Geek Climber!!! it was awesome to climb with you buddy! Keep training hard and you will be climbing harder in no time!!! It was awesome to meet you and get to climb with you for the day! looking forward to another session hopefully soon!!!
Hey Paul! I will continue training hard! Definitely let me know if you have a chance to visit San Diego next time, so I can show you my progress! Looking forward!!
Great and simple refinements! Mesa training ctr is so cool. Epic teamwork, especially the coaching. 😎. Eager to learn to achieve sustainable skills. 🙏🤙
1. 1:16 Eyes on foothold 2. 3:35 Pull up and pull in when cutting feet (feet come off wall) 3. 5:32 Flag for optimal body position (balance a right hand reach with a foot off to the left) 4. 6:50 Read route edit: added time stamps to encourage actually watching the video. Didn't intend to discourage watching!
If you are already saying 'this information' as if it's basic knowledge, this video isn't exactly suited for you. It's an enjoyable video, that not only provides helpful techniques. But more importantly, demonstrates how said techniques come into play whilst climbing.
There's also the fact that it's simply disrespectful, considering that this is basically cheating Geek Climber out of the work he put into producing the video. C'mon man.
I wish more teachers (or really anyone explaining anything) would be more like Paul. He encourages you and really describes what you should do in a simple way. Doesn't get mad when you make a mistake, he lets you figure it all out first.
Bouldering 1:10 1. eyes on foothold during foot placement. - Then I know my foot is placed correctly. I can move beyond with confidence. - Practice this during warmup, before fatigued 2:50 2. During foot cut. As you cut, pull up and in with arms and put foot up. Don't let extended legs swing down. - Swinging out will be less. Effort to place feet back on the wall will be less. 5:15 3. Flag for optimal body position - example. when i remove right hand, I swing to left and fall off. So flag to left to avoid swing. 6:45 5. Route Reading - stand back and plan route before I start.
I love that you are teaching others what you know and are still very open to learning. This shows me that you will always be giving advice that is coming from a place of improvement, not shortcuts. 🙏
Love the technical climbing instructions I've seen so far! Learning a lot pretty quickly since I've started watching. Keep up the educational posts please! I can't learn everything the hard way lol
Paul is so amazing, I keep on watching these videos of him teaching you guys. Once he stops his professional career he should really think about working as a coach. So so so good
Great video! I’m about to go for a climb right now so I can’t wait to put these tips to good use! Great explanations and demonstrations of the benefits of each tip.
Glad you find the video helpful! There are a lot of training videos for intermediate climbers, but I agree with you that there are not many about techniques for intermediate climbers out there. Let me know how it goes!
Climbing with a pro like paul is like woah that so cool! But 2 youtubers doing a collab it pretty normal despite your climbing difference. You are both legends in my eyes!
Glad to hear that! It was definitely a surreal experience of working with Paul! I hope I can inspire younger generations some day like what Paul is doing now.
what a cool and teaching idea for climbing comunity. Really entertiment for new and advanced climbers. Paul have such a nice personality for this thing. Good job you two!
Bro your content is helpful, please do more as i am still a newbie in climbing i need to learn more from expert, thanks you so much for all of your video. Keep the good job up and up!!!
This is really an awesome video! I think we are at a similar level, so these tips could really help, especially the one with watching your feet while you place them!
i saw valley uprising yuesterday, i regret my life. Eventough i've never done climing. i wanted to have made that journey from a young age. Seems like the right way to live your life.
Hey man it’s never too late to start climbing. I’ve met plenty of people in their 50s and 60s in the gym that just started. I am sure you will find great joy in rock climbing.
@@GeekClimber Thank you for the words of encouragement! I think i'll find a wall somewhere to see if i get hooked for it. It may serve as a good motivator to slim down a little more to!
One small tip for hand placement, once you grab the hold, hold it. Double checking your hold by shifting the hand and “making sure” youre on it good enough will waste energy. Theres videos out there on it. Take a look. Cheers
@@GeekClimber I only started bouldering a couple of month ago. Yesterday I tried to apply the tips from this video. The thing that stood out to me the most was what a profound difference it makes to take the time and actually look at once food. I'm seriously staggered how that didn't occur to me before. So yeah, I can say that this video actually made me a better climber, who ever said you wouldn't learn things from youtube? ;D Thanks again to you and Paul.
Great stuff. Today was my first day climbing in two weeks, and I could feel that my route reading was off. My climbing sense started to come back after an hour or so.
Glad you like it! I usually just climbed and felt a route. I had no idea that this prevented me from making good progress because I wasted so much strength that I could’ve used on harder routes. I used to think route reading was just for people who did comps.
Geek Climber Both are great skills to build. Climbing without a read helps you really think on your feet, and reading a climb helps you climb efficiently. It's like reading sheet music vs playing jazz improv. Both are great
Geek Climber!!! it was awesome to climb with you buddy! Keep training hard and you will be climbing harder in no time!!! It was awesome to meet you and get to climb with you for the day! looking forward to another session hopefully soon!!!
You are a cool dude Paul!

