A very simple and delicious side dish. Enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
Fab. Thank you for the recipe - it might be extremely simple but it serves as a reminder as to how easy it is to cook this underused vegetable.
Hope you enjoy! Thanks so much for watching! Have a great day!
It looks really good!
It was! especially the dirt...lol.. Have a great day and thanks for checking us out!
You got a new follower, this was super Easy and delicious.
Awesome! Thank you! Have a great new year!
Hi chef John another excellent share my friend. You always inspire me with wonderful ideas . 😎. See you next time
I appreciate your positive comments and your being a friend of the show! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for watching!
Good grief, I love leeks. Think they are one of the most underrated vegetables next to shallots and rutabaga. Never braised them; this looks gorgeous, Chef! I have got to make this for Mrs Rivet, next time I grill steaks. What do you think about adding shroomers (porcini's?) to the leftover liquid to make a gravy with? The parmesan was a nice touch. Wow.....all of a suddden I want to make a leek lasagne :)
I like these with pot roast and celery and carrots too. I think the mushroom gravy sounds great. Thanks for watching and have a great week with Mrs. Rivet!
Thanks for sharing. Another well made presentation.
Thanks for watching Suede!
Chef in desperate need with another one of your fantastic soup recipes or omelette recipes on you're future projects. I need some hardy food here as I think it will never stop snowing and I need energy to. Shovel. Have removed snow from roof five times so far this winter. Had five feet thick snow load.on roof. Seriously I don't need curtains for my bed room window as view is blocked by huge snow bank. Multiple roof collapses over last month. You would not believe it . Is it the same in your neck of the woods. Again a few hearty recipes that are easy to make please. Cheers from Canada. Province of Quebec.
I have an omelet show planned soon that I know you will love. Yes the snow has been non stop gere in Minnesota as well. Keep a good thought, soon it will be humid and the air full of mosquitos
Thanks chef!
My pleasure!!
great video! thank you.
You are welcome!
Tnx a lot for sharing, got new ways of how to cook leeks, its really nutritious,God bless you..more power to your cooking,😊,im from the Philippines..
Thank you so much. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
Hello chef Joh can you please tell me if I can freeze them after I braise them? Thank you
Thanks for watching, I would not recommend freezing them after braising. Great question!
*Chef Jim - Great Video - Nice camera work and editing!!!! ... Just a FYI - I thought a braise was a slow cook in a COVERED pot - Isnt this more of something called Boiled Leaks?*
Jim, a braise is frying the food before adding liquid, covering it, and then a allowing to simmer in the liquid until tender. I like to add an additional step of deglazing with the liquid in the pan to add another layer of flavor, but I didn't really capture that in this video. I appreciate the comments, great question. Have a great week and thanks for watching.
very nice, I haven't heard of leeks, so this video is intriguing to me, will try to make this sometime, thanks for your thoughts.
I appreciate the compliment, I hope you try this recipe out and enjoy it. Thanks for watching and have a great week!
"The Israelites too began to weep . . . "How fondly we remember the fish . . . the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, the garlic . . ."" Numbers 11:4, 5.
@@anthonyhargis6855 Oh, I forgot about that statement when they complained about the manna, thanks for pointing that out. I haven't heard much about Leeks, its not common, at least around me
@@cjwworld It's a type of onion, basically, though milder. They can grow to a height of two feet and are still a favored vegetable in Egypt and Palestine. They're usually served as a side dish, like Chef mentions, though they are also used as a seasoning, like onions.
Great in cream of potato soup. Have a great day both of you guys and thaks for watching
Oo never heard of braised leeks! This video comes at such a perfect time because I was just gifted a bunch of beautiful wild leeks. Definitely not as big as those ones. Can't wait to try this ! Looks delicious:)
Thanks for watching Mel, I hope you give them a try Have a great week!
he said he got most of the dirt off. I think you should get ALL of the dirt off!!! lol
word!
Thanks for the recipe!
But my Leeks came out soft, but kind of stringy and difficult to cut. Anyone know what did I do wrong??
Hmmm...Could be the leeks were old to begin with or they cooked for too long
Another delicious dish John.
Thank you sir, have a great week and keep on cooking!
How about reducing the that liquid adding a touch of cream and pouring them over the leeks
Many ways to plate this, thanks for your idea!
I knew this was going to be fantastic before I even watched it. How so? First, you were doing the cooking. Second:
"The Israelites too began to weep . . . "How fondly we remember the fish . . . the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, the garlic . . ."" Numbers 11:4, 5.
How could it not be delicious? LOL
I would be happy to finally get away from Mt. Sinai and finally cross the Jordan river, so I am thinking that having a little meat would appease the rabble. But I am more of a book of Habakkuk kind of guy
@@ChefJohnPolitteItsOnlyFood Habakkuk, eh? Is it the "trusting in God" emphasis, or do you just have a thing for leopards? LOL
My horse is a bit faster than a leapord but Jeremiah says that their horses are swifter than eagles. I gave up on leapord print with Edie Gorme...😆😆
@@ChefJohnPolitteItsOnlyFood ROFLMAO
A plumbers favorite way to fix leeks is by braising them.
That sir, is funny!! Have a great week and thanks for watching
