I saw a theory a few weeks after release that said T10 must have lost all they worked on at some point during development, because for a game "built from the ground up" they sure reused a massive amount of assets from previous games. Had they just been honest about it, I think it would have been received a lot better. I tried the game and went back to all my other racing sims after 2 sessions. Forza got me into sim racing, but it's not up to snuff with what's coming out now.
I've played Forza since Forza Motorsport 3 and it's sad to see what's happened to the franchise. Forza Motorsport 4 was the last title made by a team with a clear passion for cars, this new bunch seem to have an "it'll do" attitude and it stinks. Meanwhile, their main rival Polyphony Digital has a team that does an incredible job when it comes to car and track models. They stripped back their catalogue so they could do what needed to be done while Turn 10 are still using models that were created eighteen years ago.
Exact same for me, the car lists from FM4 to FM(2023) proves the developer do not care about the game anymore either. I can go play FM4 right now and drive my irl car, but now I can't even play with the m model of the same car in the latest release. Why they don't have a bmw 1m in the latest game, or atleast didn't a couple of months ago, is a big head scratcher for me.
FM 4 was a digital love letter to cars and automotive passion and is a treasure. There hasn't been a game before or since where I could fire up a console, have the game load, and be on a track tuning a car in less than 2 minutes
@@wimpwilson I've gone back to playing Forza Horizon 4. Like Turn 10 , Playground Games most recent entry into the franchise was awful though. It plays like an interactive tourism advert and they ruined the lobby system. Playground made a lot of positive improvements to the livery editor, car audio and animations.....none of which were adopted by Turn 10, which is odd.
according to steamcharts FM8 is down to 656 active players compared to FH5's 13,086, FH4's 3,493, and assetto corsa's 10,545. if they're gonna turn the ship around they better do it quick because their window to fix it is closing.
This video was just recommended to me on the homepage you handled this video like you’ve been creating this style of content for years, well done. If you keep this up all year by Jan 1 2025 you’ll probably have a ton of new Subs. Happy new year to you!
Same, it was recommended to me as well. It's a simple made video with the host in front of a green screen and putting his face in different locations throughout the footage, but it is so on point, that it's simply nice to watch and doesn't distract from listening to him closely.
Online only and time-gated content are why I've said "goodbye" to this franchise after being a fan since the first game. And for those reasons, I've been enjoying playing Forza Motorsport 3! I tried Game-Pass and realized that I'm not going to play 100 games a month or whatever and in the long run, you pay lots of money to end up with nothing. It's glorified rental and I wish they'd stop ruining games for it. Good video. Also, you might have sold me on Dirt 5.
They arent "ruining games for it". Forza Motorsport has been on a decline in the eyes of fans before gamepass existed. Now it seems people want to use gamepass as a scapegoat to why the game they wanted to be good, isn't. Correlation doesn't equal causation. Its like a studio can under deliver before gamepass or while not being on gamepass and think its normal. They just are passionate anymore. But the second its on GP, its the sole or one of the main reason its bad. Doesnt make sense
@@cynthiaandoh9575 Yeah, I won't say it's the entire reason. You're right that they've been in decline for years. For me, the problem seems to be that they didn't understand what brought us back with their first four games and instead of building on those, they kept trying to reinvent them. My problem with Game Pass is that they are pushing for more live service games to get people to subscribe to that service. With the online-only nature of the game, you have to wonder if it will simply go away when they shut the servers down or if they will care enough to patch it for local saves. Not to mention that even now, when the game is new, people have difficulty even playing at all because they can't connect to the server. There are already plenty of live-service games that are simply gone now. I don't buy temporary games so I don't like that they're pushing for more of them. But yeah, it certainly isn't the sole reason. The passion just seems to be gone now.
I think you are right... all of these xbox games released recently REALLY feel like they needed a bit more time in the oven. GamePass/Management most definitely rushed to get the game out to pad the release schedule so they can say "Oh look at all these games we got." Also, this release now fix later culture in video games is not helping as well
Totally agree, I think the 'live service' mentality is a big part of the problem, that's why the track list is so thin at launch - it's all 'coming later'
@@wimpwilson and they took way more time than needed. A game better than Forza Motorsport 4 with the technology of today could have been made in 3 years with a passionate team. But they took 6 years for this game and nothing to show for it
Have been playing Forza since 2005, you're correct this iteration feels dead. But I wouldn't blame Microsoft or it's gamepass for the missteps. Turn 10 had 6 years to get it right which is 3x more then any previous Forza. Turn 10 needs to look in the mirror for this disappointment.
