinking they're going to hell.
It's part of it,it's not only to return stolen money or items,if you have wronged someone too, you can go to him and say you are sorry
Giving of tithes is a command by God to His people. Any born-again Christian who doesn't bring tithes of his earnings to the House of God, is disobeying God's command, and no disobedient person will enter Heaven. So, if pastor Adeboye preached that non-tithe payers will not go to Heaven, he's actually right. I don't know why he had to apologize for that.

Will Redeem Church and in particular the GO return all the traceable tithes to the people who have wrongly paid it on instruction / interpretation from these pastors and their teachings. The woman I lived with, got a loan of 3.5m and gave tithe of 350t. without my consent and it caused problem when I told her it was wrong......we saw shege repaying the debt 😢.

I wish I could meet you in person to explain the scriptures to you but will try within the limit of what could be typed. Now you made a seemingly valid point of Jesus affirming tithe by saying “ Yes you should tithe.” This is like in Matthew 8:4 after Jesus healed a man he told him to go show himself to the priest ( in a system which Jesus already criticized and explained he has come to upgrade). So why is Jesus doing this if he has come to fulfill the Laws? These are people that did not even believe in Jesus or he was sent of God. As a matter of fact the priesthood were planning Jesus’murder at that time. Jesus said Yes they should tithe at that moment in time because the testament still in place at that time was the old testament. That testament has covenant attached to carnal rituals that you either do or die if not done. Jesus has not established the New Testament or the covenant of grace and life, he has not died and Temple veil has not be ripped so he has no choice than to work with what was in existence at that time. Exactly what Christ has come to replace are those carnal rituals and punishment attached to them. He has come to keep and expand the law with exception of those dead rituals like tithing, killing bulls and animal, observing days etc
Now this, it is reason he told that man healed in Matt 8:4 to go show himself to priest and do what is in the law. The law at that time was still valid. Now, would Jesus say same thing after his death and resurrection, absolutely no. Same goes for arguments about tithing. That is why Tithe was not a topic post resurrection. The new testament officially started after Jesus death and resurrection so even Jesus comply with law pending when he starts the new testament. You cannot understand the Bible except by the help of the Holy Spirit. We can only trust that He explains the word to us.

Brother Paul further explained it to us saying “ the Lord simply loves a cheerful giver.” I can only pray that the Lord explains it to you. I supposed you should be killing bulls and animal for your sins or be stoning people after adultery if Jesus has not upgraded some part of the law like you are trying to argue here.
