If all schools had a staff like this the world's future would be so much brighter
Big if only....
So true
My school hasnt got anything like this, we dont have a dedicated first aid. Thats what you get with a poor ass school.
Totally agree. This approach to education should be standard. The emotional development side will serve society so well in adulthood and reduce the number of people with personality disorders as adults.
This approach at school really restores my faith in things. I never had that and I would probably have saved myself a lot of bother and maybe done more with my life had I been given the same guidance at school.
Yesssss u took the words out of my head
These teachers are bloody heroes, and this series is absolutely brilliant for promoting the profession
Couldn't agree more

I think Caitlin might be depressed. I was exactly the same at her age. All I ever wanted to do was go home. I was always crying. No one understood that it took everything I had just to get out of bed. I didn’t feel safe there. The only place I felt safe was at home
You might have had school anxiety
Rebecca Mace omg same! I suffered so so much for 1 year at school
i was the exact same last year, i also had terrible anxiety, i was told just to stay home by my progress leader and now in year 9 i’m on a part time timetable, i go in for english, drama and ict and i get the rest of my work sent home, 3 weeks into the school year and i haven’t had one day off and i’m so proud of myself :)

Naomi Lanney All my teachers know my name bc I annoy them all
Lol How can all of them not know tho? 😂
TRUE. I come from a rlly pressuring top school and even though there is support, none of our teachers are as SUPPORTIVE AS THESE ONES.
Naomi Lanney sane
Naomi Lanney but that’s good because they know that they don’t have to deal with you in a bad way , usually teachers only know the naughty peoples names because they have to put up with them all of the time

My school councillor is terrible I wish I hadn't wasted two years thinking I was getting help when I wasn't I was getting worse, finally getting the proper help that's needed outside of school, these teachers are amazing, every school deserves teachers like this that can actually help
Lillith _ I know these types of teachers are rare, most teachers (even specialists) have no idea what they’re doing and make things worse
Innit my school is so bad with stuff like that my friend went to a teacher and said there was something wrong with me she spoke to me before the holidays but i wouldn't talk and she wanted me to come back after the holidays to make sure i was ok i then told her that I was having a hard time at home and my parents were saying that they didnt want me and wished i was dead and they should have gotten an abortion she was lovely about it and told the people she needed to so they could help me and said if you ever need to talk you can always to talk to me so no one ever spoke to me and I went back later on when it got worse and she told the same ppl so then the safe guarding team pulled me out and talked to me and that was the end of it until my friend told the school that I wanted to kill myself and I was planning to they called in my parents and that was it and then my parents found out I was selfharming and told the school they spoke to me once and all they asked was can they see the cuts. They did not support me at all they made it worse by telling me that it was my fault and that I'm not helping myself by not talking to them whilst I was having a panic attack like I'm no professional but isn't that exactly what you shouldn't do???
My school councillor threw a spoon at me and yelled my spoon. I walked out and didn’t return

Mia's mum pisses me off so much. She says she doesn't want her making the same mistakes, but she's laughing and smiling when a teacher has to come round just to try and get her to school. If it was me, I would drop them there myself, and every time she truanted home, I'd take her back. THEN, if I couldn't, I'd call the school. She's clearly no where near as bothered as she pretends to be.
NoHeroesGaming she can’t drop her off herself tho she’s got to take 3 other kids and has to get to work and
I a m C o o l My cousin is 28 with 2 kids and cares for my other cousins kids at the moment due to his ill health, is a working single parent and her/his kids make it on time without fail. Until recently one of the kids wasn't old enough for school, so she'd do the 10 minute walk to school with all the kids and brings the little ones with her, then go back. She also suffers from chronic pain. Her parents are there for her, but both work full time and work night shifts as carers so aren't really able to help much with the school situation, they help more at weekends to give her a break. Unless she has a baby, I don't really see an excuse to not make sure her kids get to school. She was 100% right to get prosecuted. It seems like its a bit of a front for the camera, she was letting Mia do what she liked at home and didn't seem to truly care when the support teacher came over. It definitely didn't seem authentic. To be honest, kids only really start going home if their parents don't send them back or don't seem to care. If I turned up home on a school day, my parents would have literally given me the biggest non-physical hiding of my life. I faked being ill once to get out of maths, and my mum and dad were livid because they knew the only person I was fooling was myself and the only grades I was jeapordising were my own. They didn't even ground me, and I still felt guilty for a week after about it. Thats good parenting.