You are wrong imo,it's due to gamepass that this game has the bare minimum of effort into it,gamepass has become a quantity description instead of a quality description...look at Redfall and Starfield for example.
Redfall and starfield are both new ip's and were started before there was even a thought of them being on gamepass nevermind being owned by Microsoft. Forza motorsport is turn 10's 8th game in this series, 13 if you count their contributions to horizon. There is no excuse for what they delivered. Microsoft didn't make them ruin this 20 year old franchise with their horrible design decisions and poor workmanship.
@@markvanwalsem3201then what about games like hi fi rush which did very well despite launching on gamepass? Also they would have gotten paid regardless considering they are first party stidios, gamepass or not.
They made the mistake of going from their own game and copied way to many "fluff" aspects from GT. Stupid clothing as a reward for a character that no real gamer cares about in a racing game! Wasted entirely way to much game space on things that don't truly matter to the gameplay, and forced them to cut graphics on cars and the tracks you get to drive on. Signature cars not being upgradable, cars that should be in any racing game just flat out not in the game. But yup make sure we have 1036371916463 different fake legs and arms, cause you know amputees can race too...and oh fuck off already! Make a racing game about the cars, the tracks, and racing simple enough. I would've thought all the other racing game studios would have learned with the downfall of The Crew franchise. First game was great, an actual storyline to care about in a car game. Drag, drift, dirt effen Monster trucks, oh and you could actually control the cars!!! The second game fake social media followers, terrible storyline (if it can even be called one) cars that had zero brakes and tires that felt like they were made of concrete with how little your car turned around corners. Clunky controls for every vehicle type. And now the 3rd Crew game just looks like a cheap copy of Horizon. Its clear just like in Hollywood the people that were hired did not care about making a great game, all they care about is agenda which does not belong anywhere near a game no matter the genre!
I feel the same way about the new Forza. I'm already bored of it. I should not need to build experience to open more upgrades for the cars. Should be based on what I can afford. The reward system is awful. One trick I've been doing is getting enough credit for Race, and wider tires, then weight reduction. I've been destroying the field pretty easily with those 2 upgrades, on every car so far. And, over half the series is over before I get to drive my car at it's best, just to have too buy another car 2 races later. I have an Xbox Series S, and there is to access to older Forza titles on Game pass. Motorsport 7, and the new one, Horizon's 4 and 5. That kinda sucks. I wish I knew that before I bought it. Of course I should have looked, but this is Microsoft Forza, thought all of them on here would have been a given.
Yeah it sucks that they've removed the older Motorsports, it would be great to have an easy way to access them but they want to push everyone into the game unfortunately
Worst part of it is seems like T10 studio do not see a problem with this game and still stick to slow ass one per month worthless update system! Pretend like nothing happened here!
This video blew up so fast that UA-cam couldn't keep up when I sorted your videos by most popular. It still thinks the one with 375 views is more popular
Honestly, this review of motorsport 8 was actually a treat to watch through. Aside from little to no music being present in this video, I actually really enjoyed this video for what it is. Great work on this review 👍
I've Uninstalled and reinstalled FM8 like 4 times now. Realize it sucks, Uninstall, go play GT7. Reinstall, realize it still sucks, turn GT7 on again. I've had every Forza since childhood and thus new one is just a crap soup with sprinkles on top. Looks and plays worse than FH5, and missing features from FM7 like puddles and many tracks/cars. Also, they got a lot track surroundings wrong which sucks when you're used to visual reference points. Ill be waiting for a tower i usually use to judge a corner, but its missing, replaced by 8 billion trees. Trees of the wrong species.
