good questions. you can cut a cord to a person you love and gave a healthier relationship after if you unconsciously do not reattach the cord. cut the cord then focus on developing you your boundaries and self love.

I had a best friend who became a narcissist and she cut me out of her life as she was pregnant. She was very judgy of me and my mom life. I really wanted to get to know her as a mom and see how she’s grown as a person because we had such a great history and so many joyful times. I’ve grown a lot too but for some reason I can’t get this girl out of my head and wanting to be her friend again even though I know she caused me lots of pain. Maybe we’ve both grown more mature and our friendship could work or maybe she’s still a narcissist. Maybe I need to cut the cord there. I had a friend at work which was an older lady and we always got along great. Well, I was young and got pregnant with my second child and started to get a few hot flashes which I didn't have with my first child. That lady's and my friendship got very strained on my part. She was on my nerves so bad and I tried to tell myself it was ridiculous of me but it grew WORSE. I couldn't stand being around her. Eventually I went on leave and had my child and when resuming work after a time our friendship grew even better. I think my hormones turned me into a b....!

Getting to the point of consciously willing... I'm afraid there could never be "one day" if I cut that cord and it's only bad because how we started. A new start would fix things and afraid we could never get that new start if I cut the cord.

Sonia, is it possible to cut the chords even if that toxic person lives with you? My son who has mental health problems, he takes drugs and at times is aggressive and verbally abusive towards me. I deal with it in the best way I can. I’m wanting to cut the chord of always wanting it to be different. It feels quite hard as he’s my son but I feel I’m gradually getting there.
