    Thank you so much. Our professor managed to make physiology the most boring module in medicine so you're my new physiology professor now :)

    Hey, Amazing video thanks so much. One question, are medications that increase the amount of PGE2? Again thanks, great stuff!!!

      No, may be they decrease the PGE2

    Hello, can fevers be self limited? Or specific to a body part? I have been feeling that my head is warmer than normal and l havs been having flu symptoms.
    I took my temp. under my arm 3 times, twice yesterday and once today. All three were under 99° F but then l took it under the tongue today after putting the digital thermometer inside a bag in case it wasn't 100% clean from previous axillary use. It got to 100.1° F although l tried to not exhale because l knew I have been exhaling hot air.
    I tested at home for Covid concerned about all the mucus l have been coughing and it was negative. My mother did the hand to forehead and agreed it was a fever. She mentioned an infection, but l thought a fever included the whole body temp. Does seriousness of the issue determine how big the fever is, body or specific? 🤔

    thanks a lot . I HAVE A QUESTION PLEASE THE FEVER IS AN IMMUNE REACTION HELPS TO DESTROY GERMS BUT GIVEN MEDICATIONS WILL REDUCE IT SO SHOULD WE GIVE THEM ANTI BIOTICS

    • @JoaoMartins-yx3ny
      @JoaoMartins-yx3ny Рік тому

      sometimes fever can be hard to contain and self destructive, so anti biotics help control the normal physiological mechanism

      @@JoaoMartins-yx3ny thanks a lot for the answer, it was very interesting question at that time. anyway fever in did is a physiological reaction of organisms but sometimes it can be dangerous +++ in the pediatric world: it may cause seizures / dehydration / fatigue

    But where does the pge2 come from?

    • @jebin2
      @jebin2 3 роки тому

      It is syntheized as reaction to infection from pathogens or sometimes Trauma.
      Phospholipase A2 breaks down then Phospholipids from cell membranes to Arachidonic acids. They in turn are catalyzed by
      cyclo-oxigenase (enzyme) to the Prostaglandines (amongst others PGE2). goes up to anterior part of hypothalamus (mentioned in the video).

    Hello there!
    Is fever a positive feedback?

    • @tausifhussain1730
      @tausifhussain1730 3 роки тому

      yes it it, it's a response of the body against infections....by raising the body temperature the hypothalamus makes the body uninhabitable for the microorganisms.

    2:22 So if temperature through a catheter is more accurate, why not make catheters with an embedded temperature reading device so that any patient who already has a catheter inserted can easily have an accurate temperature reading?