- Bought it - played about 10 hours total - grew bored with repetitive and unimaginative gameplay - disappointed at how numb and lifeless it feels on a wheel - grew frustrated with bugs, glaring graphical imperfections and clear lack of attention to detail - buyer’s remorse I’m sure there’s literally millions of players who feel exactly the same as me. Do better, Turn 10. SIX YEARS and this is what you’ve got?
Meanwhile GT7 retained a high playerbase even after a year and half. I think turn 10 can't fight GT visually and should never do it. They should focus on the driving cause I think Forza Motosport driving mechanics is excellent.
Game pass didn’t make the game bad, turn 10 made the game bad. It’s missing some basic racing things such as a radar to show how close another vehicle is next you. Sorry but, I don’t race in 3rd person view I race from the cabin. Not to mention this game is buggy on pc and can’t hold a steady frame rate. So yeah game pass didn’t kill the game the dev team did.
I belive the idea is that GP is meant to have games that just have to make you play. They released this with the piss poor carpg system that is clearly there for player retention. Sales and profit don't matter to Xbox. Player retention is all they care about now. The botched release of this, halo, redfall, and the emptiness of starfield scream we will fix it later so keep playing a few times a week.
Agree that Turn 10 stuffed this one up bad - I think the idea was that the added pressure of being a premier gamepass title compounded the problems and also made Microsoft push to release even when the game clearly needed more time (after 6 years development)
@@wimpwilson definitely needed more time, especially with the car progression and car models. I kinda let it go at first till i started driving the cars i liked (skyline gtr 2002) and boi... the comparison to just the 2023 sentra is night and day.
I didn't get any visual glitches with the game, on Series X, other than the ghosting effect with the windshield wipers. But i stopped playing the game for a month due to the loss of progression bug. Now that it has been fixed, i have been playing again, but the progression system is so bad, i can't understand how this was validated. The game is also soulless...
Yeah the glitches are weird, some people I know experienced heaps on series x, some experienced none - it definitely seems better now after patches, though the ghosting on the wipers will never be fixed as that's just part of their wonky reflection system. And yup the progression system is terrible
I assume you had all but abandoned this channel but were compelled to make this after FM's calamitous release. Gr8 vid and I hope the view count inspires you to do more. Very entertaining stuff.
Thanks for highlighting the problem & solution. I am a UI & product designer (handling accessibility) & preparing a YT channel (on design & management). I'll keep epilepsy in mind when editing videos.
stumbled across your channel and you’re jokes 😂 great stuff man, also turn 10 can go eat your moldy Xbox refrigerator scran, look how they massacred my boy
Fans and media backlash to the disappointing GT7 launch was loud and even got a rare response from PD. It’s like no one even gives a shit about the Forza Motorsport franchise anymore to really care the same way.
The problem with the lighting is it is a fall back system that they had to use temporarily because of issues with console performance. They are working on the lighting system and will be adding back the one that is supposed to be in game.
Yup lighting has definitely improved since I posted the vid, the game is a lot more stable visually. It's a shame they couldn't have got this sorted over the massive development time pre-release though
@@wimpwilson yeah I've noticed a lot of little things that have gotten better randomly. They definitely stabilized the lighting for the most part and still have not implemented the true system we saw in the preview videos. It can only get better from here. That's what a few of us in a race last night were talking about, they also noticed it seems to be looking better overall and that Turn10 is also working on the color pallet and grading and saturation levels etc. So I'm hoping sometimes between update 4 and 5 might see some of that work implemented...
I wouldn't bother with GamePass if I had an XBox Series X because I like "owning" games, which I know isn't even an option with the new Forza Motorsports thanks to Always Online DRM. Of course, the primary reason that I still don't own an XBox Series X is that they won't add Forza Motorsports 1 through 4 to Backwards Compatibility (even though the original Forza Horizon, which has many of the same licensing issues, is on Backwards Compatibility). Even if the new Forza Motorsports is garbage, I'd be perfectly happy just playing 3 & 4, which still look perfectly good to me, if only XBox would give me an official option (my XBox 360 died in 2022).
