Takes a lot of time, but once you find the tools and techniques that works for you, just prepare a good template with the right presets and there you go
@RichiiWainwright I don't get where your choice of plugins comes from. Is it some time proven stuff, or just something you picked out to be production quality? It is pretty frustrating and confusing to see you jump from one plugin just to another to dial in one, specific thing in the chain. I am pretty sure Gojira X has all the things needed for the tone to be shaped but I guess not? It's just these things
@@Landekar yeah this is literally just me using whatever plugins I have to get close to the sound as easily and simply as possible. In reality the production of this song, if you could see the original DAW session, is probably WAY more complicated than what I’m doing here
This is fantastic. You effortlessly recreate some difficult sounds and tones and create what is basically a perfect homage to some modern icons. As a performer and producer, I'm learning so much just watching. Thank you
Always love your videos. Been trying for years to get to this level. I'm not quite there yet. But videos like this help. I just started layering my drums with a 909 kit tuned down a bit and heavily saturated. Now I know I'm on the right track. Thanks for the great video.
Some really cool ways to approach stuff in this man, good stuff! Did want to point out something - and truly no shade because like you said it's so hard to pick out what the instruments in a production like this - but the bursts of notes you said were triplets and not gallops are actually 4 notes, take a listen at half speed or something and you'll hear it. Just something I think goes a long way to making the fast bits feel really 0 to 100 with the super quick bursts really tightly cut around.
Sickkkkk!!! I’ve been jamming the hell out of this! Thanks for sharing all the information and free plugins that you do! It’s really helped all the way from mixing and thinking of new ways to be creative and layering more elements! I found the Dr drive plugin thanks to you and use it all the time! Keep up all the vids!
youre so good at these vids! not sure if youve done a studio rundown video before, but that would be cool to see all your gear and fave plugins overall
I feel so validated right now. I also by chance layered a UJAM synth kit over something I produced recently and it honestly added so much balls. Great to see it's actually "a thing" :D Overall your mix sound so damn good, I'll be stealing all the tips. Thanks for sharing.
really cool! the only thing I think is quite far off is the guitar tone, it still sounds kind of ''demo-ish'' here, but youre ideas on the drums, bass and synths are really damn cool. Good ear for production!
@@davidsanfeliz4453 I do but I'm booked up until at least June, probably even longer. Rates vary a lot depending on how many multitracks/stems I'd be mixing and how much work is needed before it will sound the way you want it to sound. Hit my email (in description) if you wanna discuss further though and I will get back to you asap!
@@gabrielbarbosa4366 it’s just the one I showed in the SS-11X plugin (it’s not custom, just comes with the plugin). I’ll start putting my specific presets up on my site soon tho for anyone wanting the specific amp settings etc.. just need to find the time!
everyone's got their own way of doing things so I am not trying to be a butt here... but what is the sense in writing out your drum midi on individual tracks? why not write it all into one track and send that midi on separate channels to your desired track? and then you can print those individually or print the bus. I did what you are doing back when I was first recording and didn't understand what "sends/ receives" were.
When I'm working on a bigger production I'll route everything out, but I made this pretty quickly so just duplicated the GGD track to have a kick and snare. And then obviously for Cymbals I'm using a different plugin so that's its own track
just cuz I have the OKW metal kit already and found I could get pretty close to the sound with it. OKW Architects would be a little closer for sure but it'd still need a bunch of extra processing + layering like I've done here to achieve the sound Jordan got in this song
Not even slinky. 12-56. I actually decided today I'm gonna sell this guitar haha. I love how it looks but it's just not the most sensible option when I need a low tuned metal machine
@RichiiWainwright Makes sense. I recently picked up the Mark Holcomb signature PRS (six string) set up in Drop C. I am trying to figure out what tuning/gauge I should set it up in for versatility with this kinda low tuned stuff. Trying to avoid buying yet another guitar for super low stuff like this if possible.
@@ryan.phillips Nice! Love his signature PRS. I would think it'd handle drop G# well enough... maybe not any lower since it's only a 25.5 neck. But I'd say anything from 56-62 on the bottom string would be perfect for a low G#
This really confirms everything I don't like about modern metal mixes and modern metal songs. Way too digitized, more akin to pop than a rock/metal mix. It feels sterile and fake rather than that organic, raw rock/metal sound. 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Can't even imagine what it'll be like in another 10 years.
always looking for input from you guys to help me improve but that's a terrible way to ask for something. You're probably like 10 though so it's cool. 1. I have to consider copyright, the more of the track I show the more likely it'll get flagged 2. I have to consider video length. The longer my videos are the fewer people tend to watch 3. I assumed you guys wouldn't care about hearing the full thing because you already know how the song sounds. But like I said if more people start asking for this (in a reasonable way), I'll try it in a future vid.
