Great review. I wish they gave us a figure of Tobey as he was in 2002 -- more V-line build and increased muscle mass/definition (obviously he was younger, nothing against Toby circa 2023 heh). That being said, I also hope we get a green goblin as he was in the first movie, chromed out in green with the full face mask. Probably a nonexistent chance at this point but a man can dream.
It's just the weakness of these SH Figuarts figures. They use a sorta generic body mold that's shared by other civilian or anime characters hence this body wasn't custom made for this character. That's why it looks off. Hoping the Marvel Legends gets the build right. The digital renders did look okay

Man this figure is so fun to pose surprisingly more than the new venom release and more comparable to a mafex when it comes to fluidity. But also the engineering in this was amazing! The sliding rocker sock joint for extra bed is such a nice touch for me. I love that he comes with an extra head but also an extra expression face including webbing akin to mafex releases
Still grateful that they made NWH. We all could’ve died in world without seeing Tobey reprise the role again. I still have my toybiz SM2 Lamp trap figure so I’m good.

This sets a standard for the upcoming SHF figures. I’m actually having some hopes and expectations on SHF again!

Not only is it based on the best live-action adaptation of the original comics, that being the Sam Raimi Spidey films (as you can tell that when Raimi himself is a massive Spider-Man fan, he meant it, and it really shows! The first 2 were excellent, nearly flawless adaptations! 3, was not very good, there was just too much going on, leaving it an unfocused mess), but we get an Amazing--pun very much intended--figure that's (almost) entirely articulated, gorgeous paint, and sculpting details, and a great amount of accessories! It would've been nice if the figure came with a younger Tobey Maguire head, and I also wish that the other Maguire (NWH) head had a much better face sculpt as while from a lower-side angle it looks like Maguire Spider-Man, every other angle it just looks really off, and doesn't come off much like the Maguire Spidey. It also would've been cool if the elbow, and ankle joints matched the rest of the body, but that's okay. And it just sucks that the Andrew Garfield face sculpt doesn't exactly look much like the actor (which sadly just continues the mediocrity of The Amazing Spider-Man films especially 2, it's so awful that it makes Spidey 3 look the best of the Raimi films, and Garfield Spidey deserved so much better as he does still capture the spirit of the famous web shooting superhero we all know, and love, while also doing a good New York accent without going over the top. Hopefully, he'll get another chance someday), so now we won't be able to have all 3 Spider-Mans, that being Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland unmasked... :'( Oh, well... Still an excellent figure!

I really wish they’d remake the original Sam raimi Spider-Man figures based on those movies. This one’s alright but it’s based on the new movies with the bad cgi and new design. I’d love the original version from Spider-Man 2, more muscular, silver eyes, and the mask not being botched like how it was in nwh

Maybe I’m just blinded by nostalgia, but something about the torso in particular feels wrong in a way I can’t put my finger on. :( Also, spider-cake 😳 Edit: I was going to say his chest was too flat/smooth, but that didn’t make sense. I think I figured it out, though! He’s missing the subtle muscle definition from the original trilogy!
Good review! I got mine coming soon. Just FYI, the suits in both movies were a mix of CGI and practical. I think the masks were mostly all digital in NWH.

I love this figure! Is it better than the other version? Depends. The thing i hate about this fig like the other three is the leg joints look so weird yet goofy same as the neck. But is it worth the price? I think so just not too overpriced
I hate the wedgie ShF gives to most of their figures. It’s just looks so goofy and there’s plenty of ways they could’ve done to make it blend in well. Gonna wait for a mafex version honestly
