Don't be sorry, be informed. Too many Hollywood stars spoke up to debunk Christina's lies including court documents where she lies repeatedly and contradicts herself. Her mom did not have a chance to defend herself in person since the money-hungry child waited to write the book.

Christina had serious issues. She once was in the Elvis crowd in LA. Elvis abruptly threw her out if his house one night after a disagree about him and his cigar in his own living room according to Joe Esposito in his book about Elvis. She was not ever allowed to be anyplace near Elvis again.

We all seem to forget that Kirk Douglas was either dating her or happened to escort her to an event or something and corroborates Christine story. The kids were tied to their beds and he witnessed that. You also failed to mention her alcoholism and her disgusting behavior with Betty Davis. She had stopped drinking by the time she adopted the twins, so they had a much better upbringing than the two older children. The photo shoots were done by the studio and if Christine did not behave appropriately during those photo shoots she paid for it later. As always the victim gets blamed because the abuser is so charismatic and lies so easily and hides their abuse so well.

Actually it wasn’t till Joan’s long time manager came out and said the what was in the book was mostly true did people pay attention to the book.
Most of Crawfords fans couldn’t believe it and made it their mission to destroy Christine’s life.
Once the manager and a few other Hollywood stars came out to say they had witnessed the abuse too did the Public feel sorry for her.
Joan’s first house keeper agreed with Christine but the second house keeper did not.
And as you said later on in life she was a better mother. The second house keeper didn’t witness the abuse but the first one did.
It was when Joan was getting help, she fired the old staff and got new as if to get rid of the old staff was washing away the past.
It still took several years for the public to believe her.
The movie helped but the movie didn’t portray the true abuse. The mental and mood swings Joan went through.
Today we know it as bipolar or drug abuse and the public would recognize most of the symptoms.
But back then, not so much and thus not believe Christine.

“Christina lied because Joan was well liked by others”
While blatantly ignoring those who spoke out defending and backing her story Christina Crawford! Also most abusive (or even worse) people tend to be well liked by others! They’re super grandiose, many people think they’re nice! Remember how “well-liked” Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, or Nurse Lucy Lebty were before people found out they were literal serial killers!? Remember how everyone thought Colleen Balleniger was a sweet unproblematic youtuber, and amazing mother that would never hurt a fly!? A tiktoker by the name of Danisha Carter explained this topic very well, she basically explained that most abusers hide their abusive behaviors and tendencies from others so when their victims come forward, no one will believe them and will be quick to discredit their stories! “He or she would never do that, they’re nice to the mailman, they’re a Christian that goes to church everyday, they were nice to me, ect…”. Most abusers are well liked people from the outside looking in!
I believe and stand by Christina, every word!
Also about Joan Crawfords adopted Twins that spoke very highly of Joan when regarding her as a mother… A lot of people are quick to forget the narcissist family dynamic, so here’s the rundown
    Joan: the narcissist
    Christina: the scapegoat
    Christopher: the forgotten child
The twins: both the Golden children and flying monkeys

She said no because didn't want to spoil his dinner but he just ate 1 candy 🍬 from the box. Ms. Crawford then found out Christopher ate one and told him to bring the box and eat all the chocolates the witness said he's a child come on it's one chocolate. Ms. Crawford shush her saying he needs to learn his lesson, Christopher threw up and she made him pick up his own vomit.

Listen, if you research this more? You find that some of the children claim she never did any of that but also we know that theres something called "Cinderella syndrome" which is when a parent(s) pick out one child to take all the abuse. I believe that Christina was that child. Do i believe that everything happened exactly? No because she admits herself some things were exaggerated in the film. I do believe whole heartdly that she did suffer abuse at the hands of her mother. I think she was defiant, and angry and her mother wanted her full obedience.

There is always another role, so I don’t believe that a bunch of clearly staged photos are sufficient cover. Writing her two children out of her will cements her as mommy dearest. It’s one thing to write out Christina, but she vindictively wrote both the older kids out. Only cruel parents write their kids out of their will when there is plenty to go around…and she was only beloved by those who were gaining from her.

They actually weren’t twins. Joan was going to get twins and something fell through last minute so they found two girls who I think either might have actually at least have been siblings, or there were just 2 girls available and similar enough in age. But that because she had wanted twins so intensely and they couldn’t make it happen in time for the adoption, Joan just decided to pass them off as twins by dressing them in twin outfits and so on

Christina explained in the book that Joan's family had a dry cleaning business or something back in the day and Joan grew up very poor. They used wire hangers there, and when she got older she saw wire hangers as a symbol of poverty and they reminded her of her childhood, so she absolutely hated them. Hence "I buy you beautiful dresses, and you treat them like they're dish rags." So to put it simply she thought they weren't a bougie enough way to store expensive garments. At least that's what I remember--it's been years since I read the book.

My mom skipped the whole wire hangers part, and used the plastic clothesline on me and my brother. I had whelps all over, and a teen at church saw them when she took me to restroom. The physical abuse is bad enough, but the verbal abuse is what plays in your head nonstop when you are older. To this day, my narcissistic mother is a saint in the church and community, and I am still a scapegoat. I have come a long way, and raised two amazing kids, who I never abused. I also became a teacher and was able to recognize my abused students and get them help. I do not think I could watch this movie though. My grandmother and aunt played a crucial role
trying to protect me from my mother. My dad was always on my moms side, and she made sure I could not form a bond with him.
