Neither the Germans nor the Japanese put much, if any, cockpit armor in any of their planes. In a totalitarian state, humans are just another resource to exploit, the more willingly the better. And they paid dearly for such ruthless short-sightedness when they both started running out of skilled pilots by 1943...
I think that's because the German bomber types used in the Battle of Britain were originally developed under the "Schnellbomber", or "Fast bomber" plan of the 1930s. The idea being the bombers would be fast enough to evade the enemy interceptors and so wouldn't need much defensive armament, if any.
Here is an idea, or rather a challenge, in WW2 there was a plane called Flak Bait, with many crazy stories surrounding it. Might be worth a look. Beautiful video, excellent tie ins and great use of historical footage. Cheers dude.
The hurricane was a great all-purpose fighter. It could also take a lot of punishment and still survive. This was because of the way it was built. Later on, two canons were mounted, one on each wing and it became a ground attack fighter also, busting tanks. They were built till the end of the war. There was also another fighter called the Supermarine Spitfire, which was a bit faster than the hurricane, and took care of the enemy fighter escort, while the Hurricane took on the bombers.
Actually, the German fighter pilots were instructed to defend their bombers. They would try to dive past the Spitfires and engage the Hurricanes, which, in the hands of competent pilots, did quite well against them. It was a deadly game with strategic and tactical moves on both sides. For purposes of public morale and propaganda, big claims were made during the contest. These had to be revised in the light of actual records after the war
I enjoyed the subject. There was an unnecessary air raid siren as they scrambled which would only be heard when the bombers were approaching rather than first detected. Your pilot needs to get in the habit of jinking every few seconds even when he thinks the skies are empty, especially in a damaged aircraft on the deck. I was expecting him to get bounced. Overall an enjoyable video. Thank you.
So.... 10 He-111s is a large number of German bombers? Those are rookie numbers son. Die Deutsche Luftwaffe used to sent sorties of 50-100 at their smallest, and 200-1000 at their highest. That sort of sight would make anyone piss their pants.
Those 8-303s sure pour out the lead . Just to nit pick some the formation is wrong , the RAF flew the Vic formation in the Battle of Btitain , not the Finger Four like the Luftwaffe , other than that great ! Well done 👍
Nice video and very well done, although escort fighters were often found in the bomber formations. An example is the bf-109 E. However it is a good job!
This is what I want to see , so sick of people showing German planes smashing allied country planes laughing , it’s no joke , guess it’s easy mode in this game or nazis playing , yeah it’s harder with allied planes they never had 20 mm cannon in the nose wings or what ever , the allies grafted hard within the limitations of their craft and it cost …. A lot , love to see more allied planes bringing it to the nazi war machine .

Oh and I forgot the RAF used dispersal and hardened areas to park their aircraft so the bombing raid looked a bit odd too.
