I bought a brand new one 2 months ago, and have ridden it for 1000km. It is a superb bike to ride, and is engineered to a standard that Triumph cannot match. It has a locking filler cap, alloy rims, easy to remove seat, twin clocks, centre stand, all as standard, rather than expensive extras as on the Triumph. It also has a very clever system for doing the valve clearances, which means you don't need to remove the camshafts like you do on a Triumph. Mine is getting 70mpg as well! And of course, it has that wonderful bevel drive. No contest!
A Japanese bike, in England, on German plates..... Truly Kawasaki has gone international with this one. Looks like they've succeeded. Triumph should be afraid.
@Grvthang Not for 2012 (at least not yet). Hound Kawasaki with requests to bring it here and they might do it! If there's a motorcycle show near you this winter, make sure you attend and tell Kawasaki's reps. this!
I own two of the W650s and am dying for the extra kick this extra hp will provide..... Hello out there, the powers that be, there's a line of people waiting for it's arrival!!!
it's not a Triumph, it's based more on the BSA. I have a 2006, t100 Bonne and find the w650 I have is more fun. It will be even better when the w800 hits the states, then, no contest, although it all depends on driving style and positioning, etc. Different strokes for different folks when it comes to motorcycles, for sure. It's all good.
The W800 is a great move for Kawasaki, along with the ZX-250r ninja. They're not heaping all their eggs in the one basket with just High-Perform sport bikes.
I too was disappointed by the sound. The w650 sound awesome. Is it just the pipes on this one (although stock on the older models sound sweet?) or does the maker of this promo really not understand the importance of the bike's sound?
Excellent! Wonderful!! I love this kind of motorcycles. I've a new Triumph Bonneville T100. I'd like very much they bring it to my country, Argentina. But I don't believe in fairy tales.
@dctim Triump is still sweet, I must admit this Kawasaki did impress me though. There is a bike for every genre and this Kiwi will do well. I think the times of only the kool bikes are Vtwins is over and it's all about knees in the breeze. If I trade in my Triumph do I get a fine chick like that?
I love this ! I ride a Harley but I love all companies I just hate the million Harley clones out there I wouldnt be cought dead on a Kawasaki that looked like a Harley but I would ride the wheels off of this beautiful throw back to the cafe racers of old! Bravo on such a great bike Id give it ten thumbs up if they let me!
batfastard95 no it's not a triumph. but most people who've ridden one will tell you that it's better than a triumph. better built, better designed, better attention to details. sorry to break your heart. get on one and you'll see for yourself.
TheGonzaPoker Actually, no. I'm a triumph fan. I love the old British bikes and their history. That is the problem that you, I, and many passionate fans have. We are biased towards those bikes and put on blinders. I've read many places where the build quality AND reliability are much better on the w800. So if those are your main concerns you'd have to go check out the w800. Me, I think it would be hard to pass on the triumph even knowing it's limitations.
Looks nice but the Guzzi V7C sounds a hell of a lot fruitier than that sewing machine sound, shame as would probably have one over the Bonneville, ah well, I will stick to my Guzzi :)
I disagree, I drove both. The sound of the Guzzi engine - rattling valve sticks (as in Chinese 125cc), effectively put me off. Moreover, the OHV timing is a thing of the past.
I liked the look at it in the shop and was thinking about a test ride - until I saw this add and thought, "Would I be a pretentious pratt like the guy in this video too if I bought one?"
@BringItOnYFD that would be great I'm sure, but then I think Kawasaki might miss their target audiance. Still, I would prefer to watch a good looking girl ride the bike than that guy.
This is nonsense. Reviewers carry on about build quality - the headlight is plastic and mine melted! I bought the expecting quality and its had 3 warranty claims in 3 months and no end to problems in sight. The dealers are basically dishonest and its fight all the way to get things fixed. Tried complaining to Kawasaki and got nowhere. The W800 is just rubbish and the reviewers who rave about it's build quality just make fools of themselves and us. Buy the Bonneville at least you get the name.
Kawasaki! Notice this! watch?v=dkyS43BtSSg Stop making this bland triumph rip off, and start making some bad ass flat tracker or cafe style motos! This promotional video is painfully generic, and so is this bike. There is no story, no context, no culture. Just a douche in black set to some generic guitar riffs. Get real Kawa! Find out what we really want. It is not this. ALSO WHERE IS THE KICK START?! At least it will be a decent platform for modification. God bless LSL.
hahahahaha!!! Sound: " Wrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"!!! "Wrrrrriiiiiirrrr-wrrrrrrriiiiirrrr"! Sounds like Crap, Brake and Fork is bad, and the building Quality is bad ( grey Paint ON the Chrome of the Exhaust..... It sucks!!! Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrr!!! ;-))
@BringItOnYFD that would be great I'm sure, but hen I think Kawasaki might miss their target audiance. Still, I would prefer to watch a good looking girl ride the bike than that guy.

