Impressive! The dual overhead cam with dual quads was used a lot in drag racing. Just a thought as to what kind of chassis and body to put it in. I believe they only allowed 1 carburetor in the NASCAR version of this type of engine. If they did allow 2 carbs that would be another option. Keeping the body to the later 60's and 70's would keep it to the period when it was used Thank you for a great video
Everyone is talking cars, meanwhile rc-cigarette-boat is the connaisseur's choice. I still have a 90cm boat that I built with dual electric motors from the ground up 25 years ago. Watching this is really tempting...
I have a Traxxas Bigfoot and I think the Toyan engine would look awesome mounted in that underneath like a real monster truck...and functional would be even better💯
I’ve got the perfect thing to put that in; I bought a rc cooler truck that can bring you drinks and snacks with a remote controller. The thing has crappy power wheels motors and goes slower than molasses in the winter. This thing would be awesome to modify it and get those drinks to the family and myself so much faster! I need to get me one of these and make a modification video!
I love Toyan engines, I have a Toyan 4-cylinder in my 1:8 Traction Hobby Founder. It's awesome. That V8 is a beast. I hope to be able to put a V8 in an RC crawler one day.
that would be sick in the ryft! get rid of the stock trans and battery tray, use transfer case instead, you'd be able to scale install it and still show it off nicely without constantly opening up things for people to see
Hook it up to a lawn mower alternator and jerry rig it with a yeti 100w battery bank to have a gas powered mini generator. Something that would fit in a milk crate (in space) for camping.
@@rcdriver Outstanding! You’ve made my day sir. I will look those up immediately. I assume it comes with some special tools to put it together. @RcDriveOnline ok I am texting you with a question how much would you pay for a used Traxxas summit I am thinking about getting one for a snow plow project by the remote I can tell it's one of the first years so that would put it around 2008-2009-2010 I believe in 2011 or 12 got the newer remote they are asking 240 what's your opinion I know they haven't changed that much and it's still all original battery plugs I don't think the first years had the low voltage shut off for the LiPO batteries
There's a major difference between this and Conley - this is methanol only, and I suspect it's because they couldn't get the carb to atomize the gasoline correctly to reliably operate (especially above idle). Methanol is much more energy dense. However, methanol is very difficult to get without an industry license, and nitro fuel is quite expensive (and has additives I don't want going through a 4-stroke's carb). Pity...
wow i built a v8 model engine in the past, and while 1500$ is a steal, i don't see the point in buying something like this, at least assembled. if you were gonna build it yourself awesome or even assemble it yourself awesome. but damn the first thing i'd have to do is take that thing apart 😆
Thank you for such a great video Greg. I'd wish there was touring car kit, maybe from Tamiya, which had front longtitudal engine location, driveshaft to the rear, solid rear axle and no drive ifs front. This engine, paired with some mustang body on such a chassis would be epic! There is so much diversity in RC cars world, but no one did this very common layout. It could be even modular with frontal motor: 2wd or 4wd, solid rear axle or independed rear axle.
It’s cool for sure but with a $1500-$1700 price tag and not to mention the fab work needed to actually get it to fit in a truck? (Displaying it seems pointless to me) I think I’d just get a RTR Tmaxx and save the rest🥴 (or buy more RC🤣)
Im having throwbacks to Conley! If you only use it as display, or rc it, it needs to be in something. Even a large static model with a running v8 would be pretty cool.
I doubt something with that short of a stroke with those tiny pistons would have any useable amount of torque to move a go-kart or bike without some ridiculous gear ratio.
That is so incredible! If it weren’t almost $1500 I’d grab one and put it in a 5th scale camaro, but I can’t justify that price
I would say only $1500, that would not pay the for the parts is most places let alone the engineering labor and machining costs.
1,500 is actually not bad .look up Conley stinger , or Conley rc engines ,, $ 10,000 fore some !!! Supercharged
I wouldn't waste money on a camero either.
@@ohwell2790nah theres $10 in materials in that entire engine. Its not complicated if you know CAD/CAM.
I was wondering if it could be used as an emergency generator 5hp is 5 Amps and 700 Watts.
I am sure holding it wide open and revving it to the moon on cold starts is super good for the engine...
Destination F'd
It's nitro it's fine.
It doesn't matter...the fuel has oil in it and leaves a film on the cylinder between every start...won't hurt it

Not dohc. Just single cam with pulley to imitate second cam.
NASCAR lol🤣🤣🤣
I think it would be cool in a rat rod that way you could see the big engine and it would be accessible to work on

Totally deserves to be put on a RC car. Can't imagine the type of car/gear ratios/etc that would suit the engine more...
I was wondering how good it would go in a boat if it will go faster a lot of power or what
Would love to hear your input

Personally I would totally throw that in an RC car! That would be super cool to put in a scale muscle car or something!
This is what I thought too. It would be so amazing to see it in a car
JohnnyQ90 here on UA-cam did an insanely nice 1/5 scale RC build with it. Started a build at least. All custom one off stuff.

Please suggest what fuil, oil, and coolant I need to use for this kit?

Really good engine. what type of fuel are using... how many fuel are required to run per hour? i hope you.. can you say?
Hey you should probably hit up Donut Media. They have one of these and never managed to get it running. You could maybe help them out.
Would be a great place in a muscle car RC! Very Cool😀
MINT‼️ except for the fact that it's got the Northstar V8 setup with the starter NIGHTMARE RIGHT THERE 🤣😂🤣😂👍💯👊
😂🤣
Woah! It's up to $1700 for that kit!
I’d love to put that into an RC car, slap a transmission to it and send it
Very nice! I bet it will look cool on a 1/5, 1/6 scale rock bouncer.
It would probably just die. It's a model engine

Now all I have to do is design and build a scale MGB to put it in! :-)
You should build a dirt stock car for it like you see at your local dirt track

Make a scale drifter! And then 3d print parts to make it look like an LS swap
It could look like a coyote 5.0 instead since it DOHC
is it possible to put it into a regular rc truck?
Hello definitely put it in the XTR OR XMAXX OR BABY KRATON
it would be cool to see it in something.
A 4 stroke shouldn't need oil in the fuel?
What engine would go in a trophy truck rc
That will look very cool on a rat rod if it can make it run or just to display the engine

how is this 4 stroke when the fuel and oil are mixed? why are there glow plug on a 4 stroke my this is a diesel engine?

Holding full throttle on a brand new ABC engine. Yep that will be a display piece now LOL !
It wasn’t new. 🤦♂️ It was their display and test engine. It was run a lot before I got it.
Anybody complaining about the price should look up Conley v8 engines and compare the price
I think the coolest thing you could do with that is power a drone with it.
I would love to see one in a boat
I was kinda thinking that too. I have a big Crackerbox that needs an engine.
You wouldn't really need the water tank if you plumb it like a 1:1 speed boat
I think Donut Media needs to get in touch with you.
I put a post in their video with a few possible solutions.
Custom Nitro slash chassis 😎👍
Would put it in a small custom go kart to go to the local store

Why didn't Donut Media check youtube? There are plenty of videos

why does it sound like a 2 stroke ?

Can this be used to power an r/c vehicle?
Yes, people have put other toyan engines into rc cars, i don’t see why this one wouldn’t work
Stick it in a CEN F-450.
Considering this a a mostly a rc channel imagine if he attached one to a rc car
I would put in a RC Airboat to race real boats 😂
Yes please put in something
