  • In this video I will talk about my experience with the Harley Benton Amarok Baritone - and what I like and don't like about! Also, I will incorporate a small shootout between this guitar, with it's EMG Retroactive Hot 70 pickups, and an Epiphone Les Paul Studio that I upgrade with a Seymour Duncan SH-2 Jazz in the neck position and a Seymour Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge position.
Let me know what you think and please subscribe if you haven't already! :-)

I swapped the pickups for a set of EMG 60/81! You can watch that video here: ua-cam.com/video/gPO8W6Wzax4/v-deo.html

I have 2 Amaroks, both are amazing and absolutely can not be beat for anywhere close to the price. I’ve been playing baritone guitars for a few years, when you want to go low, there’s no better way!

Fake compression?! What does that even mean?! The pickups either compress or they don't.

Harley Benton sent me my first Amarok-7, it was great, but then it started to have an issue within about a week, I think it's a pot issue, I need to check still, they quickly sent me a whole new guitar, and didn't even have me return mine. Amazing company and I will be going with them again.

For the pickup replacement issue, you could try the fishman fluence open core classic pickups and see how they work for you.

The thing is (for now) I want to stay in the EMG ecosystem, because then I don't have to swap the whole wiring, just the pickups really. Funnily enough, just today I bought a set of EMG 60/81 second hand, we will see have those sound in this guitar...so stay tuned!
      Thanks for watching! ;-)

@@MadebyMiike was just a suggestion to consider in the future if the emgs aren't for you. Though to be fair emg had so many different pickups to try. Some compressed, some smoother, others more aggressive. Just depends on taste and experimenting.
I'll definitely look forward to hearing how those sound then in a baritone though.

Also, the 24v mod would easily fix how closed these pups are. I use the 24v mod and it has the compression only when I want it do I have it.

Hello, great vid, I bought an Amarok-BT but I swapped the strings to 12-62 since I prefer a little sloppier Standard B/Drop A, but even using the truss rod the 2 top frets (lowest notes) are hell of a buzz!
The rest of the fretboard sounds fine, should I return the guitar or take it to a shop and adjust those 2 frets?

    • @MadebyMiike

Definitely the Alpha and Omega pickups by Seymour Duncan. They are a little bit more expensive than their standard pickups (I guess because they are Signature pickups), but worth every cent. They just sound right! And sweet played clean!

    • @michaelnugent9758
      @michaelnugent9758 Рік тому +2

The baritone is a longer scale length to facilitate down tuning so you don't have into ation issues or have to use monster strings. The longer scale length maintains intonation much better and sounds different (imo better). Try one out some time. They're fun!

Typical Harley Benton, a great guitar trying to escape a poor choice of pickups.
Buy some humbucker pickup rings and a router, even a dremel is far better than files.
