Hello, I want you to know just how much I appreciate everything you have done for me. Thank you for your love and support. You are a true fan, and I am so grateful for that. You cannot imagine how much strength your support has given me during a difficult time. I appreciate you more than words can say. I hope you keep being a great fan. Where are you watching from?
I have always known what he was doing with his lyrics. I dont know if I am the only one who gets it. He used one liners that would give you the feeling of what he wanted to convey. Absolute genius
I have been such a fan of Beck since the early 90’s. His music is thought provoking and mesmerizing. It changes as we have all grown. He’s been such an inspiration for new music and his collaborations are aways phenomenal!! Cage the Elephant! Dwight Yoakam! Phoenix! I’ll never be bored of his music!!!! Always on my playlist. ❤ I think he’s a deep person who doesn’t portray himself as great as he is.
I have always liked Beck. I do like a lot of music. All types Rap, Alternative, are some of my most favorite. There are not very many interviews I could listen to the whole thing. I became glued to this one because I have always understood his lyrics and what he was trying to convey. It is like he said in a nutshell, He uses a lot of 1 liners to convey a feeling. He also confirmed what I have always thought. He rewrote lines using a thesaurus (didnt specifically say that but I know he did) so the thought was not so direct. Or went back and thought of what would make him feel the way the line was written and rewrote it with a synonymous line. Most interesting interview I have ever seen.
“you’re not directly saying i miss you but you’re encapsulating all of the feeling in trying to aggregate all of these words together that will not specifically say this is exactly what i’m feeling - they will give you the atmosphere of that feeling” genius ❤
I fell asleep watching UA-cam and woke up mid this interview, but my mind showed a naked hairy man on a slab on the screen. I screamed. One cat jumped off the bed. Then I listened to the interview. It is a fine exchange. It was like waking up on the Sydney Harbour bridge in a bus with the Col Joye backing band. I woke to the energy of that city with the vaguest idea of how I got there. Great that they talk about ephemeral. These are things we think about as a child but kill with too much 'reality'.
I'm a middle-aged white male I happened upon Beck in 2002 with the sea change album. I was really blown away at every single song and play that CD almost every day for a full year. From there I went back through his catalog to Odelay and really enjoyed it also forward to the information in 2007 and wave in 2012 very as a music lover I can tell you that this man is a musical genius and very eclectic which I appreciate
16:11 precisely why his music is so addicting. the melodies are catchy, but the lyrics are elusive. the mind begs for repeated listening to fill the gaps in missed data.
You can tell by some of your lyrics that you actually picked up a book or two well played dawg. But you know you made it when Mr west accompanies you on stage
When I knew he wrote his biggest song as a “joke” toward grunge. I was hooked! I haven’t stopped being a fan! I do love Uneventful Days! Beautiful song.
Sadly I actually had free tickets to see Beck here in Birmingham Alabama with Cage the elephant because my good friend and former bandmate from high school was the guitar tech for cage so he put me and my wife on the guest list and the night of there was a huge washout with thunderstorms and it was at a huge outdoor venue and they were threatening that they're just going to cancel the entire show so we set in a hotel parking lot for three plus hours until my wife finally just said hey I'm kind of over this like let's just go home so we went home and then an hour later one of my buddies here in Birmingham starts posting pictures and posting videos and I was like wait the the show went on like they're playing right now and he said yeah they decided to let him play late because the venue has a noise ordinancy that requires that all shows need to be done by 11:00 well it's about 10:30 to 11:00 and cage is still on stage then back gets on stage and I was like damn it damn it damn it we had free tickets and we decided to call it a night after sitting in the car for three and a half hours and I will forever regret that.
beck said that he wants to make his lyrics more approachable because they are "too weird" for people to sing along to. Coming from a fan on the younger side of his audience, I really hope he doesn't try to do that and keeps his originality cause thats what makes his music so good

I'd like to know who censored this interview. The audio disappears on very specific words. I have something to say directly to who's responsible for this ludicrously paranoid censoring: What the HELL is your problem???

Beck can do no wrong in anything he does.
From his Anti- Folk to his Funk to Synthwave..
All amazing.. thank you Beck .
I never really liked Beck. I know this is because I'm not sophisticated enough.
@@edmund184 you don't have to be that way nor think that . Art is subjective and open to the one who is experiencing it.

I absolutely adore him. Beck is so genuine a true artist.
Amanda is fantastic, such interesting and intelligent questions, nobody better to interview Beck.
That was a very entertaining interview. Nice job by the interviewer.
I really ...love this....i so enjoy ...when people share thoughts....thank you beck!!! Xo
I love his candor. This was a lovely listen
Beck is underrated

such a sharp, aware, sensitive soul Beck is. I wish we could hear the 20 albums never got released yet paved the way for the ones we heard
As interesting to listen him ad his music. Feel like I could talk to him for hours!
This human is quite unique and interesting.
Love Bek.
Audience: *Raucous applause*
Beck: “…Hey.”

Great talk by Beck and the host.
Cheers when he mentions Pharrell, but barely a clap when he mentions Midnite Vultures..
sad. midnite vultures is what introduced me to beck.
Might be my favourite beck album
It’s a killer album
Beck just a class act FULL .

You can’t be middle aged bc I started listening to Beck in 1999 and I’m not middle aged lmao
@@grovers_paradise lol. Your logic is flawed my friend I am middle-aged being 58 years old, discovered sea change at age 36. What's the problem?

Love him.
That was soooo fun.....
Yes
cool, i didn't know about his sheet music-only album.
When beck walked out he gave me strong Michel Houellebecq vibes
my grandfather still wants his pants back
You can tell by some of your lyrics that you actually picked up a book or two well played dawg. But you know you made it when Mr west accompanies you on stage
31:02 I want to see this show
I could have sworn that was Laura Dern.
This guy seems to have all of Beck's lyrics memorized.
new gen kids may think his story are just joking around. But us '90s gen was knows that's all hilarious things can be real if it's was Beck.
When I knew he wrote his biggest song as a “joke” toward grunge. I was hooked! I haven’t stopped being a fan! I do love Uneventful Days! Beautiful song.

I believe the censor in question was a dodgy lavalier mic signal, happens a lot and especially places like SXSW.
44:35 show me what you mean, don't tell me.
He's so creative. He pulls little bits from everywhere in pop culture and crafts his own sound. Wish he wasn't into Christian Science though 😐