Yeah I know what you mean - when I'm really enjoying a game on game pass there is that little niggle saying I don't actually own this. And it would be great if there was an easy way to access the older, superior motorsports, but they want everyone in the new game :(
It was a downgrade in clarity, and controls. I mean the dead stick problem was ridiculous on PC. Better on XSX, but still ran into problems. I went back and played a six year FM7, the game looks better in my opinion (doesn't have the blurry TAA) in clarity while FM8 has more geometric detail. FM7 also controls much better. FM8 or FM was downright unplayable. I uninstalled it within 10 days from console and PC. No inclination to go back. If I had paid $70 for that garbage, I would have requested a refund. Same with Redfall, total garbage, however Starfield was ok, just way overhyped by RDX and Colt Eastwood.
Turn 10 stole 6 years' worth of development budget. Game, project, and art directors should be fired. There's downgrades all over the place. MS paid for reviews.
@wimpwilson9585 Yeah, I'm not sure what in the hell the art/technical directors were thinking. Did they not see back and look at the presentation like, this looks kinda blurry? They bragged about it in one of their technical presentation. When I heard that, I thought TAA would be a problem. Either blurry, or creating ghosting trails are the usual TAA results. This is well known, and FM8 still has shimmering so I'm not sure why this was implemented.
This has literally nothing to do with gamepass, and everything to do with developers lacking talent and passion. The game is extremely bad beyond belief. They wasted 6 years of development on this pos
I agree that Turn 10 has to take some responsibility - they made some foundational decisions that meant this was probably always going to work out poorly
100% agree with everything. Been playing Forza since day 1 of the first game on OG Xbox and this release has absolutely shat all over the franchise. The mainstream response has been positive, when the actual fanbase is left bewildered. Turn 10 are liars (6 years/built from the ground up bullshit) and should be ashamed. I would like Microsoft to comment on this abomination, offer an apology and explain how it's going to be fixed. It's another Xbox exclusive which has been prolapsed out like an unfinished hot turd - much like Halo Infinite was.
I got 5 and a half days played time around 75% achievements unlocked definitely a very fun game to play. I played it on performance RT on release to game pass and did not encounter such issues smooth sailing all way through the campaign.
Yup I've definitely talked to people that didn't encounter the same issues and plenty of others that did - seems like it's been inconsistent, even on the consoles
@@wimpwilson people do like to over exaggerate things though. That's the issue especially when it comes to Xbox first party everyone loves to hate while at the same time continuing to play their games 🤷
Yeah totally agree, I didn't really exaggerate here though, I had really shocking bugs and visual glitches - it's improved quite a bit since I posted the vid, seems a lot more stable overall, they seem to be heading in the right direction
I’ve played every Forza since the first one on the OG Xbox. I’ve jumped ship to GT7 on PS5 and it’s so much better it makes me mad I wasted time on other Forza releases.
I have bought every forza on day one since motorsport 3. This will be the first forza game i dont buy. It's so sad how turn 10 doesnt put as much energy or craftsmanship, if you would, into games anymore
My issue with this game when playing with Game Pass is just how laggy it gets. I have a very good high speed fiber connection, and yesterday it was like the game was locked at 20 FPS. It was very annoying.
"It's visually stunning." - That's what they tell us for so many years now as why we shoulkd buy all the new games. Many of us "boomers" have been saying: "Graphics don't make a good game" for the last decade and longer... I'm happy that more and more people start to realize this, but sad they keep buying everything blindly and pre-ordering...
@@dezpotizmOFheaven They're both boring but saying that Forza Motorsport is visually stunning is a joke. I downloaded Forza Motorsport and on my beast of a PC the game looked like an original Xbox game.
@@Cookedfrfrfr I know what you mean. I got a 4090 and some games just look off these days, and barely reach 60 fps in 4K. Or they torture your system with temps higher than they are in Cyberpunk... Need for Speed Heat and Unbound - if they start and don't crash my whole system - make my R9 7950X peak at 85°C and overall running at 75, while in CP 2077 it's peak usually is at a max of 65.
