Thanks for the information, especially in regards to the R11 not being suitable for rooms my size but they would have REALLY stretched my budget anyway and wouldn't allow me to purchase a centre and sub had I spent so much on the main.
The previous R series was a great value for their performance, and the new R Meta seems like a step even closer to their Reference Meta line. They also look beautiful.
The imaging on the uniq drivers are absolutely insane. I use a pair of LSX’s in my tv room and they literally envelope you in the music. You’d be hard pressed to think that whatever is playing is from just 2 speakers.
KEF is such a great speaker company. They are always on the cutting edge of design and there have been a lot of copycats out there over the years trying to keep up.
Excellent overview, I really love how easy KEF is to build a system around. That Uni-Q driver has always been tough to beat at comparable price points.

Let me chime in and this dude say home theater receiver. I demoed these for about three hours. They dip down to 2.9 Ohms If you put this on a main stream receiver, its going to kill it. I had these playing on a two amps one cost 5500 the other 10K and we had to push those. Kef make a fantastic speaker for the cost. But look at you electronic, pairing is critical. Good stuff though :)
They share a lot of the same tech, but if you connect them up to great gear in a room either has good sonic character or treated to be that way, the Reference will be more resolving. But these new R Meta models are very very good for the money. Thanks for watching

I am trying to get a sense as to how close these are in sound to the Reference Series which is out of my budget but sounds amazing to me--I listened to the Reference bookshelves at Audio Advice and they were amazing but just out of my budget. Are these really close in capability?
Very nice video and information on the new Kef line. In regards to the reference 1 meta, can you take a second to explain to me which base port, long or short, is more correct to the music? I know one, the long, goes lower in the range with some overhang, but the short one is more tight/dynamic and has greater punch. So which one is more accurate to the music?
Great question. It will come down to your room and where they are placed. In a larger room with them away from the walls, the longer one might be preferable. Just try each way with your placement and use the one you prefer. Thanks for watching
Last year I purchased the R3 on a steal of a deal for 1300 pair... I love the clean sound and wide sound stage. Did I jump the gun? Should I look to upgrade?

Please help just need an idea
Genelec makes great speakers too, but KEF does have the most engineering time spent on this type of driver. The concept is very sound for great reproduction
No one does resonance’s better than Q’Acoustics. They have mastered that with their gel material. These speakers are nice but are going to be hard to drive.
All speakers have "limited horizontal dispersion". D'Appolito designs are no more limited than any other, and D'Appolito confgurations are not exclusively 3-way, it was originally a 2-way design. Also, MTM designs are not any more vulnerable to lobing than other approaches, and in fact there really isn't any reason to pursue MTM other than to address lobing problems. An MTM design that has lobing is a failure.
Let’s the measurements before you say that they will be better than the previous series. The LS 50 meta definitely was with out EQ but with EQ. one can bring the original to the same level as the meta
Yes, EQ is normally a benefit, but there is something to be said about how the Meta material absorbs the back wave and what impact that physically has on the tweeter. Thanks for watching
Tech, tech, tech....descriptive words about the Ref. 1 Meta: like wide dispersion; dry, thin sounding and power hogs....what good is dispersion if the speakers are fatiguing? I found the earlier version at audio shows to be fatiguing and anonymous sounding (no personality). From what I have read the reviewers are all jazzed up about technology and build quality, but there is precious little about how they sound. You can get much more for much less from other makers.
Speakers are definetly personal taste, but we would not say these are fatiguing at all. In fact, the opposite, they are very easy to listen to. You might want to check out the latest versions as the Uni-Q is on its 12 revision. Thanks for watching
@@AudioAdvice Thanks for your reply. I am going to the NYC and Cap. Audio shows, maybe I will be able to hear these and the Uni-Q. I would say that my analogue jazz and classical tastes like a non-forward, non-aggressive sounding speaker.
