Elliot I think some type of solid casters would work for you. If you were to turn with the blower down you could potentially rip the wheels off. Nice blower look like your ready for the big snows.
Insider information: I ordered some implement wheels, like on a brush hog. Gunna make the connection point super stout with 4 points of connection on 2 planes so I can leave it down and turn the tractor with it down. Only way to find out is to try it!
With gravel driveways, it's best to drive over the snow to pack it down and create a solid base layer. Once it's good and frozen then you can use the snowblower. As for your skid shoes, set them to maximum height until the ground is frozen and you have the base layer of packed snow.
@@EverythingElliott In that case, play with the top link of the 3 point hitch to make sure the front edge of the skid shoes are tipped up a bit. This should prevent them from digging in.
I always loved taking my son out on the tractors with me. If you get a chance I would look into inverted blowers. Looking at you place you could really rock one. I know how much of a game changer that blower is for you now. But the inverted is a whole other level of game change. It would actually help you stay dryer as you drive away from the snow plume.
I've tried them before, Im not a fan of the snowpack from your wheels constantly getting compressed before removing the snow. Also I found myself looking back at it just as much as a rear facing blower because I concentrate on getting as close to the edge of the driveway as possible.
Yup as mentioned just let it freeze , I use my pusher the fist 2-3 times but hey wheels will work just more fiddling around which you like anyway ! Good luck
That's really cool to see you have your son out there with you doing the stuff together. Nothing like Father and son quality time. The cat is probably up set I believe his name is Theodore😊
I do have a napa, but they wanted $18 per fitting, and $60 per hose. I got them from a hydraulic wholesaler online for $6 a fitting and $30 for the hoses.
I would wait for frozen ground or just dont let the blower touch the ground. I generaly dont even remove the snow for the first few storms until I get a nice snow pack.
Cool stuff. But you life might be easier with an atv and a snow plow with glide shoes. I think atvs make the best snow plow tool until you get heavy depths.
I used to have a plow for my ATV but it was fairly useless with the type and amount of snow I get at my house. I would agree that for light fluffy snow they work well but most of our snow is lake effect and is very wet and heavy
Wheels have nothing to do with the side of the blower...they are going in the same spot the skid shoes are right now. If you don't know what I mean, check out this video ua-cam.com/video/JXogYpGcqDM/v-deo.html at about the 13 minute mark and it should make more sense to you
Hi Elliott, funny how you mention putting wheels on your snowblower. I did just that a few weeks ago and have a UA-cam video posted about it. Looks like it will work great, but the first time I tried them I had them set too low and was still picking up rocks. At least the skid shoes weren't digging in the driveway anymore. Will post a follow up video when we have a good decent snowfall in eastern Canada. ua-cam.com/video/HG3XztNNFYw/v-deo.html
I checked it out! Great Job, I went ordered some 3" wide implement wheels (like off a brush hog) to keep it from sinking down in the gravel. Essentially we have the same idea!
Making memories for a lifetime for the little one ☺
I hope so!
Living, probably, 30 minutes from you, your content is pretty cool to see!
Thank you!
That 7ft blower was a nice pickup. That was some heavy snow we got, made light work of it.
Gotta find us a 10' blower for your backhoe!
Nice! Your like a real Canuck riding around with that blower on backwards
Drive my tractor in forward gear too much in the summer, gotta unwind the transmission come winter!

Excellent set up
Thank you!

That’s what I normally do…the skid shoes just dig in though and cause the cutting edge to dip lower to the gravel than it should

Little man was probably thinking "Who the heck are you talkin to Dad??!".
No doubt about that, but he was just happy to be out there on the tractor!

Put edge tamers on the side. Should help. They are from buffalo area. Made for snow blowers.
The sides aren’t the issue, it’s the skids on the unit. They just dig in because the unit is so heavy…

Gotta stay busy with projects! What else would I do?!
Interesting what you find out. I have the same issue with my front mount snow blower. Congrats on getting close to 10K
stay tuned and you'll get an idea of how I'm going to get it all put together! Thanks for watching!

Don't you have a NAPA Auto store. They have hydraulic hoses and all types of that's where I get all my lines stuff.
Theodore is not happy that he's been replaced with my new buddy.

@@EverythingElliott yes I understand what you are saying they are but they were the closest ones to me and I really did not have to wait that long
Wheels would be a good idea
I think so! Thanks for watching!
Great video too bad you don’t have a front mounted PTO so you can use it on the the front
Front PTOs aren’t very popular in the USA which is unfortunate. I think they are super useful

Unfortunately that isn't an option for me with a small child and wife at home

Wheels, bad idea, in deep snow, The sides of blower are designed to cut thru snow... Wait for frozen ground..

Have a great week get ready for the next snow, try wheels
Thanks for Watching! Wheels are happening!

What size is your snow pusher?
its 72" wide...if I did it again I would buy the 84" wide one.