Thanks, amazing video
Paul sounds like a caring father teaching his 7 year old son
That’s a proof that Paul is a good coach.
hahaha he totally does sound like that its cool
Jack1999 uuhh6
Omg ur so right it’s so funny but it makes geek climber feel comfortable and not under pressure to learn the tricks quickly
a bit condescending imo
1. 1:16 Eyes on foothold
2. 3:35 Pull up and pull in when cutting feet (feet come off wall)
3. 5:32 Flag for optimal body position (balance a right hand reach with a foot off to the left)
4. 6:50 Read route
edit: added time stamps to encourage actually watching the video. Didn't intend to discourage watching!
Good summary but everyone should listen to the details that Paul said!
yeah 10.30 for this information? come on...
If you are already saying 'this information' as if it's basic knowledge, this video isn't exactly suited for you. It's an enjoyable video, that not only provides helpful techniques. But more importantly, demonstrates how said techniques come into play whilst climbing.

I was only after a quick recap after having watched once before, this is a godsend. Thank you.
I wish more teachers (or really anyone explaining anything) would be more like Paul. He encourages you and really describes what you should do in a simple way. Doesn't get mad when you make a mistake, he lets you figure it all out first.
He's a good teacher
Agree!
Paul is an awesome coach. Super supportive and patient!!
Can't agree with you more! Paul is amazing!
This is great: it takes courage to let someone coach you on video. Thanks a lot!
I was a bit nervous but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to get coached by Paul Robinson!
First tip, and Paul is already knocking it out of the park, focusing on the psychology of confidence.
That was really legit advice he's really good at explaining things and his thoughts, thanks for this both of you!
Damn, Paul seems super chill and really knows his craft. So much respect!!
Paul is truly a professional man, really knowledgeable and down to earth. Amazing!

Glad you like the video! I have been following Paul's training plan. Pretty intense for me but hopefully I will be able to climb a grade higher soon!
You two have no idea how much you help me with your channels. Keep doing what you're doing, both of you! :)

Man, this is REALLY good! Keep doing videos like these, they're super helpful
Glad you find the video helpful! I will definitely continue making awesome videos like these!
man, he's just plain an awesome teacher. So encouraging, lets you do your best and then teaches.
Pull in and up to stop the swing. That's awesome. Great video!
Yea, right? I was so conditioned to keep my arms straight that it didn’t come to mind that I should pull in and up when my feet were cut.
Geek Climber, I'm running V5/V6 as well so this is great stuff for someone at a similar level. Thanks and cool session with Paul Robinson!
You are welcome! Let's break through the plateau together!
I love the way you edited out the slow parts and just included the nitty gritty. Great video!
Glad you like the video! The entire session with Paul is about 2~3 hours and it was hard to distill it down to 10 mins!
that video actually had a lot of very useful information in it, thank you and hope you post some more
It’s kind of nuts how easy Paul makes the same moves look, he’s so strong!
Great contextual tutorial! Thanks for putting yourself out there for the benefit of our shared learning 👍🏽
This is just super solid advice. Amazing how much of a difference the suggested adjustments make.
I love how Paul is just so patient and encouraging. That's how you do it

There’s so much to learn about climbing. Gotta keep on improving!
When he says “come on, come on” I expect a following “ veeery Good, push, push” ,- John Hammond 😂👍🏻🤘🏼
Haha, Paul has a different style of encouraging people!
Geek Climber haha its awesome though ;) great video :D

Great job, Paul seems like an excellent teacher!
I love watching people progress and seeing what makes the differences, this content is good content.

Very helpful video. There seems to be very little content out there to help intermediate climbers. I will definitely try out these techniques

you deserve more views! youre really inspiring me to go try out climbing.
Glad to hear that! I assume you have been enjoying it so far!
It pisses me off when people keep saying come on when I’m climbing, but you pushed through it. Good job.
Why? Doesn't some encouragement actually make you push a bit harder?
This was crazy!! So useful. Thanks!!
Glad you find the video helpful! I had a blast too!
The way he said "Pull Up!", sounded like the ground proximity warning system in a plane. "Sink Rate, Pull Up!" :D
These are some great tips, awesome to listen to a pro climber coach.
I totally agree with you!
Very good video, i'm sure we all agree that more videos like that would be perfect !! keep it up mate ! :)
Glad you like the video! And yes, more awesome videos to come!
you can see paul genuinely cares. I mean how often do you see stars help out random joes on the internet. what a cool fucking guy.
Not often at all. Paul is the coolest professional that I've ever met.
This is gold, thank you!
