I love to read romance and while I agree that some of that genre is not good in quality, there are really well-written works too, that can contribute to your enjoyment and allow you to reflect on human nature, social issues, etc. Also, it depends on your mind setting when you read them. Sometimes I read only to pass the time or distract myself after a hard day, I go for a romance and that is. But with other romance authors, I read their books thinking about relationships, social customs, and human challenges. I were going to recommend to you Mary Balogh, not all her work, but you already have read her. I love The Survivors Club series, but I have to say the last one (the one that you read) is, sadly, not the best. I recommend from the same author the Wescott series, but is better to read in order. It is like when you stumble with a wedding party on your way to work. You smile, think in love and hope they have happiness, but essentially you don't care because you don't know those people. But if it is the wedding of a friend or a relative, you are invested in their story. Sorry for the long comment 🙇♀
Thank you for the long comment! 😁 I agree there is a lot more to romance than snobs recognize. Even if the Balogh I read recently was a bit odd, I loved the writing. It had an "end of series" atmosphere, so I could guess it was not the best of the series. If I stumble upon other Balogh, I will certainly read them.
Funny what you said about “the exact same kiss” in both books. 😂 If you enjoy Historical Romance, I highly recommend Daisy Wood. Her books are stand-alone, but I started with _The Clockmaker’s Wife_ [2021]
I also enjoy the odd contemporary romance, though less so these days but they are light and generally forgettable reads for me, though some have been great.
I've read very little romance, but I like hearing you talk about it.
Thank you. The genre is pure fun. At least for me. 😁

I suppose that books that ask a bit less of our brain are less memorable than the ones that make us work, but when we read them, it feels so good... 😁
I enjoyed the video, but not the tag!
It's meant in good fun. Romance is a great genre. People who look down on it are snobs. And Garbaugust is the event to make fun of snobs' opinions. 😁
@@bouquinsbooks I understand and did enjoy the video.
