Good, maybe, but it doesn't fit the aesthetic established by literally every other series. Even if you add some texture mapping, you cannot get away from the fact that the TOS model designed by Matt Jeffries is very plain, with very few scale references (Jeffries himself was never satisfied with the TOS model and wanted to refit the Enterprise with different nacelles in season 2, but the budget was not present to do so; the aesthetics of his desired new nacelles went to the Klingon D-7 and were eventually "refitted" to the original ship via the Phase II model and eventually Andrew Probert's movie refit). I still think, five years later, that the redesign that John Eaves made for Discovery does a really good job of squaring the TOS design with the TMP design and making the refit more plausible as a refit and not building a new starship around the minimal remaining structural members of the old.
Would some one please explain to me why this wouldn't work? It's an awesome interpretation of the original design without changing it so drastically. Its a thing of beauty!
Nice. I love seeing the TOS E with modern effects. Only nit-pick is (As others have also said, the pylons shoudn't glow. The grills on the pylons are vents. Anything on the nacelle itself is open to interpretation, but yeah, not the pylons. I do like the glow in the defector dish rings (Personally I'd do an amber glow to complement the copper color) Nice work.
Nice. Some ideas to "detail it up" but still be "TV screen accurate": - phaser nipples where the TMP refit has them but no hazard colouring* - RCS thrusters but no hazard colouring* - shield grid, if you want to go crazy each shield "grid" module could be like a rice grain that are laid down ends to end; they would have their own little heat sinks around them too since absorbing all that energy adds a lot of heat - window frame, depth and interior details; remember windows have seams, multiple layers, etc. - photon torpedo tubes on the underside of the saucer; the original Connie was meant to "look" peaceful, so it might have torpedo doors that close. - life boat detailing ... so many life boats - mooring points for docking and docking collars - framing and support for the glass domes something like tie-fighter windows - plate detailing instead of "aztecking"** * I figure the lack of this was that the Constitution class was made more for aesthetics than anything. It was meant to be the jewel of the fleet, form over function. When they refit it it was more into the utilitarian age and ships got more specialized with the Miranda, Oberth and Excelsior classes breaking up what the Constitution tried doing on its own. ** aztecing like greebling was just a cheap way to imply detail, in reality we'd have plate sections that should be roughly equally sized that could be removed and replaced relatively easily. They could "jigsaw" to make the same aztec pattern, but would need seems and bolts and should leave clear gaps for the shield grid. Basically, think like you're building a skyscraper. Where is the frame, how does the superstructure attach, how does hull plate attach, etc. A note on the warp effect, only the interior grille should blow-out blue. These engines were far, far lower power than in the TNG and there was a lot more delay getting in and out of warp speed (pseudo acceleration).
I definitely agree on needing interior detailing for the windows. I get that special effects in decades gone by really didn’t allow for seeing into the windows of a spaceship, but that’s very doable now. Also, agree on the RCS thrusters. We never ever see maneuvering thrusters in use on these CGI spaceships, just spaceships gracefully dodging, rocking, and diving through space with just their main engines propelling them forward.
Very good! The nacelle fan blades are so far proving near impossible to recreate exactly how they appeared on television so many years ago. What I think is the issue is that the original spinning blade effect was achieved by the stroboscopic effect created by the camera shutter opening and closing as the striped dome spins at high speed. The effect is similar to how propeller blades appear on motion picture film. The individual blades are visible as ghostly shimmering blades that have no defined edges and appear to be turning much slower than they really are.
Het Brian, I enjoy and LIKE'd and have shared your video(s) and decided to Subscribe to your channel. I am an artist myself and I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Very nice. I have 2 constructive nitpicks. The glowing pylons and the sound of a racing car each time the big E does a pass. Beautiful looking ship though!
I like this version of the Original Series Enterprise. I wish they would upgrade the Special Effects of the Original Series Once Again to Upgrade the Original Enterprise up to Today's Standards. I like the way the inboard grilles on the Main Engines all Light Up. But, I always felt the Grilles on the Main Struts that support the Same Warp Engines should be made to each Light Up with a Red Illumination . The Main Power in the Secondary Hull Engine Room Glowed with a Red Illumination in the Original Series. This Red Illumination should be added under the Grilles under the Main Struts that are both holding up the Warp Engines which after the Power is diverted to the Warp Drive and gets turned into the " Blue Light Warp Energy which powers the Ship.
Thanks for the kind words! I love seeing all new starships, but I have an affinity for the classics. I'll also never reproduce a scene exactly. Yes it's technically amazing, but I love seeing new and different.
Not true. Plenty of lights off, check the side of the hull at 12 seconds, and again at 36 seconds. could more be off? absolutely. But dont say "every", say "too many".
The 60fps made it look closer to video game 3d, than cinematic. Looks cool, almost like a slight redesign. I had to drop the res down to 480p to get it back into 30 but it almost looks better in 30.
I know others have said this, but the Pylons shouldn't have glowed. In fact, only part of the engine that should glow are the manifolds on the interior side of the nacelles themselves. Everything else....
And while that is true, it's also science fiction and can be interpreted by the artist. I agree the pylon attempt was a fail, see my much improved 2nd attempt.
This proves that the TOS Enterprise can look good even in the 2020s.
It was only outclassed by the refit model of the original movies, everything after that isn’t even worth mentioning.
A timeless design.

