    Love how the older generation blames the next generation for the state of things when they were the ones who made it what it is. The older generation made the bed we inherited.

    • @BassholeByNatureFishing
      @BassholeByNatureFishing 16 днів тому

      The thing about inheritance is that you decide what you do with it… We have the opportunity to set a tone in the sport that’s either good for it or bad for it. Right now just because FFS is a thing doesn’t mean it’s gotta be the thing that makes fishing fishing. Just like no metal bats in MLB, or no special fuels in nascar… it’s sad, because it’s causing issue in the profession side of it… for anyone who has ever won a tournament you know almost from the second you wake up something about that day is different, it’s almost like every move is the right move… That feeling and entire experience is soon to die because FFS can pull out. Although FFS has its own techniques you have to learn it’s very finite, but flipping, pitching, punching, casting, skipping, topwater, takes years to master and learn, not just getting the lure in the water but working that lure in right areas, putting it in a 10 inch gap in a lay down!! Skipping it under a dock, knowing to fish left sides of trees instead of the right, reading environment, and water. All that takes years and the least an angler can do is learn how to apply that when FFS isn’t gonna cut it!!! The point he’s making is back in the day if your spots weren’t working you figured it out or at least had the passion and determination to stay and push through the adversity but now if they can’t scope them they just leave!!! That’s what the sport is turning into.

    Anyone that wants to be a pro bass fisherman needs to talk to someone with experience first. Pro bass fishing has contributed to more men losing their house, their job and their wife over a fish they don’t even keep. A very tiny percentage of pro bass fishermen actually live with a very comfortable income. The whole pay to play deal is insane not to mention that benefits or retirement plans do not exist. Several pros have UA-cam channels just to create income that helps when they don’t get a check at a tournament. Pro bass fishing is probably one of the worst ways to make a living. JMO

    Randy, sir, let’s stop lumping kids in one big group that uses FFS. 98% of all kids from 10-25 are beating banks on a pond, maybe a John boat on public beating the bank. A vast majority of young anglers don’t have rigged up bass boats fishing with FFS. You’re seeing young anglers in BASS or MLF using FFS. Maybe local tournaments whatever. But that’s a very very small percentage of young anglers. Kids starting out are watching UA-cam vids to learn how the Carolina rig a worm from the bank. They’re are not using FFS. Young anglers in BASS are very small in numbers. So let’s look at this from that perspective. College teams out there compared to just a kid fishing on Saturday morning are two different groups. The weekend occasion fishermen make up 98% of anglers. Not everyone wants to be a pro angler.

      @wackygoogoo360_2 18 днів тому +3

      I wish he would acknowledge this more. I am 17 and have fished from the bank all the way till I was 12. When I was 12, my family bought a small jon boat that we ended up needing to scrap, and a peddle boat. Seeing as I was unable to use the jon boat, I just decided to fish out of the peddle boat since it was my only way of getting off the bank. I had to have put 100's of hours out on that thing in the period I used it (I have a jon boat now). I learned how to do everything I know on that thing. I mainly fish with 3 baits majority of the year, and those are a bladed jig, drop shots, and jerkbaits (with the occasional small swimbait). I know plenty of other people within my age group who also have similar upbringings into fishing. Most of the kids I know don't have any electronics. Even though i dont have electronics, I still have days (~8 hours) that I catch 60+ fish and can catch a 14 lbs limit (largemouth in michigan) easily on every lake that I have access to, when 12 or 13 pounds win a tournament. Anyways, it just feels unfortunate to be put into the same group of people that don't represent the majority of us.

    We should not expect bass fishing to be any different than any other aspect of modern life which has been taken over by technology. The same generation can't read a map, can't tell east from west, can't follow written instructions (they need a UA-cam video), can't change a tire, etc., etc. I've had some recent experience coaching high school students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) competitions. The lack of analytical thinking or ability to improvise is extremely disturbing. On a micro-level, I share your concern for the implications for bass fishing. On a macro-level, as a country and as a species, we're toast if we have to rely on this generation for anything.

      Technology is not going anywhere period. It's only going to advance and get better that is just the way of life. Medical tech is advancing, cars are advancing etc. Every single person on the planet has said at one time or another well back in my day. That day was yesterday not today or even tomorrow. Everything changes and the new generations have to adapt and make up new ways to advance the sport because we move forward not backwards. People say that it's boring to watch the back of people's heads. Well no shit so is watching somebody blind casting offshore to a rock pile that they think is there. It is the same exact thing. Still looking at someone in the middle of no where. I'd like to thank the gen z whinners that have the back in my day attitude for giving the new generations and absolute shit show of a world to try and live in food thru the roof, housing thru the roof, cost of living thru the roof, car payments etc. I can't wait to complain and say we'll back in my day and have the next generation just roll there eyes as we are now. Matt you are extremely right. I was thinking the same thing. The generation that has it now and the ones that had it before them has wrecked this sport. Who in the world would have though you needed 3 or 4 big screen's tv's attached to a bass boat. And yes this is the generation that has it now. Let alone all these boat company's handing out these $100 THOUSAND DOLLAR boats that all the pros are driving now which has driven the prices to where they are now. They push all these baits also that the average person can't afford or want risk losing so most won't buy them but when a crank bait cost $30.00 bucks is in sane. And what do they do when they loose there sponsor ship they down size and come back to earth where we are. Then we here them complain about how things are. And when they get another sponsor the hole attitude changes again. Just my opinion.

