Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! - willow
Thanks for an enjoyable video..
Only the 350/1 had 3rd rail equipment fitted. For a time they regularly appeared as far south as East Croydon running via the West London Line.
Although originally 100mph units they are now 110mpth. The 350/2 are now the only max100 mph 350's, as the 350/3's and 350/4's were built as 110mph. .
ahhhh that makes sense! now 377s run that so no need for it, thanks for the info! - willow
That first class 350 looked just like a steam loco...meanwhile a little known fact...the 350-2xx is the only variant with no plug socket in the driving/guards cab.
oh wow that's really interesting! do you know why it didn't have plug sockets? - willow
@@TheTransportTrio Not a clue!
The Class 350/3 made their debut with First TransPennine Express to strengthen their services to 8 coaches when the Commonwealth Games were on in Glasgow years ago. When the Class 196s entered service as the higher managers were on the train and did ask why the Class 350/2s were on the Trent Valley Line but the response wasn't what I was expecting but the 3+2 seating on long distance services are popular with Families. Personally not a fan of them on long distance services and would agree to jump into the ex-first class area.
I also remember then from London Midland days and 2010-2011 they did used to have trolley services on the train on the Crewe to London Euston Route which back then went via Stoke-on-Trent and Northampton, Birmingham to Liverpool and Birmingham to London Euston but they ended up being withdrawn as people prefer to buy the food/drink from the station.
Thanks for the info Simon, greatly appreciated. I agree that 3+2 is better for larger families, Would actually love to see LNR Bring back a trolley service when the 730s enter service on the Crewe runs, would really add some competition to avanti! -Ewan
brilliant video on the 350s & i personly pefer the /1.3.& 4s as they are more suited to long distance routes & have are the most superior 350s & im not a fan of the /2 as they dont have plug sockets in standard class & i was unlucky to ride a 350/2 from London Euston to Stafford last year & luckily i managed to get a seat in the first class bit & that will be intresting if SWR get the 350/2s im guessing if that happens they will become 450s like the rest of them
