I swear each job I get is more harder and harder so I burn out so quick lol! I’m hoping I last and not just 2 days to 2 weeks but I guess I’ll have to figure it out lol always wanted to try something new plus I bet a lot of interesting people come through those doors. 😂
You also have to understand the hospitals push for rooms to be faster done because someone is wait for the room when hospitals feels up from er and move patients to it’s like musically chairs sometimes and low on crew members it gets hard 8 years as hospital housekeeper

A typical discharge room varies how clean or dirty maybe depending in different factors. Additionally, I didn’t see the EVS tech cleaning the ventilation or walls as I used to do it. Furthermore, some rooms maybe need terminal cleaning when exposed to patience exposed to C-Diff, MRSA, VRE, among other diseases. Furthermore, this video doesn’t suggest to use a portable UV light to asure disinfection and sanitation is an extra to assure most un to 99% of bad microorganisms are killed to assure next patients room.

Please forgive me but the bed cleaning part, he says clean from top down on beds. Yet she raises the sides ABOVE the bed to clean the rails AFTER the bed top is sanitized. I worked in the automotive detail industry for 15 yrs. They train to clean top down. Then got into detailing Winnebago type private coaches and airplanes. Airplanes clean bottom to top. About a year ago I took a position in housekeeping at Winchester medical center. I was placed in the emergency department. Recently I requested a transfer and was placed in critical care unit. I love my crew and manager. Im just trying to improve my skills by watching videos. There's always something to learn.

If they say no or yes but in a hospital I’m sure in a patient is inside you still do the best you can I supposed let me know pls thank you 🙏
Yes I work at at 2 hospitals u do what they call daily clean while patient is in room it’s not like a terminal clean usually they make us pull trash first then u go back and clean the room we don’t dust unless patient is discharge or has went down for test then I’ll go back and dust while there not there …. The don’t recommend u do it while patient is there then after lunch we wait for patients to be discharge and clean the room discharge is pretty much a terminal clean … Daily is just mainly touched things by patients bathroom u always clean last … clean bed rails , dispensers, remote , phone , call bell I clean the chairs during my daily’s cause patients have visitors so I wipe those over bed table and sink mirror and bathroom then dust mop and mop floor that’s it for daily . Discharge is pretty much everything
I’m guessing that the chemical can get on a patient’s skin when they sweat. As long as it stays wet for the chemical dwell time to kill the pathogens they can wipe it off with water after the time is up.
I know this is like 3 years late but for anyone else coming along, you let it sit for like 4-7min depending, the water wipe is so that it doesn't ruin the bed. You'll see older beds that didn't get wiped and the material is just falling apart
Im getting in trouble for my availability times in between each room and how long I spend on each room.....I also dont clean as many rooms as I should is there anyone who has these problems or who has any advice
Megg Nikole have you tried to talk to the person over you? I don't know if there is a set time in cleaning. Just follow the steps and take a extra moment if the patient is alone to say hello. People get lonely and that's like a big reason they complain. I didn't stay long in this job because it's stressful but hang in there!
I have been working EVS for 8 years and I train too, so what I tell the new people is Trash, Linen wipe down make the bed and Mop out, 5 easy steps because it's the same thing all the time, you will pick up speed as you go but do it right ok
Also your first round is just a quick clean. You go back during the day for a more advanced cleaning. Yes it is normal to get behind so just breathe! Everything will workout:)
And sometimes they leave SO MUCH stuff in those rooms its just not realistic. Then what if you go in the room and there's pee and poo on the floor. Thats extra time, along with all the equipment left...
@@TythisTie As a discharge housekeeper at my job, we are not required to take medical equipment out of a patient's room nor pick up/remove pee and poop. We are to clean and sanitize and not do the nurses jobs. If there's equipment in the room, we are to inform the nurse and they will have to come take it out. Sometimes, they will have an attitude and won't come get it or they will tell, me, that the housekeeper will, normally, push them out into the hallway. I quickly tell them, " Thats not in my job description. You're suppose to do it." If they don't remove the equipment, we can clean the room up until we reach the problem spot, such as urine, poop and equipment and suspend the room until they, do, remove it. If they don't do it, the room will be considered dirty and canceled.
Since I have worked in this environment people don't realize the stress. However have to choose to always be positive 💯

In fact I earned the employee of the month for the EVS department prior to my transfer to the central service/sterile processing department SPD.

If you are really good discharge can be in 30 minutes. This nice lady probably took more that 1 hour to finish that discharge.

Why wipe the mattress back down with plain water afterwards??? It's best to let the chemical air dry on the mattress.

15-20 minutes in a patient room? I'm afforded 5 minutes per patient room. I get discharges before I'm done taking out the trash.