I think that was proved with the USS New Jersey
“A ship is a ship.” Whoever said she didn’t look good? You just have to film it from the right angles. But yeah the Constitution-Refit is superior.
Would some one please explain to me why this wouldn't work? It's an awesome interpretation of the original design without changing it so drastically. Its a thing of beauty!
Thank you! I agree, no need to drastically change things

Thanks! Yeah my pylon reinterpretation was a fail to be sure. I totally agree with everyone on that. I'll be changing that in future videos
@@brianlemley4260 If it helps, I interpreted it as reflection from the inner panels on the warp engine nacelles..
@@brianlemley4260 Oh, heck. I just like it. We can invent some reason for the glow, that's what writers are for 🙂
She was the future of science fiction and such things age gracefully, she's still a beauty.
Beautiful. If only we saw it jump to warp like that in the series.
love that you kept the classic nacells.. beautiful work.

You are completely right! I have been working on those damn nacelles for so long trying to get them right and still haven't.
well done. the details on main hull much better. But I have to agree, the pylons don't light up.
I love it!! The more lights the better!

Thank you!
Love the Titan theme along with the cinematic shots. Well done!
I love the blue glow from the deflector mount. Can we get an amber glow when she's running at impulse too ? 🙏
She looks great. I’m colorblind, have the Port and Starboard strobe lights always been Red and Green, respectively?
Stunning model, ty🖖

Thank you so much! Your work is amazing, I appreciate you watching this!
You're welcome and thank you for your kind words in regards to my work. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Have an amazing day and take care.
Nice and smartly done. 🤩
I agree, I think getting back to basics and stopping retconning everything would be beneficial. Everything old will be new again!

Nice except for the nacelle pylons lighting up as well was a bit much!
I was worried it might be, I'll work on a version without it.
That was a nice touch.
@@brianlemley4260 Spotlights pointing up along the outer side of the pylons would be better. looks great!
That's the coolest part!!
Thats awesome 🙂

loose the titan theme
I didn't want to just use another OG theme
@@brianlemley4260 Agreed.
That was one of the best parts? What do you mean?
I'm sorry, but the SNW enterprise is the shiznitz.
...idk I just can't take it seriously. It looks like a toy.
TOS design is too simple and schematic for cinema
Fake
Wrong music. That music is from the failure movies 2009 +. Movies so bad they buried the franchise!
Music is choice, doesn't have to be identical. If it was, it would literally be the TV show, so I've already seen that.
