What is Visual Positioning System (VPS)?

Visual Positioning System, or VPS, has been the buzz of the town for the past few months. VPS is a feature in Google Maps that helps to overcome the challenges of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and gives more precise locations. VPS enables a device, such as a smartphone or a drone, to determine its location and orientation in the physical world using visual cues. It uses computer vision algorithms to analyze images from a camera or other optical sensor and match them against a database of known locations or features.

How many cameras would be switched on at the same time if #vps is used instead of #gps ?

Open the Google Maps application
Determine the destination or location you want to go to.
Start Navigation
tap the "Directions" button to start navigation.
Select Walking Option: as the travel mode.
Select Live View
Follow On-Screen Instructions:
Point your phone camera around to scan the environment. Live View will display navigation information in the camera view in real-time, showing the direction and distance to the destination.
Follow the Directions:
Follow the on-screen instructions to reach your destination. An arrow or sign will appear on the camera view, guiding you along the right path.
