I saw the most wonderful performance by Carl, for about an hour before a show they did at the riviera in Las Vegas. He came through a side door and was pushing his mom, who was in a wheelchair, around the casino so she could play a few slots. I’ll never forget that as long as I live.
@@johnheinrich6907What a great story! He was obviously very devoted to his mother and you were fortunate to see that devotion in person. Thanks for sharing.
That look at around 1:08 Carl gives Brian when he sings the word "Smile" made my soul just that bit warmer. It's not fair that we lost Carl that early.
Aleksander10450, Seen them at San Diego Sports Arena early 1974? Seeing Carl's hair and beard was the reason I grew mine, same coloring in both hair and beard as Carl's. Started parting my hair in the middle. Couldn't grow it long, in the Navy until I got out in '77, then down to my shoulders! Had a beard in the Navy. We were aloud at that time if we put in a request, called a "chit". Wish I had stayed in Southern California. Would move back, afraid I couldn't afford it now. All the best and may God bless.
Carl was extraordinary. He was a stellar guitarist and vocalist and a warm and generous human being. I got to work with him while opening with David Cassidy on the Endless Summer 30th anniversary tour and Carl always made me feel welcome. He was respectful of other people and a genuine beautiful person. Even though I was part of an opening act he would invite me on stage to jam on Barbara Ann at the end of the shows. He invited us to have Chinese Food which was only for the BB’s so we wouldn’t have to find places to eat before the shoes. Mike put a stop to it eventually but It meant a lot to me to be invited. Carl would gladly talk shop when approached and was always approachable. He was a beautiful man.
Seeing Dennis and Carl looking so good and healthy and hearing this all-time classic is just awesome. Wouldn't it have been great to be at that birthday party with the Boys and Paul & Linda? Seeing Denny beat the crap out of that set is just exhilirating. Thanks for posting this one!
I'm 51 now and this song (well, the studio version anyway) sounds just as striking as it did when I first heard it as an 8 year old in 1966. It was so good I made it the first single I ever bought. I had elder brothers and sisters who were introducing me to the Beatles, Stones, Small Faces and the Who etc.. but this song was the best thing I had ever heard up to that time and I still don't think it can be beaten.
The music of this band is exeptional, and beyond descrbing with words. This vid is worth watching for so many reasons, and Carl's smile isn't the least of it.
I love this video so much. A great time for the Beach Boys when all the Wilson brothers were in the band. Carl and Dennis were such a vital part of the group and were taken way too soon. At least we have You Tube so we can look back and witness again of what a great band the Beach Boys were. Treasured memories....
In this very moment of my bumpy life I had an urge for some Beach Boys..... never disappoints Thank you to UA-cam. And massive respect to the Beach Boys.
Oh, I just think they are a great collection of talented and creative musicians. I think when we're comparing groups like the Beach Boys and Beatles, you have to step up the competition, and they happen to be one of the few groups around these days that has that kind of range, talent, and synergy to be compared to the BBs and Beatles. They are all amazingly talented.
The Beach Boys masterpiece 'Good Vibrations' features on the magnum opus: Smile Sessions, the successor of Pet Sounds. The composition, instrumentation and orchestral arrangements, vocals and lyrics of the Beach Boys' canon is unsurpassable.
how much credit does Carl deserve for carrying the beachies in brian's absence - they would have never made without carl and the band pressing on and having a go... what a wonderful sound !!!
This is SO good! Imagine Paul McCartney at Brian Wilson's 34th birthday party. Too bad Elvis was so insecure with the British invasion, specially when these new groups all idolized him. The Beach Boys and the Beatles just seemed to enjoy each other's music. I always liked Carl.He had such a great voice, and it was so sad when he passed away so soon, at such an early age. Great video. Lot's of fun.
Fantastic, just lifts your spirits on the spur of the moment!!! I wonder how many people had any idea of the deep implications of the lyrics? We are vibrational beings and so it stands to reason that having good vibrations means that we are in the ultimate state of being. These musicians as all other creatrive people are inspired by spirit.
16 years this vídeo has been on UA-cam. Every time I decide to come back to it, I dread it'll be gone. Here's to hoping and praying it never gets taken down 🎶🤟🙏
does he have more then one or two good albums? Besides Pet Sounds like Zappa has 32 great album and King Crimson has tons & Jethro Tull and Bob Dylan has over like 700 great songs ?
Saw this years ago and for some reason the bookmark for it disappeared. Thankfully I just happened across it today. Major Relief! And THANKSSSSSSS for posting this its really wonderful to see!
OMG! I used to be obsessed w/ the Beach Boys when I was 7 or 8. Its weird, I've started to listen to more "urban" music. But this, this'll still be one of my favs forever.
Thank you for posting this song. Memories of '66. Met my (soon to be) first wife and we'd walk along the sea shore ..."workin' on those night moves". Great memory of an easier time.
This was the year I first seen them, 8 times altogether,, Brian is my mentor,,, Love that guy.. Harmonies are off the hook, and chord progressions incredible..
A #1 hit for The Beach Boys in December 1966. It also hit #1 in the United Kingdom, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Rhodesia. And it also charted in several other countries, as well.
I don't know how Brian was doing during this time, but these live shows must have driven him nuts considering the lack of perfection. I wish I knew more about Carl. It seems like he's the one who held the whole thing together.
yes Carl was the leader onstage since about 1967. I don't think Brian cared about the live shows when he made his '76 comeback, he was scared to death. Between 1969 and '73 Carl was pretty much producing the BB albums as well.
2:08 is a great shot of Dennis, it's so great but so sad to see him so happy knowing what happened to him a few years after. The day he died was definitely the day the art of drumming went to hell, at least temporarily if not permanently.
I used to love the Beach Boys in the mid-late 80s, particularly after I had been to Sea world (Florida) and watched the 60s beach party themed Ski-show (which predominately featured Beach Boys music). I can relate to what you are going through and at the time thought Id been born about 25 years too late!! But at least due to the introduction of CDs, downloads and sites like this, the music can be appreciated once again.
Wow amazing, I just love Brian, Carl, Dennis (the star) & Al, but what a complete TWAT Mike Love is and makes of himself. He has the coordination of a disjointed middle class white man, which is exactly what he is! Keep on keeping on Brian, RIP Dennis & Carl.
There are great song floating in the Internet, songs from before you couldn't here without the internet and new songs too created continuous.. You just need to widen your view.
+Hiba Yamin totally agree with what they said, i was getting bored of popular music and moved to unpopular ones. And because of that i discovered AURORA and other artists. If you want a good compilation look up common culture by connor franta.
Oh what wonderful memories these songs bring back to your heart. THE most delightful band and NEVER GROW tired of their music. Thanks for posting this gem. :-)
I thought I've seen everything of theirs. Thanks so much for this great video. Nobody could understand the amazing impact of this song back then unless you were hanging out back then. Music today reminds me of that alien on Star Trek that just sucked your entire life spirit out of you.
@mannyfan01 Thank God for folks like you. Please keep this music alive. I'm one of the old guys that grew up listening to and playing this stuff. This is the new classical music.
I love watching Carl perform, especially when it's so obvious, as it is here, that he was truly enjoying himself. Such a great loss!

