@Velostrada Congratulations! A pleasure to watch. Over 440 km average of 28.4 km/hr is a dream I hope to achieve, with 19km/hr being my diamond frame average.
Recumbents are fast on the flats and downhills, but they pay for it on the uphills, as there is so much more weight to drag uphill, especially in a faired one, and (debateable) the pedalling position isn't as efficient.
To a certain extent you are right, that is why I am glad you wrote: "... and (debateable) the pedaling position is not as efficient ...." On a regular bike, increase the demand on energy by standing up pedaling. But what can one compare with ... a racing bike ... which can have no luggage ... or a touring bike ... City Bike? A velomobile are all 3 kinds of bikes in one. There are velonauts that can keep up with road bikes uphill, and the light recumbents without fairing is faster. But no matter what kind of bike it depends always on how much the "engine" can provide. It is natural to compare, but it does not always make sense, it's a bit like comparing apples and bananas :-)
They're not even all that faster. He's going like low 20 mile per hour most of time only peaking to 30. On a decent roadbike maintaining 27mph is quite easy not only on flats but slight uphills. All the extra weight, money, and inability to get past barriers or anywhere for not much really. I love em but the false sense of superiority and immature attempts at justification are just pathetic and mentally retarded. It's just a hobby and passion you gotta love to get one, just get the hell over yourself and go ride instead of acting like a manchild.

@@KandiKlover Physics disagrees with you. According to kreuzotter.de speed and power calculator, in order to maintain 27mph on the flat on a road bike riding on the drops, you need to put out a constant 420watts of power. On a 1% (fairly gentle incline) you need 531watts. A velomobile such as a Quest needs 182watts to do the same speed on the flat, and 329 watts to do it on 1% incline. Bradley Wiggins was able to produce 456watts for 55 minutes in 2011 World Championships. Chris Froome recently tested threshold power at 419 watts. If you can push out a constant 531 watts indefinitely, then get yourself into the Tour de France quick my man !
@Russell Moore. Can only have Velomobile fun with the vehicle. Skis are heavy to a walker. Never heard a skier saying "Oh, but the skis are sooo heavy to drag up hill" and no one would want to ski with him anyway. You just can't compare velonauting to diamond frame cycling. It is silly. Those who love the fun of speed and comfort and the knowledge that they are not fruitlessly pushing air around, love being in a velomobile. For those who don't care for those benefits, they ride diamond frames.
Daniele G Thank you. I use Virb Edit (Garmin, www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591 ) can be used with all cameras, if you just have the GPX file. This video was made with GoPro and the gpx file from my Garmin 800. Now I have the Virb Elite with GPS, much easier to synchronize now.
How many times more kilometers are you able to go with your velomobile compared to bike? I have ridden 120kms on bike in one trip, I am wondering if I released my energy in velomobile how many kms it would be.
Musicand Parkour For me personally it means that my radius is almost doubled compared to an "upright" bike. I do not have sore wrists or elsewhere. Of course you can feel the leg muscles has been used on a very long trip, but not worse than you can cycle the same distance next day. On my homepage i have written about it, www.velostrada.dk/min-strada/strada-og-hastighed/ , usually you can use google translate successfully
Not quite sure what you think about. Yes I might use the lane If the road is empty, the rule in Denmark is:Stay as far to the right as possible....It does not mean you should ride in the "ditch"

awsome, thanks for sharing
Thanks for uploading. nice road and view. Denmark fields are awsome.

Denmark is a great place to ride a VM. There are so many hills here in southern Germany -_-
All the more fun, but especially going down. Think of it like Langlaufing. :)
A knee issue. That why your average was lower than I expected (above 30km/h) :))

So, is the pedaling easier in this shell comparing the usual bicycle?
Very interesting...
It is more aerodynamic =lees wind to "move" =esasier pedaling. Of course uphill slower as it weight more than a normal bike
thx
