Lobster rolls are either Mayo (cold) or butter (hot). A hot buttered lobster roll is incredible. That said, johnnyjig rod & reel combos helped us crush tuna this year off of block!

Man we live for this!! And That is definitely something to consider. We do have some wider style jigs, our torpedo glider being one of them but I don’t think we brought any of those with us on this trip. Thankfully the sand eel did its job.

@@JohnnyJigsTV thank you for the reply. That means a lot. You guys come to Key West often. I live close to Stock Island. Hit me up if you have time, the next time you venture out on the Yankee Capt. I’ll draw out a quick sketch. Maybe it will work. As for myself and tuna. Growing up here in KW we didn’t see much more than the good ole Blackfin tuna. Yellowfins are few and far between. As for Bluefin, it’s even harder. But I do have a few Yellowfin & Bluefin stories to share from these parts when we do cross paths. My biggest Blackfin on hook or by spear are as about as big as they get. I did shoot a Yellowfin on the Midnight Lump off Louisiana, prob 130#. It ripped-off my spear shaft about 30ft from me. Completely broke me heart. Thanks for reminding me ;) lol. But please reach out when you are here again. You guys turned me on to Slow-Pitch jigging and I love it.

Even though the conventionals take up a lot of line per crank I don't think they can compete with a spinner at ripping a lure thru the water. That long handle is great for torque but not speed. When you say conventional do you mean a 50W or an overhead jigging setup? I think a solid overhead jigging setup is still plenty light

@kylewebster148 there still conventional reels. Yes, they are cumbersome. In my opinion. I've used both. You are fighting the awkwardness of keeping the reel in the up position. No my thing.

@@miketorre16 agree to disagree. I see more and more people opting for overhead conventional reels for jigging, have not felt that way fishing both an Ocea Jigger 4000 and Saltiga 55 for bluefin

@kylewebster148 I agree.. I see a lot of ppl using them for jigging and regular fishing too.... for me, it's awkward, balancing a 30+ oz reel upright... and I don't see any added benefits.
The same with baitcasters, you have to slightly hold your thumb on the line so you dont get backlash. And adjust the tension depending on the lure weight. All that for what purpose??
