It was the resort, but its illegal to take fruits from private properties. Although our people do it as part of the culture, its frowned upon unless you are a community member or invited to. He wasn't in the "Most Dangerous" areas, he was in the rough market area which is known for petty crimes mostly but it is adjacent to the worst of the worst neighbours when it comes to gang violence and crimes. Violence against tourist is very rare, even when they walk dangerous areas.
He didn't go to the ghetto. He went to coronation market. He would not be able to walk or even drive thru wareika hills, back bush, jungle, rema, cockburn pen, denham town, Tivoli, magregor gully, trench town, casava piece, Waterhouse, August town, mountain view, grants pen, nannyville, mall Rd, backto, and many others in downtown Kingston. Kingston is made up of two parts; Downtown Kingston and Uptown Kingston. Uptown Kingston is where the Rich people live. Downtown Kingston is where you have the poor people and ghettos and is mostly controlled by Dons. Every area in Downtown Kingston is controlled by a Don. A Don is the head of a malitia or gang. They in total control of each specific area and there is certain code people have to live by. I would advise foreigners to stay away from downtown Kingston. Uptown Kingston is great.
@Stewy-xw9fz Very true but I think he'd be alright walking around in the daytime at least. People are scared just don't walk around flossing and you should be fine. People in the Carribean are alot more welcoming than people would think.
Why would someone want to go into a community where there are gang related issues. If downtown Market was as bad as some are saying everyone would be dead. Just don't be flashing values. There are a lot of negative jamaican who have nothing good to say about the country. They would see developments and say there isn't any.
Well i guess it could be considered stealing if she just picked it off the tree especially if that tree was owned by someone you are taking their produce without permission so i guess thats why they told her no.
Trust me it run down he couldn't walk into the lanes because the Dons wouldn't allow him to enter that's how dangers it is actually in Downtown Kingston. He walked where the venders sell in the street, market & the park relatively safe areas. To be honest my people treat tourist better than how they treat each other. We at war with ourselves really because of the situation. I still love my country.
They are alot of building Downtown Kingston that have alot bullet holes in them from years of gun violence between gangs vs gangs, gangs vs polices & gangs vs soldiers.
