I am enjoying watching this series again with people who actually are Korean and know the culture. I love how you point out specific things in the English subtitles for those of us who are not familiar with the Korean culture. It has definitely been worth the rewatch with that added information and I love your reactions! 👍

@@khaled00962 I dont think they watched the show before, I have the same prediction when watching this, Stones are obvious, its obvious the girl would sacrifice herself, I even sense that player #1 is suspicious since episode 1. (if u already watched many other mystery movies) All of their predictions are normal, If they didnt predict at all and just react and react, then that would be possibly a scripted reaction.

I lived in Korea for 4 years, and can't remember a Korean crying once.
This episode has probably my favorite scene in the series with 67 and 240. It broke my heart every time 240 brought up going to Jeju Island together when they both got out of the game.
Have seen 20+ reactions of this episode till now on youtube, this is the very first reaction where forget crying, I didn't even see teary eyes in the most saddest 199 and 240 death scenes of the episode.

Everyone is desperate for their lives so you can not just judge Sang-woo and not Gi-hun. It's the survival instinct.
In all fairness, Il-nam is dying of a brain tumor and has lived a long life. Ali is young, trusting, and has a family. It's a lot easier to judge Sang-woo who is a fraud and a cheat who put his own mother's home and shop up for collateral while scamming people out of their money while Gi-hun has a gambling addiction that happened because he witnessed a co-worker get murdered in front of him because they were protesting being unfairly fired from the jobs they'd held for years.

After the Korean War, many Koreans learned English through the US military. Americans called small jazz bands Combo Band (깜보밴드). The meaning of 'combo ' has been expanded, so if a small group of people are on the same team, it's called 'combo'. Koreans who did not know the etymology pronounced 'ggombo' as 'cambo' or 'gganbu'. Long ago, even there were many English names for dog in Korea. 쭁(John) 매리( mary) 도꾸(dog).. lol~~

영어로 고정시켜놓으신 글을 보니까 제가 느낀거랑 비슷하게 느낀분이 많은것 같네요~ 전 9화 까지 다 본 다음에 두분의 반응 영상을 봤는데요, 1편 영상에서부터 장면 장면보면서 두 분이 "이럴거야, 저럴거야"라고 지나가듯 던지는 말을 들으면 갑자기 뜨끔뜨끔, 마치 내 비밀을 다 알고 있는듯이 어떻게 처음부터 저런걸 다 예상하지? 하고 생각했었거든요~~ 정말 두분이 드라마, 영화를 정말 정말 많이 봐서 예측을 잘하시는건지, 아니면 원래부터 추리력이 뛰어나신건지 둘 중 하나겠죠? 어떤 장면에서 무슨 말을 했는지 여기에 쓰는게 다 스포일러가 될정도로 잘 맞추셔서 시나리오 작가가 보면 허무할거 같더라구요. 인물설정이며 곧 이어 이어질 이야기 예측이며 거의 결말부에 나올 상황까지 이야기하시는데 정말 놀랐습니다.

두분의 심미안 기준은 동양보다는 서양에 가까우신것 같네요
저도 전부터 막연히 알고는 있었지만 서양인과 동양인의 예쁘다 기준은 좀 다릅니다
사람마다 취향의 차이는 있겠지만 일반적인 동양남자가 예쁘다고 생각하는 기준에선 새벽을 연기한 정호연 배우와 알렉산드라님 두분중 더 미인을 고르라고 한다면 십중팔구는 알렉산드라님을 더 미인이라고 대답할거에요
솔직히 말해 서양인 기준에선 정호연씨를 미인이라고 생각할지 모르지만 동양인 기준에선 정호연씨를 전형적인 미인이라고는 생각하지 않거든요

Interesting when I come across reactors who predict at least 75% of what's going to happen or what any character is going to say or do, where most anyone else doesn't. At the same time, it seems like they're on the brink of yawning through most of it. Any reaction they do have I would be surprised that they have one at all. Nothing is a surprise here afterall.

If I were in that situation, I would have done it like Sangwoo
Sang-Woo has exhausted all options: fairplay, intimidation, begging. Before resorting to cheating.
Most of the people who turned to be Sang-Woo's couch-"haters" would sell Ali's ass without any shyness and way easier if they were in Sang-Woo's shoes, believe me.

Right before that we see someone like ji yeong, who could’ve also argued etc, but she gave to loss “because it was right.” We see others just accept their fate or change the game to win fairly. It had nothing to do with ego, but it was a will to live, a survival instinct, which is arguably the most powerful one.
Sang-Woo of all players has had the most acute understanding of the cruel reality of the games (every man for himself) and of what kind of attitude is required to make it out of them.
He was determined to save his life at all costs. We can see throughout the games that he actively focused on increasing his chances. Numerous times he has tried to help out others when he could and adhere to morally 'good' actions.
When it came down to choices "his life vs the life of another player", he prioritized his life. He did what he had to do to survive.
He like everyone else was forcibly put into such conditions and before such choices.
Can we really blame him for valuing life over honor and not making sacrifice? Honor is all good and esteemed, but ultimately, most of the times, life is more important.
I think it's too much to ask for sacrifice from a man in such circumstances. Especially, when those people are basically strangers. Yes, they got close in those few days, and there is that 'brother' thing between Sang-Woo and Ali, which makes the betrayal more painful. But still. They didn't owe their lives to each other. One of them was going to die.
I did not mean every person would resort to that level. I just meant most people would value their life over life of another.
'Resorting to that level' requires gumption, quick thinking, and ability to remain cold-blooded in extremely stressful environment. Many people would not be able to think straight.
They might just give up and 'accept their fate', though not out of fairness or honor, but rather inability to find a way out. Most people, if they would be in a position to sacrifice like Sang-Woo was, they wouldn't.

I love her scene the most.
Hers is a beautiful and heroic sacrifice.
First of all, I disagree 'it was right'. It wasn't right to die for anyone there. Moreover, it's not like any of them both has deserved to live or to die more, despite however much they 'had to live for' or who had a bigger family.
Ji-yeong might have found her reasons to live had she more time, find joy in life, have a family, too.
If you are willing to go into such comparisons, which I suspect is an easy thing to do following the line of thinking suggested by the filmmakers, yet most likely a fallacy, - you might say Ji-yeong has had perhaps a stronger beating from fate. Sae-byeok has some family left, at least. Then by what right it is 'more right' for Ji-young to give her life?
Secondly, it was an out-of-the-ordinary act, not everyone is a hero.
Thirdly, and I am not casting any shadow on it, yet lets think on the hardness of her decision.
From little what we know about her, she is portrayed as a person hard-boiled by super harsh life experiences, who is quite unimpressed by impending death, and already does not value her life that much.
I mean compare her attitude to life with some average person who still sees things to live for. She values her life less in comparison. Hence it is easier for her to sacrifice.
Sang-Woo was also shown suicidal before the return, but apparently his attitude has changed later, and will to live was awaken. So it was harder for him to sacrifice in comparison to Ji-yeong.
Similar with oldman (if we disregard he was immune to death by the game), he valued his life less and was expecting to die.
But imagine if Ji-yeong has had the same background as Sae-byeok. It would be much harder to sacrifice for her.
However, it does not diminish a single bit of her selfless deed.
She might have appeared cynical and indifferent, yet in the end the imminence of death has brought her emotion and aliveness to the surface.
She didn't have anything left, yet she gave the last she had - her life. And she did in style. Powerful!
