You can not compare Western and Asian music! They are very different! I listened to a lot of different music, both Western classical and Chinese traditional, but ... BUT! No one Western musical instrument that could repeat the simultaneous "smoothness, lightness, viscosity, tenderness, sharpness" in sound, such instruments as Gutsin or Erhu! This video showed it well! Absolutely different cultures and styles of thinking!
It was such an exciting moment. It brought the story to a climax. It was just a fun and wonderful film. If only global politics could work in a similar fashion.

This is so fun. The original music battle inspired me to watch the film (which I adored) and this is a very fun new take on the battle with a different song. I feel like the western violins drown out the Chinese instruments too much in this (I could hardly hear the guzheng or the erhu except periodically), but the dizi and suona really shine. Thank you for sharing!
The previous one was much better in overall composition and cinematography, but this one shines in how it finally, actually plays like a goddamn Chinese movie. The scene is about traditional Chinese instruments vs Western instruments, but the previous one played a western classical music, the Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakov. The cincher instrument, Suona, was merely played as a winning move, did some bird sounds, and then moved forward with the music. The "traditional Chinese music" part was gone as a result. Here however, they integrated the "Summer" part of Four Seasons by Vivaldi as an orchestral backing to the distinctively Chinese melody played by the duet of that Dizi (I think, idk much about trad Chinese instruments) and Suona, and they became the prominent sound that eventually broke the Western team's concentration, and ended the whole symphony. Not with just a "jumpscare", metaphorically speaking, but an actual element to the music. Anyways, I still think the Suona can me matched with a Kazoo, but who would bring that to a classical music play, right?
Yeah, and I think their viewpoint of classical Western instruments is why they lose. They're viewing them as these great, classy items that are inherently better because they've been used for such great compositions, so they overlook a lot of Western instruments that don't fit that mold. Ok, may I say how this moved me so deeply it made me cry? Something about... This feeling of what they are fighting for, how this sounds so different and beautifully, and how they could show their value when everyone else told them the opposite, it warmed my heart. As someone from Latin America this resonates with me, because my country is very very mixed and yet it sometimes feels like we lost something, from our tradition, from our pre-colombian ancestors, so this makes me feel: both our sides are beautiful and valuable, and they deserve to be recognized equally.

Lol this is so very funny from an amateur's perspective. It's about how they are fighting for dominance but they are actually complementing each other so well.
wow i love that one and they are many student playing music that make the song an amazing. This the best song i see it in my life . I think they learn that in many years this is amazing me i can learn it . THAT AMAZING!
I like this music arrangement better. It is a test of a combination of improvising and ensemble-playing skill. Here's what I think is happening: The competition began with a coin toss. Since the Western ensemble won, they started the challenge in a Concerto format: where the ensemble moves between group-solo-group (repetitively) format. ua-cam.com/video/Ytw99mkVZ8I/v-deo.html. The solo parts are technically very challenging (esp on a violin). The Western ensemble were supposed to play the group (tutti) part while the Chinese ensemble attempt the solo parts (and hopefully screw up). The Er hu took the 1st solo part and unfortunately for the Western ensemble, she improvised a new tune instead and changed the character and speed of the original tune. The Western ensemble had to find a way to break back into group (tutti). But since they were not used to the new tune, the pianist quickly analysed the structure and successfully broke into their tutti section. Later, the Suona took over the solo part and forced the western instrumentalists to accompany much longer than they are comfortable to. Again, he changed the original tune's character and speed. The Western ensemble were forced into the repeated notes to keep the rhythm up their accompaniment role. Traditional Western ensemble/orchestra play a harmony when accompanying. And the harmony affects the structure. The Suona took the tune so far out till it crushed with the harmony of the Western ensemble. They were soon thrown into confusion and stopped. Since the traditional Chinese ensemble often play the same tune together, they simply did that and survived. Without leaving a gap for the Western ensemble to join, the Chinese ensemble suddenly jump back into the original version of the tutti part again very quickly and conclude the piece before the Western ensemble could react.
That's a very good interpretation. What actually happened was that both sides hate each other a lot mainly because the western music students look down on the folk music students. The folk music students are annoyed by it while the western music students don't want the folk music students to drag their reputation. They made a bet to settle the scores between both sides. Through the flip of a coin, they will decide which team will start. The battle is to challenge which side's music presence is stronger and which side can keep up. Western music team starts. The folk music is able to follow the western music and they start a somewhat tugbof war over the influence of their instruments. All is normal until the folk music team started to change the tune which startles the western music team, which we could clearly see their music influence decreasing. The leader of the western music team was able to find a pattern to retake control until the folk music team changed the tune again. The music slowly shifted from something that sounded Western to something that sounds more Chinese. They are able to avoid traps and didn't give a chance for the western music team to continue. It then lead to western music team's defeat. Basically, what you said is what somewhat happened in this scene. There is a reason why the western music team lost this battle. The folk music team did somewhat cheat, by already knowing what the other team is going to play. Though, they probably didn't have as much time as the western students who already practiced this music sheet for years, as stated by one of the western music student that it is their favorite music sheet. However, the folk music students are able to study both kinds of music to determine the strong and weak points, which the western music students didn't as they are overly confident about their musics. Through their studies, they can determine that the composition of western and folk music is very different : western music is semi-toned while the folk music is full-toned, making the possibility for the western music team being able to catch up and switch the tune easily and that folk music team won't be able to keep up unless they rehearse the same music sheet that the western music team uses. What is even more difficult is that the level of professionalism for each student is different. The instruments they play are made to most of the time, play in solo. The team will then have a hard time to unify the instruments' tune and composes one of the biggest problem they have, which they realized when they started rehearsing. Another problem they found was that the western music were made to have an echoeing system, which can easily crush the folk team's tune. They are able to cover all of those problems because of one of the strong point the folk music team has : improvisation. The western musicians mostly are seen with a conductor who leads the orchestra. The western music students weren't taught to make arrangements on their own. Because of such a structure, it is easy for them lose control of the tune of the structure is broken, more so when they are too used to following the directions of the conductor. Folk musicians use their instruments as a form of conversation, which is why they are able to keep up with the western team music with very little time of rehearsal as they basically only need to memorize and practice the sheet once
@@yukishiro3287 i dropped over to TwoSetViolin's The Remake of this Famous Musical Scene is Even Worse. I like them very much. But it seems like classical-trained musicians can play by their own rules only. I actually like the dissonance and counter-melody that the folk musicians introduce into the music. What's an echoing system? Is it call and imitate?
@@nutcrackers25 Echoeing system refers to how the instruments resonate very loudly. You could see the difference in material made by for each side's instruments. Because the classical instruments resonates better than traditional instruments, it's easy for the classical musicians to suppress the traditional's sounds
I think this one was better. First of all, the flight of the bumblebee is kinda overused and as fast as it is, it really is not THAT difficult because it's basically a modified scale. Second, the original version seemed more about fighting with each other's equivalent musical instruments while this version seems like a fight between the classical western music system vs the traditional/folk Chinese music system. The thing is a lot of the western orchestral system is, for lack of a better word, very systemized to the extent that sometimes they cannot seem to play a piece without strictly following the rules (speaking of which, this is less of a problem in even western folk music...or SIKE JAZZ music), whereas traditional Chinese music system (or any nation's traditional folk music for that matter) retains an element of improvisation that they can manage to break or bend the rule, and this is what the traditional Chinese music students used to their advantage, making the victory seem more "full" and extensive. But both versions are fun regardless. I always love some west vs local tradition stories.