@@dezpotizmOFheaven Yes it kind of sucks that you're spending so much money on a system for a game just to look like dogshit. Older games on average unironically enough look better than newer games and they even perform better. I mean compare like Arkham Knight or The Witcher 3 to a game like Starfield. There's no competition. When I played Arkham Knight on my PC at max graphics I got like 200+ FPS @1440p and the game looks amazing. In Starfield I struggle to even reach 60 fps at 1080p and the game looks like garbage.
same same. i don't WANT to hate on the new FM23, i WANTED to love it. I love the FM series as a whole, but this game is a sad, buggy mess. HOWEVER, for now, i AM holding out hope that they will continue to support the game, add features, add content, squash bugs, etc, but in its current state it just kinda makes me sad. Until they get it right, i'm going back to AC, ACC, GT7, etc.
Thanks for the watch! I personally much preferred FM7, it felt like a much tighter package with a solid career and I actually prefer the older visuals as well. The track list has more variety and overall it just feels like more effort went into 7 than 8. Basically 8 makes 7 look good
This game feels like it wants to be a simulator, but fails miserably at it by being too arcade... while also failing at being an arcade game for trying to be a simulator. It does not know what it wants to be.
I can't figure out what sucks more. You and your video or Forza Motorsport. That's a tough one. I'd probably give up on making anymore of these though.
@@wimpwilson I really liked the Gt7 video. Always nice to hear some of my own thoughts about a game being put into words by someone else. Always reminds me that my opinions aren’t total dogshit
The game has the same problem, most modern games have. Fanboys that will defend the game with everything they got. People wo still buy this game. A publisher that dosent seem to understand what its playerbase truly wants. Just releasing a game, even if it isn‘t done. I mean, they knew what a mess this game is. And also, we the players who still fall for the same rendering trailers again and again every year…
They are focused on their agenda liberal nonsense. Crazy how most people don't talk about it. The liberal staff and their more than 2 genders thinking should focus on the game. Made from the ground up? More like making up genders from the ground up. Disgusting people targeting sheep and children.
Ive played Forza Motorsport from the very 1st title, when T10 started making Horizon especially around the sequel, Motorsport started becoming horrible, I hate it now.
Yeah unfortunately I think the Horizon games have put this weird pressure on Motorsport to become more and more 'serious' which is staring to just mean boring
It’s weird how for this racing game people gloss over the actual racing in these videos. I honestly could not care less about how ray tracing is being affected by puddles or what ever.
thanks for the feedback - I guess I'm not a racing game expert but have always loved the Forza games for being really good looking, fun experiences, which is what made this one a real disappointment for me personally. I think we all expect that Forza games will always drive pretty well, but the bugs and glitches were pretty overwhelming with this one
Ok. The problems you mentioned have nothing to do with Game Pass. But I'll tell you why the game is still bad because of Game Pass. Many first party games in the Game Pass have the same problem. Especially the Forza series. This includes both Horizon and Motorsport. These games have been completely streamlined for mass appeal in recent years thanks to the Game Pass. And that's where the problem lies. Not in these games means something. Everything is so ordinary. For the simple reason of picking up people who otherwise have nothing to do with racing games. Everything is hopelessly watered down.
If you guys pretend Xbox series X/S is some kind of "4K ray tracing beast", you will be disappointed. A tip to get the best out of the console is to lock it at 1440p and turn off everything in the settings to avoid any upscaling of resolution and shit the developers are trying to destroy the performance with and always set the games on performance mode.
I'd recommend trying some of the older Forzas - I think 6 and 7 are both superior. Unfortunately Microsoft and Turn 10 have made it pretty tricky to find them. The project cars games are your next best bet
Literally all they had to do was re release FM7 with some prettier textures and extra cars and tracks and it would have been better received than this. Fuck even if they just updated FM7 and rebranded it as just FM.
