Your "Yankee Clipper" clippings are a real treasure.
Oh, dear! I'm actually old enough to remember telephone party lines! I was able to get the first two volumes of "Hours In A Library" for free on Kindle, and "The Pity of War" for just $3.99. It's not the Brattle nor the Yankee Clipper, but I takes what I can get! Thanks for sharing, Steve.
Excellent haul. How great to it must be to go through those clippings. I’ll need to look into The World of Herodotus.
LOL that is the exact edition I had when I was reading the Shannara series when they came out. Remember them well :)
I think there were 6 books in the Alex Plumtree series. Had they been published now they probably would have gone on as long as the author wanted to write them.
yeah, only 6
Fascinating as always, thank you Steve. I was wondering if the staff at the Brattle are able to tell you any details about where the 'Yankee-Clipper' collection came from? (Is it only luck that they haven't fallen out and been lost while being thumbed at the Brattle?).
I collect and insert clippings too, but I like to preserve them in clear-plastic A4 binder pockets or thin plastic bag.
I hope the Brattle isn't separating collected volumes (Stephen and Durant)!
I found The Folio Society, boxed 3 volume, Hours in a Library by Leslie Stephen second-hand.
Good condition all those. I sympathize with bookcase and shelf space struggle!

Can't wait for tomorrow's Brattle book haul!
I know what a telephone is, DUDE. They’re in Mad Men …
Hah! Mad Men! I forgot about that -
@@saintdonoghue yes they were cast in a supporting role remember, alongside the lead which was played brilliantly by cigarettes in a dominate, screen-stealing performance
I love bookish mysteries. I also like literary mysteries like those by Tana French.
...and now we have the books about books Jenga shelf....
I think The Yankee Clipper of the Brattle is your psychic twin.
Psychic twin would be a better explanation than the one floated by another person: that the Yankee Clipper is ME, displaced just a fraction of a quantum ...
"Back in my day telephones had wires"
Hah! Well, I always feel like I need to explain land-line telephones!
Were those weird telephones like 3G or sumthin?
