    Binaural recordings are the very best way to demonstrate what a speaker can do (especially if the audience has decent listening gear).
    Subbed after this, the first video I've seen from you. Hope you still do these demos. The comparison with direct original and speaker output is fantastic!

    Obviously you are not going to get the true sound of these speakers in a UA-cam video. However, compared to other sound tests, this was one of the best ones. Considering the limitations of a compressed UA-cam video, the speakers sounded very good!

    So impressive, that’s it’s unnerving! My listening area is about that size...maybe. These are tiny, but the listening position makes them sound bigger/fuller than my Totem Arros. These are also very detailed. Thank you for putting that effort into the binaural capture.

    • @drazenbabich

      The 12 series tweeter hails back from the 11 series. The idea was to make the tweeter surround as flat and non-protrusive as possible with the tweeter dome brought as close as to the surface of the ring as the laws of physics would allow. This would forgo the use of a more recessed style 'wave guide' design many a speaker manufacturer uses these days, to allow unobtrusive sound wave dispersion from the tweeter, resulting in much less separation from the high and low frequencies two-driver speaker designs carry and a wider center sound stage.
      Just by looking at the tweeter on my 11.2 and comparing it with the photos of the 12 it appears the new 12 tweeter is actually more recessed than the 11, which is little strange since this is the feature specifically touted on the 12s.
      I would also like to know if Wharfedale dropped the sealed rear chamber as known on tweeters from the 11 series. That allows the tweeter to be isolated from the rest of the cabinet resonance to a great degree as the whole driver is sitting inside a separate closed round plastic box. There's no mention of this on the new 12 series.

    • @joentell
      @joentell  3 роки тому +1

      Haven't tested the Q150's, but typically, more efficient speakers with a v-shaped response help compensate for our ability to hear certain frequencies at low volumes. These aren't bad, but maybe not as good as say some Klipsch speakers.

    I’m curious about the 12.2’s. I know with copyright issues we’re stuck listening to stuff we’ve never heard before. So hard to get a reference for the sound. How does this speaker do for classic rock? Say Zeppelin, AC/DC, Rush etc? We need some heavy guitar and drums.

    I have the Wharfedale Diamond 220 (white), quite pleased with them. Do you have a demo of this model? The Diamond 12.1 you demo are impressive. Unfortunately my bookshelf speakers are not on stands and away from the wall, they would probably sound even better if they were placed like yours. Keep up the good work and greetings from Rome, Italy. :-)

    Earlier on this week I watched a video where the diamond series of 12.0 12.1 12.2 and 12.3 were put up against each other, the 12.3s came out on top, not surpisring as it had bigger bass drivers than all the others and its size was boardering on being floor standers as opposed to bookshelf, but also as expected quite a bit more expensive, what was surprissing was the 12.1 ones did not get a very good review by any of the reviwer's, normally the .1, versons of the diamond series i.e. 9.1 10.1 11.1 get very good reviews, and good value for money, what did come out of this review was the 12.0 came out above the 12.1 in their opinion, and nearley on par with the 12.2, making it punching well above its price tag, and I have to admit it certainly did sound very good indeed. so if you had a tight budget then go for these the reviewer's said, now here's the nub, all of a sudden there has been a lot of the 12.1 on their own videos on UA-cam saying how good it is, I wonder if its because it has not sold as well and there is an excess of stocks at dealers still to sell.

    if i am not hearing it wrongly, the diamond widen the sound and the bass become more disperse. So in return the the bass become less focus, less tigher, less magnitude. overal sound become a bit less fuller or other word thinner. i guess if one's is to use this diamond, it need to pair with a proper sub like rel to bring back the mid bass and bass freq of the sound. for high freq part...not much of different than the original track, which is clear not fatigue and is as close to the orignal track. mid freq also get a bit of the effect of wide sound stage and disperse, so should be still ok and nice to hear. this is how i feel if i am not getting it wrong since i am playing it through my gear.