this game felt so soulless its not even funny... no music while driving and in general no "grippy menus or nice music"... i rememder gran turismo on ps2... i might be nostalgic but the music there and the overall theme... it was something special i tried this game half an hour and i will never touch it again because its just i dont know... soulless? many modern games are just shiat... and the industry learned that making nice trailers, pushing people into preordering, making battle royale stuff or something else with mictro transactions is more valuable than making actually good games... this is why consoles suck... i love that you can throw everything at a pc and push it to 4k 60fps and it just looks good... even older games im a huge bethesda fan... and since fallout 4 this company got down the drain... if you like arcade race games too: try grid autosport... looks amazing
except when its raining and its night, the game look just bad. colors are off, low contrast and the image quality is actually quite blurry except when you use DLAA. i guess driving is fine with a controller but its again terrible with a wheel. ACC and iRacing only need two sliders ingame for the wheelsettings and it works the charm. Forza Motorsport has like 20 sliders and nothing you do makes the wheel feel good. I dont expect racing sim "good", but at least something decent enough. i wanted a nice looking singleplayer car collection game and this is just not it. And since i don't own a Playstation i rely on FM to deliver in this area, but GT7 simply mops the floor with this game even though they have themselves their fair share of 'bad'. Sony please bring GT7 to PC finally. The Forza Motorsport series is dead to me and tbh i think it already started with FM5. Entries 6 and 7 improved a bit but the impact of this series is nowhere near the level that FM3 and 4 achieved. What a shame. Wasted dev time and potential.
Yeah totally agree, I mentioned in my GT7 review that Forza has a 'specificity' problem with the visuals - it needs exact conditions to line up to look good ' e.g nighttime and raining - otherwise it just looks flat and washed out. It would be great if GT7 were available on PC so the PC crowd had the option
Hello Wimp Wilson, what do you mean "you get the reverse of the rear view mirror on the track?" I don't understand can you elaborate? Edit : OOOOH I SEE I NOW, it's like the shape of the rear view mirror can be seen on the track, almost like a shadow. Yes yes. I used to mod gta v, and with certain graphic mods you installed, you would also get weird artefacts like that, especially with motion blur or wet surfaces. Yikes that does look stupid
Yeah it's the way they've implemented the screen space reflections - I think a lot of people probably won't notice but it drives me crazy, kind of ruins racing in the cockpit view when it's raining
@@wimpwilson I understand you. I can abstract it, because the base game already looks quite meh. My biggest pet peeve in cockpit view is that the steering wheel doesn't rotate the 900° like in a real car or in other games and that the dudes hands are so stiff. Also in classic forza style, in chase cam, the camera will often not show the full car model when looking back, cuts off the nose of the car, which makes no sense to me. If I drive in chase, I wanna be able to rotate the camera around the whole care and inspect it and so on.
Totally agree, I reviewed GT7 recently and the cockpit driver animations are so much better, the wheel goes all the way round, hand movement is more fluid. Driver and steering wheel animation in Forza seem like they were a bit of an afterthought
The Xbox series x should be 4k 120 FPS mode. The series x was advertised as 4k 120FPS. This game has been a disappointment but its not game passes fault. Its poor development.
FH5 improves on everything of FH4, except for everything gameplay related and the constant technical issues that have plagued it since launch, and the very underwhelming DLC's.
Everyone at turn 10 are all disgruntled employees. There is no love at all with the work they did. Open up GT7 and all you see is meticulous labour of love by comparison
Those are all Xbot Propaganda Microsoft shills... what? you didn't know? Microsoft is funding Forza, no reason why they split and cut off the Xbox One and Xbox One X with this Forza and just leave the new next gen with whatever new effects they have.
Yeah I just disagree unfortunately - I'm really happy that some people are enjoying Forza, I've always loved the series, I just found this one super disappointing
Forza being bad has nothing to do with game pass. It comes down to incompetence and retarded game design choices. When I saw the reveal for the builders cup I knew this game was in trouble. I play Forza games for the career and this was a bad choice. Also Dirt 5 has some nice graphical details but the game sucks. Compare Forza with an all timer like Dirt Rally 2. A game that set standards for graphics, gameplay, and force feedback.
I'm playing on a 3070 ti and ACC still looks and drives better than Forza. It's so sad. At least I didn't have to spend $70 to find out how bad the game is.
I think you're right that it's because of gamepass why Forza wasn't at the quality level it should have been but not because of a Calendar schedule. It's because Xbox isn't making the desired money from XGB subscriptions which is their entire business model for revenue. They've taken a loss from consoles and are now barely selling enough subscriptions. Billions spent on Bethesda and look how Starfield turned out I'm finding all 1st party Xbox titles to be kinda shit and my theory is that they're pulling resources for development in order to save money since they'll be going into Gamepass at release and the projected sales for those titles will be low.
