Do you know if the suspended flocs disrupt the nitrification? Even after going through settling tank, there will be still be suspended particles that go through to the biofilter and likely to get trapped, and built up on the biofilter eventually, especially when the floc volumes have reached above 5-10 ml/L.

That's part of the plan isn't it? those suspended solid would make anoxic area that would later depletes the oxygen in that area causing the process called denitrification. Basically finishing the nitrogen cycle. If there are none of it, the nitrate would accumulate inside the system and someday it would be high enough to kill your shrimp or fish.

@@bittersweet4074 yes it is.. I have similar system setup and the nitrate-N never went above 50 ppm at the end of cycle

Well done! Keep improving! Follow u, 2 yrs already. Good job! I tink u need to humble enough to learn from India who has made good progress n performance in biofloc shrimp farming. They can set up outdoor pond completely covered by tough hdpe sheets but may not be economic in M'sia. Hope to come to your farm tis year if Omicron variant dun go crazy.
