    Nice one, it was difficult to me to keep the original tempo with my left foot but I'm getting there. Thanks for sharing!

    i follow countless music pages and this may have just completely cleared up polyrhythms for me…. however i must know, does this accent rule apply across all polyrhythms? for example can i view 7:4 or some more crazy shit as septuplets with every 4th accented? i mean yea its so simple but y do no other ppl teach it this way… guess i need a drummer more than i already thought i did

      So is the polyrhythm. 5 pulses fit evenly within the same space 4 occupy. Landing on the one together.

      I agree..Caribbean salsa though.Not much Mexican salsa. The rhythm is actually kinda like a song called 🎶Siempre Alegre🎶 by Ralph Leavitt

    Great video am I right In saying you’re playing 5 quarter notes in 5/4 in your left hand and only 1 whole note in 4/4 in your right hand ?

    Hey idk if you specifically would answer this but if anyone can then it'd be much appreciated! I'm currently in the process of writing a song with a 4:19 polyrhytm but I'm not sure if it should be 4 bars of 19 beats or 19 bars of 4 beats! Any help would be appreciated!

    • @Thedrummersalmanac
      @Thedrummersalmanac  Місяць тому +1

      How many bars doesn’t matter so much… what matters with a 4:19 polyrhythm are what two not values you will use in that ratio over those bars. Once you establish that, then how many bars you use is up to you.

  • @lucesfuxia4715

    I think the person question is talking about the time signature 5/4 not the polirythm

    • @Thedrummersalmanac
      @Thedrummersalmanac  11 місяців тому

      No… he wrote it wrong as 5/4… but in the context of the comment he left that one a 5:4 polyrhythm video.

      That’s why typical rock people don’t like jazz because they avoid 4/4 like the plague and some stuff sound so outside the box it’s doesn’t have much of a musical context and become dissonance just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. It’s another way to create tension and release for the listener by playing unfamiliar rhythms between familiar ones. But the golden rule still remains. Play what your ears want to hear.

      That’s a good way to hear the relationship… and it’s easy if there is no external time context to worry about… but when you add time underneath, it’s a whole different thing.
