Thanks for doing this review. It looks to be a decent kit, with loads of room to scratchbuild the missing details that I can see, but thats because I've been in and around these birds since 1992, and know them inside and out. The modeler in me won't let me build a half ass rendition of it, lol
Wow, now that is a big model and no mistake Beez mate. I have never seen a 1/35 scale Chinook before and this one seems to be ticking all the right boxes. There seems to be plenty of detail and the parts seem well protected too. If it goes together as well as it looks, this will be one very large impressive model indeed mate. I don't know how you are going to fit it into a diorama, but I would bet my last pound that if anybody could do a fantastic job of it, it would be you Beez mate, your Dioramas are just the Dogs Nads!! Best of luck with this one and whenever you do go ahead with the build, please let us know how it all goes together. Many thanks for sharing this lovely kit with us and have fun with your modelling mate. Joe
Jeez, Beez!!! The 440 mm length are excluded the rotors I guess! I wouldn't have the space for it and up to now I didn't even know this kit existed. Well, I never looked for a helicopter kit in 1/35 except for the Huey, hehehe! I like the metal landing gear. The model will be quite heavy and it's good to know that these parts can carry the weight. The pre-bent rotor blades are cool! Wow, I can't wait until you start it next year. That was a well spent half an hour! Take care. :)
Well, since no one else chimed in: The aft pylon is blunted off on the D model, and has different vents on the front. The D model sponsons are slightly different, although most people won't notice any of the differences other than the strakes that were added for better stability. The D model also features the asymmetric rotor blades. That pretty much covers the main differences between the kits. In real life there are many more that you wouldn't see on either kit.
Lack of any details in cargo bay (ie bench seats ) and any defensive weapons a major disappointment for the price. Bought one years ago, still unbuilt despite purchasing some Cobra Company detail sets. Want to build British version with Land Rover WMIK coming out back to hide empty cargo bay. Anybody know if conversion for British Chinook available?
All good mate at least you paint your own stuff I just looked at this guys napoleonics he has like 1800 views and what do I find half way through my figures that he is working on figures that I painted and put on my blog so I left him a long wordy what the heck
Watched about five minutes, got bored. If youre going to do a review, I prefer one where it looks like youve seen the item before and thought about what youre going to say, rather than waiting for you to hem and haw and "uhhh..." and contemplate. In other words, script it out, move along quickly. This review could have been done in about eight minutes.
In my opinion, one of the things I love about trumpeter is how they include rubber tires in all of there kits.