    Here is a little food for thought. I grew up fishing the great lakes and as a kid I would watch in disbelief as people would kill fish they saw as a trash fish. I would watch and as a kid participate in filling coolers full of fish. In the spring people would fill barrels full of spawning smelt for no other reason than they could. To this day I am upset about never having a chance to catch the legendary Blue Pike of lake Erie. Today people enjoy catching those trash fish and have realized there is no need to fill coolers and take more than needed. Spotlighting sucks but I see hope that the younger generation will figure things out

They can’t even answer real fishing questions. The people that think these kids can compete without FFS are delusional. There’s only one way to prove it to people sometimes, you just have to show them unfortunately. They take those graphs off of those boats and tears will be so abundant we’ll drown in them. I know an 11 year old child very well, who had a dream and was able to do it for 3 years. Nothing to do with bass fishing, just looking from another point of view. His parents didn’t come from money and they have worked to try to keep him in this sport. But he couldn’t compete because he didn’t have money to be able to compete with people whose parents had a lot of money. He’s 11 and he made the choice to give it up because he didn’t want his parents spending all their money for his sport and not able to afford his brothers sport, which is cheaper. So keep that in mind that an 11 year old “chose” to give it up instead of being selfish. So he killed his on dream because he didn’t come from money. Sad situation. But no one cares until it happens to their child. But the selflessness is what he was taught BY HIS PARENTS. 😅

Their issue is they either haven’t had enough time to establish themselves and attain money OR they have to fish with a livescope to win money quickly.
    Remember this was all brought to you by the the baby boomer generation. They partied through the 80’s, had the best music, best cars, did the drugs that we can’t do and lived in affordable communities that they could live a good life in. Then they went on to create livescope, market it to us then yell at us for using it.

Garmin has one purpose and one purpose only. Make money. They could just pivot to electronics for the drones that will patrol the lake to keep you off it. Get that garbage off your water. You have to target the very young. Teach them the ethics of the "sport" of "fishing". Teach them that it's not a good idea to just shoot a beam 100' out in front of you so you can see fish, lure, strike, live, in real time. Just to catch a fish? Teach them how lame that is.

    This is a real concern. The more I follow this threat, and it is a threat, the more it becomes obvious is there appears to be a segment of the up and coming anglers who’s sole concern is to get that check, nothing else matters. And what’s concerning, it’s happening right in front of our eyes. Now it’s not the entire segment, and I don’t believe it’s a majority, either, but I think it’s enough to be a concern.
    The example Randy gave is nothing more than a hired gun taking advantage of a sport that a lot of good people built. If we can’t group together and change attitudes of a small segment of the up and comers in bass fishing who demonstrate no respect for the sport, it can get out of hand quick. Live Scope is basically an easy way to cut a check in the easiest, fastest way possible. The easiest way has traditionally not been the best route to take to reach a goal, but hey, that’s just me.

    Professional baseball doesn't need players now! Wee can build robots that can hit a homeowner on every pitch😮! Get rid of the infield, the outfield, and catcher. Just a robot pitcher and batter. Homeowner on every pitch. How exciting and millions in salaries cut. But the stands would be empty and no television audiences!

    Regardless of the sport, people look up to the pros. Until it's outlawed, Pandora's Box is wide open. I love fishing as my primary hobby and I'm not going to compromise it by using a cheater box or supporting tournament organizations that only care about greed.

    For every individual example you give of one dumb "young" guy who "just uses livescope" I can give you 5 who use FFS as part of an overall strategy to catch fish and do extremely well. Also, once again, you seem to be focused solely on tournament fishing as if that were 95% of the people who bass fish. Focusing on recreational fisherman , who actually make up 95% of the 5 million bass fisherman in the US, you'll get a very different viewpoint. Using technology like FFS is extremely important to the ave Joe who can't be on the water 200 days a year, to help them locate bass and have a great day on the water. What FFS may or may not be doing to tournament fishing is quite frankly irrelevant to 95% of us who bass fish.
    In fact the best thing about it is that it's causing so much division and discontent between those who know how to use it and those who don't , that it's helping to push the implosion of tournament fishing which is the best thing that could ever happen for our sport. 👽🦖

    Livescope it supposed to be a learning tool, NOT a way of fishing. I dont owe a boat OR a sonar, but im still certain this will fuck upp competition fishing all over the world, because live scope can on a real bad day give a unimaginable upper hand.
    BUT, relying on livescope wont in any eay make you a fisherman, you are at most a gameplayer. Go to EGames fairs and let us real fishers keep on fishing as it ha been done for ~100yrs.

    Bassmaster elite series as we know it is gone. Period. The true anglers were the ones who didn’t have to rely on FFS, in my opinion. FFS has caused a lot of retirement and a lot of GREAT old school anglers forced out. Again, my opinion. I’m sorry but you can’t incorporate instincts of old school bass fishing with FFS. You have to use one or the other. People can’t even make you tube videos on the water anymore with old school techniques so they resort to FFS, which is “real time fishing”. Bassmaster is going down the drain, fast. Pro fishing will never be the same. But then again, fish a tournament of any kind and you’re considered a “pro” LMAO. Again my opinion.

    You can’t sit there and tell me that these new kids the new generation has to learn what the old fogies have learned over 30 years on what the fish do and not do when in the last five years they’ve been proven wrong due to technology and the fact that almost every prothat I have seen interviewed this year during the tournaments has said this what they thought was completely wrong because of the technology so everything you’re saying contradicts what you’re saying and everybody else is saying

    • @Johnafinn

      Young kids don’t need 30 years to learn what they did. It’s all out there to learn overnight. Wake up bro. It’s called the internet. I can learn how to do anything within minutes by watching a video that took my dad years to learn.
