The 2021 US Open saw Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain's Emma Raducanu claim the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first major title, with 18-year-old Raducanu becoming the first-ever qualifier to achieve the feat. Imagine at that time... Federer didn't have a coach. He just used to win slams and try to remain as emotionless in matches
Even in 2004 I think he consulted with his Davis cup captain and wife. Ɓut officially no coach. Great match where everyone got to see Fed at the height of his powers in those bagel sets.
Federer's 2004 was incredible. He also went that entire year without a coach.
his very first dominating year
I can' believe that in 2004 TV were like "no the score is not important to watch a tennis match"
That's the point. To keep you watching until you figure out the score or someone says it.
They kept the score out to preserve some dignity for Hewitt 😂
@@xdkwolfx 😅 they needed people to believe it was a close match so they would keep watching
A Federer fan's favourite match.
Will never forget that 18 min first set was beautiful carnage
It is impossible in history to finish two sets 6-0 6-0 in a grand slam final!!!
its impossible for everyone else you mean
There is a reason why Federer is The G.O.A.T.
Nole has one 6-0 6-1
@@baydinh2889No he doesn't.
@@baydinh2889 No he doesn't. Next time you try making a comment like this do some research first.
Coming from a Rafa fan, Federer’s 2003-2008 Forehand is the greatest forehand we have ever seen in tennis
yes this is true but it does not make him the GOAT. It means 2007 federer would be a tough out for anyone that has ever played the game
@@derrickc1353 There is no GOAT, but he's definitely better than Nadal and Djokovic.
@@sananton2821 He lost some big matches to both of them not on Clay. So not convinced that he is better than Djokovic, probably better than Nadal.
This version of Federer is underrated/overlooked. His forehand and movement was lethal. And the courts seem to play very quick back then. This version of Federer beats a lot of all-time greats for sure and gives a Sampras Djokovic Nadal and McEnroe problems. Even though 05-07 overall game is better. But in 2004 his movement and forehand is at a high level.
What’s fascinating going into this match, Hewitt didn’t drop a set going into the final, and he had a winning h2h against Federer. Crazy stuff
It was ominous from the very first point. Hewitt serves, receives the return and hits a perfectly reasonable rally forehand only for Federer to swat it away into the corner like he's already two sets up.
Hewitt's forehand there was bad. Weak return, and Hewitt pokes it into the middle of the court right into Federer's hitting zone
thanks a lot. I want this match.
The evolution of tennis from the 80's to this is striking, much more power based already here in 2004. And then of course, things have also developed since 2004 🙂
So great!!
Could you pls upload the Anderson Murray 2015?
Probably Roger's best match ever
Should have won the second set without losing serve. 🤔
Second best match ever, his best match ever is him destroying Blake at ATP year end Masters cup 2006.
I believe this is the last year they played with inside the lines painted in green. Starting in 2005, they changed to the blue on green courts.
why don't you upload the 60fps version?
JOTennisVid have this final in Full HD!
I almost get the feeling that Roger was a little bored during the 2nd set and lost his concentration. Or perhaps after winning the 1st set he figured the victory was his, and so became careless. Brilliant regardless.
19:50 my man Norm Christ taking a nap. Thinking about what's for dinner on that line call
It can be argued that Hewitt actually outplayed Federer in this match, but Federer managed to win certain crucial points to score him the match.
Looks like they slowed court down in 2005 and then speed it up some in 2006/2007. Then slowed it down again in 2008. If you look at 2005 Us open matches for Federer you can see that he is not blowing his forehand by people like he did in 2004. But in 2006 and 2007 his forehand is going through the court quicker.
if Hewitt is a calculator ,Fed is computer😀
Roger Vs Leyton..
( 12 ) ( 3 )
And to think, going into 2004 Federer had a losing record against Hewitt.
no drama - fans are bored - Fed steamrolled LH
Obviously Hewitt had no chance to win Roger at that time, to be honest they are even not in the same level
The only thing that wasn't perfect about Federer is the upside down wristband...
Hewitt was just a baseliner, got hot, and then got smoked …
Lleyton Hewitt - 2001 to 2003 during his reign is a weak era of men's tennis...
People who think peak Djokovic can beat this Federer is insane.
He might take a set off but Roger would take the match without a doubt. No one can handle that forehand.
Weak shots by Hewitt... For a player with fantastic speed, here his defense is not amazing. Besides Djokovic better read a game. Peak Djokovic would destroy this Hewitt 6-0,6-3, 6-0.
yes Djokovic 2015 would have a problem with this version of federer forehand. but his backhand was not a polished as 05-07. So Djokovic would have to go big from both sides like he did in Australia 2008 and US open 2007. It would be a struggle for djokovic to beat Federer 04 for sure especially on the old green court at Australia and us open.
Go Novak!!!
Who is Novak?
I don't think Novak was even on the tour at the timr of this match
Always gotta mention Novak huh? 🤦🏼♀️
Who's that? The moronic antivaxxer?
Hajahahahahahhaha
The weak era 🎉
Djokovic faced ruud, Berrettini, tsitsipas, Anderson, kyrgios recently so weak era since 2019
@@dewman7477 Conveniently left out Alcaraz and Medvedev
@@Grivian Federer faced Nadal and Agassi in the supposed weak era but people don’t mention them as competition so why should I for alcaraz and medvedev? Hypocrite
@@dewman7477 You could at least mention Federer's true foes, Gaston Gaudio and Marcos Baghdatis
@@Grivian ok that’s true but Djokovic faced Berrettini, Kyrgios, ruud, Anderson and tsitsipas who are either one time slam finalists or inconsistent or both
This match proves the weak era champion status!!!
Current next gen is the weak era of tennis
hewitt weak???
Novak has played so many first time finalists to win a slam too.Stop being an idiot making baseless points.
How can u say that it’s a weak era? During this period til 2007, RF was high beyond 16000 points in his career and with him are few competitors who have 8k+ points (Safin, Nalbandian, Hewitt, Grosjean, Haas, Ferrero, etc). Do a little research.
imagine calling hewitt weak
And fed fans will defend that Hewitt was a worthy competitor to Federer and not a weak era at all 🤡 🤡
Hewitt was a former #1 and winner of 2 majors. Certainly more worthy than Rudd, Anderson, Tsonga, Ferrer, Puerta or Kyrgios.
Hewitt was a wimbledon champ and a us champ you dumbo
Get wrecked kiddo
