Dear Tom, I use a mix of chord tones, approach notes, arpeggios and scales. Possible scales are: Intro - Dm7 G13 = dorian mixolydian in the key of C; A section - Dmaj7 = ionian, Bb°7 = whole tone half tone scale, Am7 = dorian, D7b9 = HM5, Gmaj7 = ionian, Gm6 = melodic minor, F#13 = mixo b9, F#7+ = altered, B9 = mixolydian, B7b9 = HM5, Bm7 = dorian, E7 = mixolydian, Bb9 = mixo #11, A7 = mixo, Dm7 = dorian, G13 = mixo; B section - Gm7 = dorian, C9 = mixo, Fmaj7 = ionian, Fm7 = dorian, Bb9 = mixo, Ebmaj7 = ionian, A7b9 = HM5, altered or mixo b9.