Subscribed! Game Pass sucks though., sad they where so lazy with Forza this time around. I'm not bullish on anything Microsoft, and I think they don't have enough talent to fill the brands they have just accumulated. I think they are stretched thin and the financial pressure is making them take decisions that could lead to a lot of meh and boredom for gamers. Hope I'm wrong but its not looking good so far.
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate your support. I think GP is working out as a great platform for non-first party, I worry about the Microsoft studios though. Halo, Starfield and now Forza have had huge expectations placed on them to serve gamepass and they each feel like they suffered a little in the process

Right? Subscribed like two minutes in. He's got a great delivery style.
I really appreciate the feedback! I'm just talking about what I'm passionate about so I'm really happy people seem to be enjoying it :D Thanks again
Ahh yes, I remember reading my great grandfather's memoir about his adventures playing project cars during WWI.
The game sucks because you can’t upgrade cars without driving them for hours. Still in shock over this decision
Totally agree, the progression system is straight bizarre
It was been fixed@@wimpwilson
You can’t upgrade them without an internet connection
Online only and time-gated content are why I've said "goodbye" to this franchise after being a fan since the first game. And for those reasons, I've been enjoying playing Forza Motorsport 3!
I tried Game-Pass and realized that I'm not going to play 100 games a month or whatever and in the long run, you pay lots of money to end up with nothing. It's glorified rental and I wish they'd stop ruining games for it.
Good video. Also, you might have sold me on Dirt 5.
FM3 with the xbox wheel, those were the days!! FM4 is widely considered the "definitive edition," but FM3 holds a special place - that and PGR...

"They could've used more time-" *no.*
No amount of time can fix bad management and lack of passion, sanitized work culture, greed
I do agree - there were some decision made at the concept level by Turn 10 that probably meant this thing was doomed from the start
@@StarkZaku because most people didn't have the same expectations for Hi-Fi Rush as for the games i mentioned imo...it did great tho👍
@@markvanwalsem3201 then this leads me to this question: would forza 2023 have been a better game if gamepass didnt exist (or it wasnt put on there)?

Yeah I do the same I keep reinstalling in the hope that I will enjoy it and just keep being disappointed again and again
Having GT7 in VR made me lose interest in forza all together and I have bought literally every forza game except this one
I can’t believe you bought a PSVR. I don’t even hear about buying it.
Yeah I've always been a Forza guy but I think GT7 is superior in almost every way
@@wimpwilson, it’s really not at all. But tbh, neither game was great.

I’m sure there’s literally millions of players who feel exactly the same as me. Do better, Turn 10. SIX YEARS and this is what you’ve got?
You've dot pointed my exact feelings on the game :D
Project Cars was so good. the car list, the track list, the vr support was all very well done.
Yup project cars does laps and laps around Forza 2023. Super passionate devs vs tired corporate product
Meanwhile GT7 retained a high playerbase even after a year and half.
I think turn 10 can't fight GT visually and should never do it. They should focus on the driving cause I think Forza Motosport driving mechanics is excellent.
Totally agree, Forza has always had good physics and driving model - can't compete with GT7 visually
@@aaronsmith7143sales and profit does matter to xbox. Sales of consoles? Not so much.

Totally agree about the TAA - I'll take some rougher edges in FM7 to get away from the blurry image quality

There's no competition. When I played Arkham Knight on my PC at max graphics I got like 200+ FPS @1440p and the game looks amazing.
It does not know what it wants to be.

thanks for the feedback - I guess I'm not a racing game expert but have always loved the Forza games for being really good looking, fun experiences, which is what made this one a real disappointment for me personally.
