In Bermuda...we call these hummers. I've never thought about not doubling the hummer though..that's probably why mines have never "sang". Got it sounding nice though...might've needed a little more tail for the wind to stead it out a bit more.

This particular kite isn't really designed to look good. It's just a quick paper job and the brown paper is a lot more durable.
