  • On 13 December 2021 two steam workings occupied London Victoria together when a private charter on the Surrey hills circuit (operated by 'Saphos Trains'), headed by Bulleid pacific 34046 'Braunton', used platform 2, while the return leg of the first 'Santa Steam Express' arrived at platform 7, headed by Thompson B1 61306 'Mayflower'.
'Braunton' then departed, unassisted by the idling class 47 and was reduced to a crawl by the top of the 1 in 70 Grosvenor Bank, with the steam sanders on. 33207 followed with the next run of the 'Santa Steam Express', also unassisted, with the equivalent of 14 coaches in tow! It has subsequently emerged that 47802 was rostered as the diesel, but had failed and was unable to get to Southall in time for the morning's ECS.
Finally, 'Braunton' is seen working hard up Gomshall bank on its Surrey hills trip.