Such an underrated singer. Really fabulous unique voice.
So true. He was such a talent and retaind humility. He was an amazing musician and could have cut it with any playing situation. A powerhouse.
Such a beautiful sweet voice. The music lives on...
That look at around 1:08 Carl gives Brian when he sings the word "Smile" made my soul just that bit warmer. It's not fair that we lost Carl that early.
Playing this at my dads funeral today. Keith Windeler. He loved the beach boys. Rip Dad
RIP, he had good taste

His son must be a good man
So sorry bro, he had a good taste.

His beard and his hair waving in the wind are glorious, this is fkin rock
Rock? Um...kinda
It’s even better, it’s pop

So cool seeing Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney in the same film, two of my favorite composers in the same room
good friends, lots of clips of them together over the years.

Trust Mike L to put a stop to it. I only hear good stories about Carl Wilson.
@@rejectionisprotection4448 Exactly - always the $$$$ with Mike. God forbid someone receives something he's feels entitled to.
Not surprised that Mike decided to put a stop to it, he only sees dollar signs and never cared about anyone but himself
Carl has the voice of an angel! Perfect pitch all the time!
I could listen to Carl Wilson sing forever.
Icould ear this song; all my live

Dennis= always on point. Very, sadly underrated as both a drummer and writer. We love you Denny, RIP.
Such a shame Dennis died so soon, God bless Dennis and Carl Wilson!
Probably the best melody of the 20th Century.
One of the best pop songs ever - still inspiring even now, over 40 years after the release.
Now almost 60!

The recorded single of Good Vibrations was voted the best song of the 20th century and I agree 100%.
This was Carl's time to shine. One look at Brian here, you could see that someone had to take charge. Carl did just that.
I love this song....Carl handled it well when Brian couldn't, as well as many others. God Bless his musical soul.
It's the BEACH BOYS. How can some one not like them? Seriously.
So great to see this!! I LOVED Carl Wilson, he was a talented singer and sooooo cute....
Thanks for sharing.
I love the beach boys, There still to this day the greatest band on earth.
I love Carl's smile. So sweet...
@annieswan Bless you for noticing. He was very happy then.
A timeless masterpiece. I consider it Brian Wilson's best work ever.

I never imagined the BeachBoys were actually a very good live act. They could really deliver!
the concert in london early 70's, it's a double CD and is really good; knebworth, 1980, video of concert is on youtube, brilliant........