Yup real time ray tracing is proving to not be achievable without a lot of other sacrifices on these machines
I liked Forza but I haven't played a racing sim in ages. I'll give some of the other games mentioned here a try

Agree - I vastly prefer FM7, and I was thinking the same - just make another motorsport but with more powerful hardware, home run. Unfortunately nope
this game felt so soulless its not even funny... no music while driving and in general no "grippy menus or nice music"...
i rememder gran turismo on ps2... i might be nostalgic but the music there and the overall theme... it was something special
i tried this game half an hour and i will never touch it again because its just i dont know... soulless?
many modern games are just shiat... and the industry learned that making nice trailers, pushing people into preordering, making battle royale stuff or something else with mictro transactions is more valuable than making actually good games...
this is why consoles suck... i love that you can throw everything at a pc and push it to 4k 60fps and it just looks good... even older games
im a huge bethesda fan... and since fallout 4 this company got down the drain...
if you like arcade race games too: try grid autosport... looks amazing

except when its raining and its night, the game look just bad. colors are off, low contrast and the image quality is actually quite blurry except when you use DLAA.
i guess driving is fine with a controller but its again terrible with a wheel.
I have the game on steam and i can’t play it anymore because de game is loading shader infinitely, even after re downloading it
Seems like it has lot of problems on PC unfortunately :(
Hello Wimp Wilson, what do you mean "you get the reverse of the rear view mirror on the track?" I don't understand can you elaborate?
@@wimpwilson afterthought is the right way to put it, and that's a shame considering it's supposed to be a racing game ...
The Xbox series x should be 4k 120 FPS mode. The series x was advertised as 4k 120FPS. This game has been a disappointment but its not game passes fault. Its poor development.
Yup agree that T10 needs to take some responsibility on this one, development was obviously a shambles
What, no Nürburgring?! 💀 glad i haven't bought it yet
Yeah the track list is thin as a biscuit at launch
?? I'm loving it, plenty of players and content
FH5 improves on everything of FH4, except for everything gameplay related and the constant technical issues that have plagued it since launch, and the very underwhelming DLC's.
Dirt 5 is made by the developers that made Driveclub.
Everyone at turn 10 are all disgruntled employees. There is no love at all with the work they did. Open up GT7 and all you see is meticulous labour of love by comparison
Totally agree, you should check out my GT7 video, I talk about the night and day difference in attention to detail between these two games
Have you seen IGN, Gamespot, or GamingBolt's videos on the game? They gave it high praise. It even won Best Racing Game at The Game Awards.
Yup no-one should be spending $70 on this, checking it out on Game Pass is the only way
I think you're right that it's because of gamepass why Forza wasn't at the quality level it should have been but not because of a Calendar schedule. It's because Xbox isn't making the desired money from XGB subscriptions which is their entire business model for revenue. They've taken a loss from consoles and are now barely selling enough subscriptions. Billions spent on Bethesda and look how Starfield turned out
I'm finding all 1st party Xbox titles to be kinda shit and my theory is that they're pulling resources for development in order to save money since they'll be going into Gamepass at release and the projected sales for those titles will be low.
How did you miss GT7 in the comparisons lol
Agree, I've got a review of GT7 with some comparisons up now, hope you enjoy :)
very nice video welcome to the commentary world!!
Thank you! I really appreciate the support
Paid $100 played for 2 hours deleted it never played again back on forza 7 till they fix this dumpster fire of a game lol
Yup I much prefer Forza 7
The game may need a update
it has nothing to do with Game Pass Forza is dead because turn 10 made a bad game
How does GP suck?
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate your support. I think GP is working out as a great platform for non-first party, I worry about the Microsoft studios though. Halo, Starfield and now Forza have had huge expectations placed on them to serve gamepass and they each feel like they suffered a little in the process
Need I remind that this game was built from the ground up? Yes you are welcome.
No need to remind anyone really, it's a tired and worn out meme. I'm surprised you used it.
I think with the result I would have taken a slightly tweaked FM7 over what we ended up with
This is not a forza motorsport game it was a horizon game .. thanks forza for fucking up motorsport
Yup I think as the Horizon games became the 'fun' Forzas, we started to lose any fun out of the motorsport side of things
Thet really shouldn't add this game to the gamepass and plus they needed to make this game with more passion and love
Agree, passion and love are the two things that are really badly missing from the game. Compared to GT7 which is overflowing with both
@@wimpwilson yeah it's like they made Forza with unwillingness meanwhile GT7's cars are extremely detailed even when you look it up very closely, amazing. If only GT7 comes to PC...
Seems like it would be a good move for Sony to get it on PC, I can see it happening