I have a lot of empathy for young people. Watching these series...I just want to hug them all and encourage them to be the best they can be.
Why? I'm not stating that children should go without emotional support and encouragement from their parents and teachers, but mollycoddling kids (like shown in this series) creates another generation of entitled kids who think the world owes them. Mr Chambers seems to have the best balance between being empathetic and having old fashioned tough love.
Andrew Smith dude you obviously don’t understand how hard school is nowadays? And holy shit the ignorance of teachers thinking kids are just going through phases when they obviously have major mental health issues making life hell for them (for example, caitlyn)
Rosalina 90 Omg that’s honestly the nicest comment I’ve seen. Thank you can u be my parent lmao my parents are just like that other guy who was on about ‘mollycoddling’ and honestly it’s made everything so much worse. We need more people in the world like you. X

Wish all schools had the same teachers as these going above and beyond the call of duty to get these kids an education
Soraya Watkins and most of them don’t even get decent grades so is it worth it
jessie x it is worth it, these secondary schools are the kind that are in the poorer areas where kids and parents have a hard time as it is, then kids have to go school and get stressed out on top of all their other life problems. trust me, I know. It’s worth it to get us an education even if it takes a teacher going out to people’s houses to take them to school.

Except you need to be 18 to get diagnosed. Stop self diagnosing moody teenagers with personality disorders. If she is still the same at 18/19 then maybe but for now she is way too young for anyone to be able to tell. Hormones and puberty are a thing
Thoran EH it’s really ignorant to blame possible mental illnesses on “hormones”. my mum did the exact same thing. eventually i went to the doctors and i got diagnosed with bipolar disorder. i was 15. it wasn’t “hormones”, it was something wrong with my brain. it’s so dangerous to blame these problems on stuff like that. you have no idea what it can end in
Thoran EH also, you can be diagnosed with a mental illness at any age. young children get diagnosed with depression. if it’s a chemical imbalance in the brain then it isn’t just limited to adults.
Another pointless account Well, not for all mental illnesses you can’t. For example, BPD, Anti-Social Personality Disorder and other mental illnesses can only be legally diagnosed at the ages of 18+. This is because the symptoms of BPD and Anti-Social Personality Disorder could be very similar to someone who is having a very hard time with puberty.
@@thoraneh7365 no you don't need to be 18 I went to a doctor as such and I did not get diagnosed as such but someone younger than me did
Principle Drew Povey was suspended last year! So insane to hear after watching this documentary multiple time and seeing how inspiring all the teachers were and their relationships with the students. Schools are honestly better off dealing with self harm/mental health internally. Speaking as someone who was referred to CAMHS when I was 13, then referred a second time when I was 17. What a wonderful team of educators, here in the US kids with behavioral problems have Individualized Educational Plan and school designated for their educational needs. I am not sure how UK education system works. Based on these documentary the schools lacks intense mental/emotional support team. passion/compassion/love and supportive team of teachers/staff. I am so proud of you guys.
I get student support and development staff but I think it might be going a little too far when the state is paying people to knock on doors to get people out of bed in the morning...
@nobcheesy get your point but what's the tongue piercing gotta do w anything..
Sam C well if they don’t get an education they’ll be paying (at least some of them) benefits their whole life... cost benefit ratio works out in theory
Sam C lbblhb
Student support isn’t doing that for every students they’re doing it for the ones who they know aren’t gonna come into school otherwise you can see that by the students they drive to school - eg Cody literally wanted to leave school and probably wouldn’t have shown up if that teacher won’t knocking on her door
Ik they only want the best for them but going to a kids bedroom and waking them up as a teacher is weird
Person like Caitlin is very annoying and hard to properly interact with, but doesn’t approach and harm someone and usually has some art-related unique talent.
It’s so easy for a teacher to see a miss behaving student but only the good ones try and understand why and truly help