TheMickvee I agree totally agree. It is more "english" than Triumph and for sure made in a better way
Es simplemente preciosa, bravo por kawasaki!!

My Dad just brought one, beautiful bikes!!
This is the most American commercial not to come from America
Elle est magnifique ! :O
A Japanese bike, in England, on German plates..... Truly Kawasaki has gone international with this one. Looks like they've succeeded. Triumph should be afraid.
@Geokouu actually there was a 250cc bike that was similar to this one, the Estrella
@Grvthang Not for 2012 (at least not yet). Hound Kawasaki with requests to bring it here and they might do it! If there's a motorcycle show near you this winter, make sure you attend and tell Kawasaki's reps. this!
ooooofff, definitley getting this bike one day!
Does anyone know the brand and/or model of the helmet ?
They are perfectly fitting this beautiful moto!
DAVIDA
thanks
this is Just Awsome !!!! Great Video & Great Bike !!!!!!!!
The Fott commercial did much better than any Kawa video for W650 sales !
Needs an exhaust which shows off the parallel twin engine note. Motad soon bringing out a new system i believe.
I own two of the W650s and am dying for the extra kick this extra hp will provide..... Hello out there, the powers that be, there's a line of people waiting for it's arrival!!!
Just for the record, the W800 has exactly the same horsepower output as the W650. The ECE emissions controls robs it of power.
Wow superb bike 😍😍❤️❤️

What's the helmet brand? vous connaissez ce casque?
Where is the sound? It sounds like a electric bike.. Is it just the movie or does it really sound like that?
Sweeeeeeet engine start sound!!
The W800 is a great move for Kawasaki, along with the ZX-250r ninja. They're not heaping all their eggs in the one basket with just High-Perform sport bikes.
Man, is this coming to the US anytime?
I too was disappointed by the sound. The w650 sound awesome. Is it just the pipes on this one (although stock on the older models sound sweet?) or does the maker of this promo really not understand the importance of the bike's sound?
@wbstr8934 Forgive my ignorance, but what is "PS"?
Excellent! Wonderful!! I love this kind of motorcycles. I've a new Triumph Bonneville T100. I'd like very much they bring it to my country, Argentina. But I don't believe in fairy tales.
Bonneville and W800 - do you want Thai, or Japanese?
@dctim Triump is still sweet, I must admit this Kawasaki did impress me though. There is a bike for every genre and this Kiwi will do well. I think the times of only the kool bikes are Vtwins is over and it's all about knees in the breeze. If I trade in my Triumph do I get a fine chick like that?

So you'll be caught dead on a kawasaki that looks like a triumph instead
1:36 say goodbye to that bike...
Would it help me get that girl? Anyone know that model btw?
retrò e bello.....mi piace...
BSA - Meguro W800 - Triumph bonneville 3-0 😉
Who like Led Zeppelin or Free, than will be in love Kawasaki Dablju ! :)
Bring it to North America, make it substantially cheaper than a Bonnie, and I'm sold!
This is the model they should have sent to the US. They are sending the cafe model.
GOD IT'S BEUTYFUL!
BRING THIS BIKE TO THE U.S.! please. :)
We don't have this in the US. 😒
Lucky you we do now.
drum brakes, oh man! where do i sign!
Like a BSA

This Kawa is better than bonneville...sorry for my english...
Kawa portraying the bike as if it was british
I liked the look at it in the shop and was thinking about a test ride - until I saw this add and thought, "Would I be a pretentious pratt like the guy in this video too if I bought one?"
I had a W650 and it was great. The W800 is nothing but trouble. It's rubbish.
Nice bike and all but I don't believe that anyone rides round London like that! I didn't see one white van try and kill them WTF?
until the plastic headlamp melts (they do that)
seko
kawasaki stop mucking about and bring us the zrx daeg!
love this bike but would never buy it!!!! 30hp??? come on what a joke!!!!
@BringItOnYFD that would be great I'm sure, but then I think Kawasaki might miss their target audiance. Still, I would prefer to watch a good looking girl ride the bike than that guy.
@TRXruss Lol :D I am a girl and I will sit there where that guy is sitting and take over the show-off part :D

Geez, buy a Triumph and get the real thing.
Trying to sell us the lifestyle they *think* we want. The Millenial hipster wannabes, however, might fall for it. In that case, well done Kawasaki!
You bet. I'm 54 and retired and my GF is 22. I buy a brand new W800 every year so I get the latest trim. Just fabulous !
@BringItOnYFD that would be great I'm sure, but hen I think Kawasaki might miss their target audiance. Still, I would prefer to watch a good looking girl ride the bike than that guy.
