Did you ever had the question why a "bathtub curve " shows up ie high years/millions are very high; as well as very small numbers ( neg exponent years) ie infinite large & infinite small.
But the around 0 ( ie small wavelengths there is a flat horizontal line; which could mean there's a sample size effect of the "law" of large numbers
Could you clarify why that is and where my observation is irrelevant. thank you for clarification.Thank you
It is a question that I asked myself at times. I don't have a definite answer. I suspect that it is because it is the scale that we are at but it isn't obvious why that affects things. Perhaps we will speclate on this in the next episode.
I've thought about this question in terms of analogue verses digital or wave functions verses particles. When we zoom into some linear function we eventually reach a point where it stops appearing as linear and starts becoming a step function. Let's call this a transition point. We go through this transition point and everything starts appearing as linear again. Again we keep zooming in until it starts appearing as a step, and so on. Does this make any sense?
@@MarcInTbilisi Hi! When considering whether the fundamental nature of the aether was particulate or pure waves, I realized that each can be fitted to arbitrary accuracy but the other at a smaller level. This seems to be similar to what you are saying. I prefer to think in terms of a continuous aether. But particle like structures arise at various scales that we recognise at sub-atomic particles, atoms, etc etc.

Well it just needs a single wave structure at the largest scale and a non-linear wave equation for all the rest to happen. No matter what causes that we can always ask more questions about what caused that as well. I cannot comprehend how there can be a final answer.

Yes there is an observational dip which I labelled as X and Y at around the human scale in discrete structures. Actually the problem may be that we observe too much detail at that scale so we do not see separate discrete objects. The next video will examine observations at around the human scale and we will see that regular structures are observed and there are some surprises as to the spacings.
