    Thank you so much for your interest in this video. What are your memories about Rodney Hampton?

    Rodney was a great back and my favorite Giant as a kid. He carried the whole offense with the horrible qbs they had in the mid 90s

      Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching the video. To be honest, when I was prepping for the video, the 2 QBs that come to mind quickly during Hampton's prime were Dave Brown and Kent Graham. But in reality, Simms and Hostetler played for the Giants longer than I remembered (but they were injured for the most part) 90s QBs for Giants fans may have been a tough watch. Anyways, Hampton was obviously the best player on offense for the Giants back then. He produced. Thanks for the comment, I enjoyed reading it.

    I loved Hampton! Very underrated. I loved the era of the big backs in the 90s

      You are the best steelcurtain187. I miss the big backs of the 90s too. Maybe I will get to a Bam Morris video one day. I think I will have an Ironhead Heyward video this fall because I wrote it last year but never got a chance to edit it. Thanks as always. Enjoy this NFL season.

      Thanks for checking out the video and thanks for the comment. That must have been a huge let down for Giants fans after the Bill Parcells era. It was a strange QB situation in a way in the 90s. For some reason it's tattooed in my mind when Kent Graham led the Giants to an upset win over the 13-0 Broncos (I think). But I may have to do a Giants in the 90s video one day. Thanks again. Enjoy the 2023 NFL season.

    As a Giants fan. On any given season from 92-96 he was almost our entire offense!

      Thanks for the comment and thanks for the watching the video. After I made the video, I realized I wish I would have talked more about that. I briefly mentioned about Hampton being the best weapon during that period and the QB situation. I wished I would have talked more how Hampton was in a way their only weapon on offense and talked more about the shaky QB situation. Thanks again. Enjoy the upcoming NFL season.

    In 91 an 94 he only played 14 games and had over 1k yards! In 93 he only played 12 games! And still had almost 1100 yards!

      Thanks for the comment. Yeah, in 1993, they were really giving him the ball, 3rd in the NFL in rushing yards per game. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of the NFL season.

      For some reason I don't think I ever used Hampton in Tecmo Bowl. I might have to check it out. I was never the Giants in the Tecmo Bowl series. Great to hear from you. I hope Luke Fickell works out there in Madison. Enjoy the 2023 football season. In a couple months the Clem Haskins video will come.

    Great spotlight. You should do a video on Eric Allen. He was a great corner during the 90's, and should probably be in the HOF. But he never gets talked about.

      Thank you so much for the comment and thanks for watching the video. I apologize for the late reply. Your reference to Eric Allen is awesome. Great name and you're correct, he was a top-tier CB back then and perhaps should be in the Hall of Fame. I do want to do a video about the Eagles in the 90s one day, as I hope to find more time to it. But I should do a short on Eric Allen. I will write your name down for the recommendation. Thanks again. Enjoy Week 4 of the NFL season.

    Imagine how much better the NY Giants running game could have been in Super Bowl 25 with him healthy

    Rodney is one of my all-time favorite players. Early in his career (1990-1994), there was Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, and Thurman Thomas always at the top, but I would put Hampton in the group right behind them. He had 5 straight 1000 yard seasons, 3 seasons of 10+ touchdowns, he could block, he could receive, almost never fumbled. Everything you want from a back.
    It is a shame after Simms left at the end of 93, during the Graham, Brown, Kanell years, he was the Giant’s only offense and they ran him into the ground. Shortened what was on the way to being a 10,000 yard career and he would be talked of more as one of the top backs of the 1990s.

      @90sSportsNostalgia  Рік тому +1

      I really enjoyed reading your comment. Growing up, I remember Rodney getting tough yards and having very good vision. However, when I went back watching Hampton highlights preparing for this video, he was a much better receiver than I realized and remember, and as you said "he could receive" as I probably should have mentioned that. But thank you so much for your comment as I really liked it.