The last instrument唢呐 Suo Na is not usually so soft. It was the ultimate weapon to beat Western in the movie and the tone was very high and sound was very bright then turn the whole trend away.

Lol this is so very funny from an amateur's perspective. It's about how they are fighting for dominance but they are actually complementing each other so well.
Brilliant music and musicians
Flat lifeless presentation
Misses the passion of the movie
I like the mix between 4 seasons and traditional chinese music, it was a very good blend of the two.
Gorgeous too, I can't get enough of watching this wonderful video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
wow i love that one and they are many student playing music that make the song an amazing. This the best song i see it in my life . I think they learn that in many years this is amazing me i can learn it . THAT AMAZING!
WOW WOW WOW ! nothing to say more... incroyable... Merci ! Thank you !
I like this music arrangement better. It is a test of a combination of improvising and ensemble-playing skill.
Here's what I think is happening:
The competition began with a coin toss.
@@yukishiro3287 interesting. I need to watch the Dharma soon.
Hahahahaha! The violin player where the bow position is really cracks me up. 🤣
3:22 daum that is too beautiful
Kenapa harus bersaing keduanya bagus, aku sangat menikmati pertunjukan keduanya baik yg instrumen modern maupun instrumen klasik, apalagi klo dikombinasikan makin indah pastinya ❤️
Imagine being the person whose job is to open the door for the different instruments because you didn't practice enough to play with the others 😭
Hahaha keren dan lucu..Mau donk pak dokter jdi modelnya...wkwkkw...
The last instrument唢呐 Suo Na is not usually so soft. It was the ultimate weapon to beat Western in the movie and the tone was very high and sound was very bright then turn the whole trend away. Here is very ambiguous. The arrangement here is not for ordinary people maybe for professionals to tell how the traditional orchestra won.
First Rimsky-Korsakov, now Vivaldi! What could be better! KEEEEEEEP GOING!
This Video shows show's how beautiful & majestic music is to everyone in all cultures.
Great transitions and an extremely respectful interpretation
2 2nya kesukaan😀
The irony is that as they compete they prove how well they compliment eachother
Great team! Great team!
Don't fight. All you are So good!!! Bravo!!!
Traditional music is still deep in My heart
Love From Nepal 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🍀🍀🇳🇵🍀💙💙💙💙
This so wonderful! Competition in the pursuit of arete!
What noteworthy kids! Let's old farts unite East/West, North/South to give them a better world than we have so far!
Hm... I don't care whether anyone else is inspired by these kids, I'm going to ride for a better future for them even if no one is with me -- but everyone is welcome to come along!
Loved how the roots and tradition triumph!
Where can we see it in England? We love shining days its epic.
Iqiyi
They're always playing the classical music😁 why didn't they have a battle on traditional music too?😅 I wished to hear they battle for a traditional music piece too but oh well, they still sound beautiful 😍
😂😂
I love this music😊
They were great, do you know the name of the movie? What country is the product from?
O cholera aż mnie ciarki przechodzą gdy tego słucham.
Some parts, specifically the 'pipe' instruments, I can imagine matching very well with their western 'counterparts' to the point it plucks something not hearing it there.
This accurately represents every music club when they compete for more budget from the school.
Waah keren,, tapii yg traditional yg paling kereen

Great quality master piece.. what movie called
